This is a one man operation. William really does an excellent job. First of all, William lets you watch the repair if you want to. He also charges a very reasonable price. He educated me in that usually all a vaccuum needs to protect its engine, and improve suction, is to be cleaned. An update on directions to get to the shop: Take cross island parkway exit at Jamaica ave/Jericho turnpike. Jamaica ave is where Jericho turnpike begins. Few blocks from there. 248-05 is the address. The shop is located In the back of a beauty parlor. You have to walk through the beauty shop. At the end of the shop, walk to his door where is says bill's repair. Correction to the Phone Number: 718-343-7870. Going to retire soon. Older gentlemen. Same company as B & W Appliance Inc.
Description of Work: William Buckley, owner and proprietor successfully cleaned out my vacuum.

Brought Bill my Hoover Vacuum Cleaner which did not make a sound when the switch was turned on. Bill looked at it and said and quot;if I remove these two nuts and bols the switch assembly will slide off and I can test the switchand quot;. He proceded to remove them and the switch housing did not slide off. He now knew this was not an ordinary repair. He tried one tactic after another to seperate the switch housing from the main vacuum housing but nothing worked. Something unusal had occured preventing the standard removal of the switch housing. The limitation here was not to damage the plastic housing while applying enough force to look inside, pry off or gerrymander the assembly off. This obviously required the exertion of many years of experience to complete sucessfully. After much time he did it. He realized that the switch had melted the surrounding plastic and welded the entire unt shut thereby not allowing entry to the switch. He proceded to replace the switch in a very professional manner. Tested the vacuum and turned it over to me in fine working order. He then mace out a bill for less than I would have guessed. I RECOMMEND BILLS REPAIR SHOP FOR ALL APPLIANCE REPAIRS.
Description of Work: Returned my non-working vacuum to perfect working order while I waited.

Bill opened up a small appliance repair shop in the back of the Pet Food Store at this address. I had gotten his name and phone number from one of the highest rated large appliance repair places on Angie's List. My old appliance shop that had replaced the batteries before had tried to tell me the high price for the battery change was because he only uses original Norelco batteries, and when Bill opened up the shaver I saw that the old person had just used Sanyo batteries. Bill was honest, efficient, polite, and if there was a real problem very reasonable. Instead he was totally honest, and after opening up my shaver, and testing it, and oiling it, he put it back together and didn't even charge me anything. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BILL. He deserves business. Give him a try.
Description of Work: I brought in my Norelco 5885XL shaver to have the batteries replaced. The shaver wasn't holding the charge, and I had replaced the batteries at another shop twice over the last 10 years, and assumed that was the problem again. Bill quoted me right over the phone $5 per battery (there are two batteries) and a $8.95 service charge. That is extremely reasonable as my previous shop had raised their price from $30 for the same service to $49.95 which I thought was way too high. Replacing these shaver batteries is not a simple task. You must know how to correctly solder them in, or you will ruin the shaver. I had researched doing it myself, and had quickly concluded from other people it was best left to someone who knew what he was doing. Bill first told me that he would check to see if both batteries needed replacing, and he very quickly opened up my shaver in front of me, and showed me on the tester that both batteries were good. He then explained that most likely you just needed to spray and oil the blades which were causing drag, and were using up excessive electricity and that's why I was only getting 3 or 4 shaves. He then oiled the heads and showed me how well the shaver was running, and told me to now discharge and charge the battery 3 times, and everything should be fine. I have done that, and it appears everything is fine. He didn't charge me anything for the service. You could tell that Bill is a totally honest and reasonable man - very rare. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM.
