The only issue was that i was quoted one hourly rate on the phone and the repairman invoiced a higher rate but it was quickly corrected by the owner once we called so no harm done. Overall i would definitely recommend

Description of Work: Had wires that were running to a generator disconnected and removed from main electrical box in house. After disconnected, they put broc cover back on for e as well.

Description of Work: After a major storm, the meter box on my parents' house was damaged and they lost power to the house. We needed an electrician quickly to repair the meter box and start the process of restoring power to the house. This all occurred on Saturday and we had troubling getting in touch with an electrician. Valentine Electric returned our call and performed the needed work and, after more back and forth with Con Edison, power was restored.

+ -1 moreCalled Valentine and gave them an overview of the job. I was quoted a price of $150.00 an hr for two men. I thought that was a great price. I asked for someone to come over and actually see the scope of work. The owner of the company Mr. Valentine showed up and after looking at the job told me that he would need to give me a set price for the job. I found that to be reasonable due to the scope of work. Mr. Valentine was a gentleman to deal with and I looked forward to his price quote and possibly working with him on this job. HE NEVER CALLED ME WITH THE QUOTE. For that and for initially quoting a low "teaser" rate I cannot recommend Valentine.
Description of Work: Needed work in my CO-OP looked on Angies List and found Valentine Electric.

+ 0 moreThey did the job and everything was as I said. They gave me a written documentation on everything and it was fine. I wasn't impressed by the owner, but he sent some of his people and they were very good. We had hurricane in the summer and we decided that we needed a generator. We wanted to have that where it is connected to the circuit breaker box. They call it a manual transfer panel, so they had to go from the outside and put an outlet outside the house and then connect it into the circuit breaker in the house, so efficiently they had to run extension floors, to our windows and our doors. During the hurricane, we had lot of houses lost their power and they got the mold because they had water in the house; however we didn't get to that point to our house, but we just realized that we never know if the power going to go up in the snow storm or hurricane, so we thought we will get a portable generator. We got the one that runs on the gas that is used for barbecues, propane gas, rather than the gasoline because the propane doesn't degrade like the gasoline does with the ethanol in it. They got us that and they put the transfer panel. Even the building inspector in the village said that they did an excellent job. The village inspector had to check it afterwards and then I had to get an UL inspector to certify and everything was perfect. I would rate them highly. I would use them again.

+ -1 moreThey came on time, did excellent work and after completion-cleaned up everything and then explained to me how the generator worked, etc. Today 1/11/2012, the Town Electrical Inspector came and after the inspection told me that the job was done in an excellent manner. He also said that this Company was the best in the Town (Clarkstown, N.Y.). Another company Delpo Plumbing came at the same time and hooked up the generator to my natural gas line. Valentine Electric Inc. usually recommends this company if you do not have a Plumber that you regular use.
Description of Work: The company installed a whole house natural gas electrical Generac Generator.

+ 1 moreWe started with a sizable laundry list of things I wanted done in the house in addition to the needs for the new kitchen. They came when they said they would and provided a complete and detailed quotation less than a week later. I decided to start with the kitchen requirements first. They came on time and took care of everything in a completely professional manner. When they left, they removed any trace of their presence besides the work they had done. There was not a speck of dirt or material left anywhere. It was spotless. I'm bringing them back to keep knocking down the items on my list. They are absolute professionals and definitely worth it.
Description of Work: Added GFCI outlets, switches and low voltage pot lights to newly renovated kitchen, relocated and rewired thermostat so it cycles better when heating the house and relocated phone line.

I flipped on my bathroom light this morning at 5:45 am and the lights on the ceiling and mirror over the sink suddenly went out. I suspected a burned out lightbulb, but when I tried to turn the light back on, the wall switch did not work. The circuit breaker was fine. Given this was a Friday morning and I needed to go to work, I called Valentine Electric to make an appointment for Monday. I called at 7:00 am expecting an answering service to take a message. I was surprised when someone from the office answered the phone! I explained the situation and he told me to check the outlet reset buttons and if that didn't work to call him back. The reset didn't work, I called back, explained that I had to go to work and could an appointment be scheduled for Monday. He replied that he could send someone over right now - at 7:15 in the morning! The electrician arrived about 8:00, diagnosed and fixed the problem. He was very courteous. I can absolutely, positively recommend Valentine Electric!

+ -1 moreOn that morning I discovered I had lost power to half of the kitchen. The breaker was fine so it had to be something in the wall. I called my usual electrician who said they would call me back. Half the day went by without a phone call so I found Valentine on Angie's List. I explained the situation and requested someone come that day given the severity. Within a few hours a knowledgeable electrician had shown up, assessed the problem in a matter of minutes and completed the job in less than half an hour. He was courteous and professional.
Description of Work: Electrician tested three outlets, found a bad one that was causing the other two not to function. He replaced the bad outlet and tested all three again to make sure they were working.

Paul Valentine arrived the next day and pointed out that the electric meter was ripped off the wall also and the panel box was damaged. He quoted me what I considered was a fair price and scheduled the work for the next day. The men who performed the work were professional and courteous. The repairs were completed within the time specified time and the electrical system is now working properly. I am very satisfied with the work done and would reccomend Valentine Electric to anyone needing electrical work.

+ -1 moreI got a call from Maria the last week in September to schedule the job. She gave me Oct. 4th and 5th, to make sure they would be done before my siding and window contractors needed to begin. I told her we have two cats that don't go outside. She said she would note on the work order to not let them out. Very considerate and accomodating. On Monday the 3rd I called her to confirm and asked if I could eliminate the additional light on the deck and instead run another circuit to a window in the office in front of the house for an additional air conditioner. She said no problem, just tell the foreman when they arrive in the morning. I told her I needed to leave by 8am. She said they would be there at 7:30. At 7:30 I walked through all my requests with the forman ( I am embarassed to say I forgot his name because he was terrific) and after thinking for a minute he said he might not get everything done today. (I should explain that I am an I.B.E.W. electrician and I did not expect them to be done in one day.) As I left for work I was pleased to notice another truck with two more workmen pull in as I pulled out. Five minutes later the foreman called and asked where my water meter was. I told him. Later that day I called home around 3ish when my wife and kids normally get home from school. I wanted to ask the installers how long the power would be off the next day, when they finish up tying in the new panel. My wife said the power was off and they would be done in a half an hour!! I asked her how they got done so quick and the foreman said "We got lucky". My dad had a saying, 'The harder you work, the luckier you get." The installers figured out they could run two lines around the back of the house, one for the tub, the other they snaked up into the ceiling, between the upstairs floor joists and back down right next to the window in the office without cutting the inside drywall at all! It wasn't luck. Just a smart, experienced team of installers who know their business. It was a beautiful job. Their quality workmenship and professionalism were more than I expected. I would reccomend Valentine to anyone and would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I called Valentine based on the reviews here. I spoke to a real person named Maria who set up an estimate at a conveinient time for me. Paul Valentine arrived at the scheduled time on Sept. 12th. I explained we were having our siding and windows replaced some time in October, so now would be a good time to do some upgrades since they could cut holes where ever they need to. I asked for an addtional line to be run from the service panel to the back yard to power my new hot tub. I discovered all of my GFCI outlets were ganged together to one recepticle in the garage. When these outlets routinely have hair dryers in the bathrooms, a blender in the kitchen and a power tool in the garage and pop goes the 15 amp breaker. So I wanted those outlets put on a 20 amp breaker and asked to have two more seperate circuits added in the garage for a fridge and the odd power tool. Finally, I asked for another light fixture to be installed on the deck and tied into the exsisting fixture. Paul listened and made notes, then after inpecting my service panel made his suggestions. He explained that we were right on the edge with 100 amps and the addition of extra cicuits really should be accompanied by an upgrade to 200 amps. He also pointed out the meter pan was rusted, as was the feeder cable and grounding wires. He then said he would break out the estimate into pieces and I could decide on how much to do based on my budget. He said right up front that the 200 amp upgrade was " big bucks". The consultation took about 15 minutes. A copy of his bid showed up in my email 2 days later and a hard copy showed up in the mail a few days after that. I spoke with two other electricians and got one other bid. The bid prices were around the same, but Valentines bid was much more detailed about what would be done. Also in his bid he metioned that any inspections or permits would be handled by him. As well as any coodination with the power company and my contractor for the wondows and siding if needed. In addition Valentine would provide us with a form so we would not have to pay tax as this was a capital improvement! The other two electricians were unsure if any permits were needed and told me that was "my problem". I accepted Valentines bid.

+ 0 moreThey responded to my request for an estimate with a breakdown of each part I wanted done. When I decided not to do all the jobs I wanted done, they provided a new estimate. Although originally they would not put a warranty for the work in writing, they did so at my request. Carlos & Al explained everything as they worked and even pointed out a potentially dangerous wiring situation, which I had them correct (at an additional fee). You must ask for the Angie's List discount since it wasn't automatically calculated. Very pleased with the work done and would use them again.
