Amoia Cody Architects brings to its clients a philosophy in design that emphasizes the creation of environments for the individuals they serve. As architects, our first job is to listen. Architecture is about appropriateness. It is important that building, interior space and landscape are integral to place and context. Architecture is about Process not Style. No two building projects are the same; each requires a solution unique to the client, the program, and the site. It is the role of the architect to uncover the nature of each project and reveal its form. We are a registered architect in NY, LEED accredited and a member of the AIA and NCARB. For over 15 years we have been involved in numerous projects varying from wood frame houses to precast concrete office buildings, interior renovations to free standing towers, design competitions to physical construction and solar detoxification facilities to The Museum of Modern Art. One of the things that separate us from other architecture offices is our personal attention to our projects. We attend to every detail and meet our clients by coming to you and spend time discussing your needs. We also make ourselves available evenings and weekends as required. Another important aspect of our work is the way we work with our clients. We present multiple schemes and work with you to find exactly what you are looking for. We never pull another project out of a drawer and make it your project. We thrive on challenges and appreciate clients who ask questions.

I had a great discussion and communication with the architects. They really helped me understand what it was that I wanted and more importantly, what I needed to do to get to what I wanted. The result is simply spectacular! I am glad I went with a really good architect and not with a contractor to design my house. The architects sat with me ever step of the way and explained everything from concepts, to cost and construction and even asked how we live. None of the contractors I interviewed asked me how I would live in the space! How can you build a space without knowing how it will be used? Cody would remind me of this through the process and now that it s complete, I understand the question. If you are looking for an architect who can give you a Lexus for the price of a Toyota, look no further.
Description of Work: I hired Amoia Cody Architects to design an addition to my home. My house is in Suffolk County Long Island. The addition is approximately 1,000 sq feet. My budget was approximately One hundred and fifty thousand dollars. The site is irregular making it difficult to design within the allowed area. The architects presented three different options that fit inside the zoning area so we would not need to file for a variance. The contractors we interviewed couldn t do this. We ended up spending exactly what I planned and we also completely re-sided the whole house and made other renovations, all within the same budget. The architects gave me a fixed fee and did not ask for more money when we expanded work into the existing house. They told me it was part of their job to integrate the existing house to become part of the new addition. They reviewed the contractors proposal and suggested changes. They met with the contractor before construction started to review the work. They visited the site during construction and made some changes as they discussed structure with the contractor. They didn t charge any extra and neither did the contractor!
