The initial install took a few days to finish, although it still seems to be going on 4 years later. You should hope to never have a problem with the equipment as you will NEVER get service. We bought the Midea mini-splits from Pete. 2 compressors and 5 blowers. He gave a 5 year warranty. After 4 years we have not had a single year that all of the units worked right. It got to the point that Midea replaced both compressors. I'm not sure which is worse... The Midea brand or the support from Pete. When I had issues with the unit he would schedule an appointment and just not show up. This happened over 14 times and when he did finally show up he saw nothing wrong with getting me to take off of work to wait around for him without so much as a phone call to cancel. When Midea sent a replacement compressor it sat in my yard for SIX MONTHS waiting to be installed. When he showed up to replace the compressor he got to my home at 9pm and though it was ok using power tools outside until 2am. I didn't mind as I needed the units to work but my neighbors were not too happy. When friends and family were looking to have unit installed I always advised them to go anywhere other than where I made the mistake of buying them. Here we are in the summer and only 2 out of the 5 units are working and Pete is no where to be found. When I contacted Midea they told me that they get a lot of calls about him and his poor service, yet he is still a vendor for them. I am in the process of finding another HVAC company that could service the Midea brand equipment in hopes of salvaging what was a high priced purchase that just never worked.

When he was submitting his quote to do the job .. he kept promising that these units would be ten times better in heating my old colonial house than our oil heated radiators .. that he did many jobs like this house and not only would they heat much better, they use very little electricity and we would be savings hundreds per month. 1) the installation (which should take a few hours) took several days because he showed up whenever and would disappear for a while .. It soon became obvious that these units were not very good at heating large rooms (they are OK in small bedrooms as long as it doesn't go below 20 degrees .. then they are useless). 2) every time we told him we were still cold, it was always another excuse (too many), 3) when he was finished he then informs us that the electrical panel to our house now has to be upgraded (approx $2,000 to $2,500). I really think that he should have told us that before he installed the units, a professional would!!!! Well, they are OK as air conditioners but not good as heaters at all . This winter we still had to put oil in to heat the house because they just dont work when its freezing. We called him several times to come fix his "guarantee" and his final excuse was that we need bigger units for living room area which he would be happy to do at ADDITIONAL COST TO UPGRADE .. BUT FIRST WE HAVE TO UPGRADE OUR ELECTRICAL PANEL BECAUSE PRESENTLY IT IS DANGEROUS. Oh and by the way the LIPA bill went through the roof this year.. very expensive and very frustrating mistake.. Hopefully this summer the air conditioners will work .. So. no I would not refer them ..

The system worked initially but as the temperature dropped the system has not kept us warm. I am not sure that the BTU's are appropriate for the compressors. I called them and they said they will be here in a couple of days but by then it will be warmer and it won't matter. We are cold now. We are not giving them a good rating until they come back and fix the problem. He ended up helping me correct the problem.

The initial install went great. The systems were up and running within a couple days. It took a little while to finish up the aesthetics of the job but it was functioning right away. I found the system works much better than using window units and it was a noticeable drop on my electric bill. Since the install I had one issue with a unit where it wasn't draining right. I called Pete's and they had someone at my house within an hour to fix the issue. The service is great and the quality of work was also great. I would use Pete's for all of my electrical projects in the future.
Description of Work: Pete's installed a ductless A/C system with 2 compressors and 5 blowers, putting 54000 BTUs of heating and cooling in my home. Pete talked in me into a different brand unit than what all others were offering me. and I'm glad he did. Not only was the price lower than everyone else but the systems work great.

After years of getting LIPA bills that were more like mortgage payments, I knew it was time to rethink my A/C system, which involved using multiple Friedrich A/C wall units. Knowing that my contemporary styled home had no place to hide duct work, I would now be forced to investigate ductless A/C units. As fate would have it, I came upon an interesting ad in the Hometown Shopper, written by Pete's Mechanical Services, that promised that I could heat and cool my home for only $500 per year in energy costs vs. $500 per month with this new state of the art system made by Klimaire. I immediately dialed the phone number in the ad and Pete answered the phone. I arranged an appointment for a free estimate and was extremely impressed with Pete. He showed up at my home on time and spent an hour and a half walking me through every aspect of what would be entailed in the installation.. His easy going and friendly demeanor made me feel very comfortable. Pete gladly answered all of my questions and addressed all of my concerns, one of which was what these units would look like after being installed both inside and outside of my home. Since I am a neat freak, it was extremely important that the aesthetics of my home not be compromised by ductless units that were either too large or unattractive or with an installation that looked anything less than perfect. Pete had a sample of the unit in his truck which he brought into my house for me to see.. With the unit in hand, Pete walked around and showed me exactly where on the wall a unit needed to be placed in order to efficiently heat or cool the entire 3 levels of my home. He even showed me how the face plate of the unit could be changed to better match my contemporary decor. I was honest with Pete and told him I was not familiar with the Klimaire name and always make it my business to meet with several contractors before signing with any one, whenever I embark on a new project. I felt it was important to find out what other brands of similar systems were on the market so I could make an informed decision before going with a brand I never heard of. Recognizing how skeptical I was about this manufacturer, to put my mind at ease, Pete offered to take me to see the unit at work in his mother's home in Levittown. It was at this point that I realized that Pete was the "REAL DEAL", as what contractor would make such an offer if he did not completely believe in the reliability of the product he was installing??? If you are reading this review, let me save you a lot of time and energy. I did the leg work, you won't be sorry if you hire Pete.I checked him out with the town and he has a clean record. I then phoned EVERY customer on his reference list only to find that they all love Pete as much as they love their new Klimaire system. I even made the trip to his mother's home to see the system in operation. Pete is PASSIONATE about his work. He is a PERFECTIONIST, and that type of contractor is few and far between. My new A/C system looks like a work of art. My system has been going 24/7 since the day Pete left and I will say that I feel like I died and went to heaven. The units are all working perfectly and you don't even know that they are on, unlike my Frederich's A/C units which were always so noisy. Pete did the installation with the aid of his right hand man, Ray. Both men are very professional, courteous and masters of their craft. It is also important to note, that both Pete and Ray are meticulous and they paid special attention not to damage or soil the areas they were working in. At the end of each work day, everything was cleaned up and organized. The icing on the cake, came a couple of days after Pete completed the installation, when he first phoned me to see how I liked the system and then again, when we had our first heat wave and the temperature reach 100 degrees. I told Pete how grateful I was that he would take the time, at the busiest part of his year, to check up on me. Pete is NOT just another contractor; he truly demonstrates a real concern for his customers and the integrity of his work. Pete and Ray will be in my life for many years to come, as I plan on having my system serviced by them whenever necessary. Pete is now working on finding me the most efficient boiler and hot water heater on the market, which is another aspect of his business. If you are contemplating getting a new A/C system, I have learned, in my many hours of research, that ductless units are more efficient than Central A/C systems. Pete's prices were better than those of the other contractors I meet with and he offers interest free financing with NO MONEY DOWN. It is a win, win, so why not give Pete a call???
Description of Work: Installed 6 12,000 BTU Ductless Split Heating/Cooling units in my home and 3 condenser units outside. The condenser units are attached to the house using brackets and were placed 7 feet above the ground All tubing needed in the installation was covered with leaders exactly matching the house siding.

Pete sent his workers to do the job of doing all the electric in my basement that was in the process of being finished. He gave me a detailed list on my estimate when the work was finished - he had billed me for items that he never installed that came to $1000.00. He didn't want to supply the Underwriters Certificate until I threatened to call the Board of Underwriters which I did anyway. He said it would cost me $800 and I found out it comes to their cost maybe $75 -100 and that is high. I made the mistake of giving him $4500 for the work he did so far, trusting him and his men not knowing what certain electrical items are called. By now he has my credit card information. Then he said work was all done and put through the balance of $1000. Now it's been almost 6 months and I have been trying to get back my $1000 for work he did not perform. He is very sneaky and came to my home unexpectedly a few times. He is not professional. He is a great talker but a real snake.
Description of Work: Pete's Electrical service was to do all the electrical in my basement while it was being finished. He was also upgrading my electrical system. The work was ok even though I had to have another electrician finish up the job for him as he "thought" it was done (he comes to give you an estimate then sends his men, never checking their work). Overall he is not professional and I would never recommend him. I trusted him (big mistake) but he took advantage knowing I was alone and figured this I was great to take advantage of. He uses cheap materials to install, and I had to have the cable come and redo what his men did as the cable and phone are connected and once they touched it to move things they could not repair it. I upgraded from 100 to 150 where if he was honest another 80 I could have upgraded to 200 amps (just not an honest guy). I'm still fighting to get back $1000 worth of work he did not do on my basement. He could be mad because he lost the electric on my new bathroom to another.
