Our old house was very cold & drafty, and the heating & cooling bills from the first 2 years were very high. From the first energy audit appointment, Jon was very thorough and great to work with. He very patiently answered all my questions and explained what the work that was proposed in the detailed report that he prepared would do to improve the situation. After we decided to work with them, Jon was very responsive and accommodating in changing the schedule and working with other vendors who were working on our house. Every email and phone call was returned in a timely manner. The team that came to do the work was also very friendly, professional and accommodating. They answered all my questions and completed the work quickly and did a good job cleaning up. The guys took me through the whole house and showed me everything they did before they left so I knew exactly what happened, since I was not home during the day when they were working. It was a big investment but we feel good about the quality of the work and the excellent customer service we received. We look forward to this winter when we will feel the results of the insulation and perimeter sealing work!

Working with Healthy Home was a great experience - from the initial emails with Chris to our first meeting with Jon and then the actual work being completed. Everyone was super responsive and reliable. The crew that did the work was made up of three guys who always removed their shoes, cleaned up after they were finished, and who were very nice to my wife and our dog (who barked at them incessantly). My wife never felt unsafe as they were working in the house, and she also didn't feel like she needed to make sure they weren't scuffing up walls or doing any other type of damage to the home. Jon - our consistent contact - was personable, knowledgeable and present throughout the process. We didn't end up getting quotes from anyone else because we were really impressed with him and his presentation and we felt like we would be in good hands. Jon spent more than an hour with us during the initial visit, answering all of our questions (and we can ask a lot!) and making sure that we were informed. After our final walk thru, I was really surprised by how good my wife and I felt even though we had just spent thousands of dollars. The house feels more comfortable and we had such an enjoyable time getting to this point. My wife and I would recommend Healthy Home in a heartbeat.

Project was not appropriate for Healthy Home, but they were most knowledgeable, professional, and thorough in discussing my project, answering questions, and suggesting options.

Healthy Home completed the energy audit and helped us utilize the New York energy assessment program, which ended up paying for the audit. Gordon, our energy auditor explained what he was testing and why and then shared the results with us. At the completion of the project, Gordon retested the audit and showed the changes as a result of the work. We are very pleased with the changes including more money in our picket and less to the oil company. I have noticed that there are no longer drafts of cool air and that our home stays quite warm. I would highly recommend Healthy Home: they were courteous, and cleaned up each night after there work. They are passionate about the work and the positive effects they can have on the environment. Jon Davey and his team could not have been more professional, competent and trustworthy. From an initial energy efficiency assessment that cataloged every issue we needed to be aware of (efficiency of our boiler (good); status of our attic insulation (non-existent); and condition of our windows (old and a bit leaky but not worth replacing), we felt we had an excellent handle on the scope of the potential work before we even signed on for anything. Jon came to our home and gave a comprehensive presentation complete with photos and thermography readings taken throughout the home. He went into detail about each element and gave us concrete examples and realistic solutions. He then provided itemized packages that allowed us to pick and choose the work we wanted to pursue now and the work we felt could be postponed for the future. There was zero pressure placed upon us to opt for more work. In fact, Jon was very honest about those items he felt were important -- first and foremost insulating the attic to avoid all the heat escaping through the roof -- and those items that could wait, for example the exterior wall insulation, which we ultimately did opt to do. Jon's team completed all the work while we were out of town and then cleaned up everything, leaving the house as clean, if not cleaner, than they had found it. After the work was completed, Jon came by for a final in-person review of the work, including the post-work energy efficiency assessment and we saw a huge improvement. We genuinely had a great experience with this company and would use them in the future as well as recommend them to friends and family.

For those that don't like to read thru paragraphs of reviews and want a quick recommendation, here goes: HEALTHY HOME IS GREAT - HIRE THEM! :) For those that prefer a more detailed recommendation, read on. Jon Davey visited our home about three months prior to actually performing the work to perform a home energy assessment. This is a complete energy analysis of the home from top to bottom. Jon and his colleague Gordon spent about four hours explaining to us the process and performing the test. Ten days later, Jon met with us to review the results and discuss next steps. Not to side story, but Jon's a great guy. He REALLY cares about the work he does and passionate about quality and making sure the homeowner is happy. He was VERY responsive to all of our questions (via e-mail, phone, snail mail...ha, ha). The report that HH prepared was well organized and thought out. Laminated and everything! Truly professional. After reviewing the 2 options presented to us, we eventually opted for the more expensive options, but would also yield the greatest improvements. Work was scheduled about 2.5 months from the energy audit. Jon and his team are very busy, but they were able to accommodate their schedule and ours. They spent about 3 days in our home - 4-5 workers total. Jon arrives the first day to introduce the crew to us, so you know who will be in your home. The crew was hard working and very respectful of our home. They cleaned up at the end of every day. And they even stayed two hrs. beyond their normal workday one day to finish up work so they were on track to complete the entire project on schedule. Jon is great on follow-up and visited our home less than a week after project completion. I had several 'punchlist' items I wanted to review with him regarding loose vent screws, newly installed door sweeps, etc. We went over EVERY item and he was able to correct these minor items - NO questions asked. Sometimes it's the small things that matter most - Jon followed through on every single one. We purchased our home about 8 months ago. It was a very LONG and COLD winter. We had SIGNIFICANT loss of heat in our ductwork and the perimeter of the home. And our energy bills told the story. But with the work Healthy Homes has now performed, we have already started to notice a difference in the cooling of our home (Central, Forced Air System). They were able to reduce the leakage in our ducts by 89%!!! And they even give you a certificate on that so you have it in writing! My wife and I could NOT be happier with our experience with Healthy Home - from start to finish. As I mentioned before, Jon is a great guy and really cares about us the customer. Yeah, it can be an expensive investment. But, Jon is willing to work within your budget and customize a healthy home plan that works for you! I'm sure there are other great home energy improvement companies out there. But, I wouldn't spend a lot of time performing an exhaustive search to find them. The answer is right in front of you. P.S. Jon gave us a list of 9 references, should we want to reach out and find out exactly how great their work was. We reached out to all 9...heard back from 7...all with essentially 5-star reviews! Most of them had been living in their homes for several months after HH performed their work. Energy bills were reduced dramatically, with almost every single reference staying that their home hadn't been this warm in 10+ years! So, don't just take my word for it. Needless to say, we're excited about our now 'healthy' home and looking forward to the many well insulated years to come. :)

A rough experience- they insulated my attic, basement and exterior walls. When I peeled back patches to check the wall insulation, I discovered places with no insulation! They can back with the infrared camera and filled some spots. When I demanded a NYSERDA quality assurance review, it was discovered that they missed another 8- 10 bays! They discounted the job $5,000 for the errors, aggravation, and killing some shrubs. Jon tried to make things right and they made good on their mistakes, but I've got to recommend to CHECK the insulation work and watch things like a hawk!!!

Excellent professional team performed the work over ten days. They were very diligent, polite and cleaned up at the end of the day. Jon made sure we were satisfied at the end of the project. The results are dramatic from a drafty home to a comfortable well insulated tight home. We can't wait to see how much fuel oil we save. Their proposal was very detailed and the follow-up as well.

I called to schedule a estimate. Kevin who answered the phone was honest and upfront that his company was not a good fit for my job. I will definitely call them again if I have a need for their services. It was nice not to talk to a "salesman" but just another kind human.

We have been very pleased and completely satisfied with Healthy Home Energy and Consulting. We wanted more energy efficiency out of our 100 year old house. Healthy Home Energy and Consulting first preformed a thorough audit finding many areas in our house that could be better insulated. They provided a very informative and persuaisive report that determined that we could save about 30% on energy bills if we followed their recommendations which included spray foam ecapsulation of our attic, insulating the eaves and perimeter sealing our the sill area in the basement. We decided to go ahead with their recommendations and had all the work completed. The crew arrived on time on the scheduled day and and was most professional. Each worker was most careful in our house (they removed their shoes as they came inside, something that no one in our household, espeially our kids and our large dog ever does.) The work was carefully and professionally completed as per the contract. Clean up at the end of the job was complete and conciensious. Jon Davey, who was the front man throughout the entire process was a pleasure to deal. He provided clear descriptions and explanations of the work that he was recommending. As the work was being performed, Jon was onsite with his crew again, answering our questions and backing up his excellent crew. On completion of the job, Jon even offered to return to insulate new attic windows that were installed a month later by another contractor; which he did. He also come back to personally take care of a final detail that had been missed by the crew on the busy construction day. The house, after the work has been completed, is wonderfully snug and cozy. We are so happly that we decided to get this work done right before the weather turned cold. We expect our insulation job will help keep our house cooler in the summer, as well. Everyone involved with the project from start to finish was as professional as could be! The work was done by 3 men who worked for 4 full days. They never cut corners and while observing their work I saw that they discussed how to make sure that every part of wall received new insulation even when it meant significant additional work. They cleaned up everything well. When working with insulation inside my house, they made sure everything was covered with plastic so that there would be no residue on anything. I was told that if there was anything that wasn't done to my satisfaction, they would happily come back. After the job was completed, I noticed one small area around a door that still had a small air leak. (It happened to be the door that the testing fan was placed in, making it difficult to notice the leak while they were testing the air flow.) I called them up, they came back, and the leak was fixed. For the first time in many years, the temperature in all of our rooms is the same with no noticeable drafts. As a side benefit, the insulation in the walls is also a great sound barrier, and the house is noticeably more quiet to outside noises. Time will tell whether we get the approx. 30% energy savings that they estimate. I am extremely happy that I chose Healthy Home Energy!

I am extremely pleased with the service we received from Healthy Home Energy & Consulting during each step of the process. From the initial phone conversation to the final testing, Healthy Home Energy & Consulting conducted themselves in a professional manner, were very knowledgable and easy to work with. They were thorough in their testing, the report was presented in an easy to understand format, they were available for questions and performed the work efficiently. They cleaned up each day after the work and were unobtrusive while working. They completed the work within the time allotted and followed up to ensure I was pleased with the way the job had been performed. They assisted in completing the paperwork for the Government energy rebate. All in all, I would give this company the highest rating possible, I would use them again and I would recommend them to others.

The work itself was done well and the energy efficiency has been achieved as seen in my heating bill. Everyone was very courteous and informative. My only complaint is that the actual work crew did not clean the area after, specifically after the installation of the particulate insulation. I found this all over the outside of the perimeter of the house and felt that, although it is understandably messy to work with, it could have been cleaned up to a great degree after the installation was completed. Also, things were not returned to their original places after the work was completed.

They did an energy efficiency audit, and then they cleaned out the attic of the insulation that was there and replaced it. They also insulated the space between the garage and the bedroom above it, then did another energy efficiency audit.

They were fantastic and did a beautiful job. Our fuel bills went down. They were also very polite, efficient, and easy to be around while they were working. The only thing I don’t like is that you can see the foam in the ceiling of the closet in the attic, which serves as a guest room.

They installed insulation in the entire first floor of the house and in the attic.

I was very pleased with their work. They took a very scientific approach, were very thorough with their report (which they made into a bound book), and I was impressed with their level of knowledge.

My experience with Healthy Home Energy & Consulting was very positive overall. From the time the staff of Healthy Home arrived to perform the energy assessment to the completion of the home improvements, they were professional, timely, neat, communicated well and cared for my home as if it was their own. Jon Davey, the general manager, is an amazing representative of the company. He is patient, thorough, genuine and isn't "salesy" at all. Despite putting our home on the market for sale, my wife and I both felt that having energy efficiency improvements completed on our home was the right thing to do for any future homeowner. Chris Mari, another representative, followed up to make sure that we were satisfied with the job and his company. Thank you for a job well done!

The work was scheduled for late June. The workers were very professional, extremely neat, punctual, helpful, courteous, well- spoken and sufficiently communicative. The work went smoothly, but exceeded their original estimate of the length of time the job would take. Despite the fact that the work couldn't be completed in four days, they continued to come until everything was done, and the house was cleaned up. When the work was complete, they retested the house to see what kind of energy savings they had actually achieved. The result: better than an 18% reduction in projected energy use! In a very large house with large energy bills, that savings will be considerable. Additionally, Healthy Home submitted paperwork to New York State and called to tell us that our 10% rebate was approved and we would have a check for 10% of the cost of the job in the next 4 to 6 weeks. It has only been a few weeks since the job was completed, but our home is noticeably more comfortable. We will certainly be recommending Healthy Home Energy & Consulting to everyone we know. We had a very unpleasant experience with this company, and the owner, Kevin Brenner. There were significant issues that put my family and my home in danger by the workers that were sent to do this job. In the end, these issues were addressed and the workers were terminated. Jon and Gordon did come to personally finish the project which we appreciated but only after a very distasteful conversation with Kevin where he was both confrontational and extremely disrespectful. The end result is that the work appears to have been done properly, and as proposed with significant oversight from project managers. The owner did apologize for his behavior and has made a donation to the charity of our choice as an act of goodwill. Overall, we have very mixed feelings regarding this company and this review. Our experience with the crew that was sent to perform the work as well as our experience with the owner was 100% unacceptable but we can't say if this is representative of the company's full body of work. Jon and Gordon do seem to genuinely care about the work they do and the company as a whole. Unfortunately, that was not who was sent to do our job. In the end, we don't want to write the company off entirely, but we also had such a terrible experience, that it is not fair to us to be silent about it, nor to the company, who should continue to be held accountable for the events that took place.

This company was referred to us by an acquaintance. They were extraordinary careful and conscientious and very thorough. They explained everything beautifully. They went around the whole house and in all sorts of places and did a blower test. They take a few days and come back with an amazing analysis of the cost benefits for doing the insulation and they also help you fill out an application for a low interest federal loan. You get a tax benefit right off the top as well. Basically if it goes as promised, we will be paying off the loan but our energy expenses will offset the cost. They didn't charge an audit fee and we will be using them again in the future.

After checking Angie's list for recommended insulation providers, we contacted Healthy Homes as one of 3 companies for an estimate on weatherizing our old home. They were the 3rd company to give us an estimate, so by then, we pretty much knew what needed to be done. They're very busy, so we did have to wait a week or so for an estimate appointment -- during which time I applied for the NYSERDA credit -- and then we waited another 2 weeks or so for the actual estimate/assessment. Even though these guys were great, offered premium, top-of-the-line insulation solutions, and obviously new what they were doing, they were way out of our price range -- 3 times more than the company we ended up choosing. At our age (50s), we wouldn't have lived long enough to recoup the expense. So we turned them down. I think the glossy booklet was overkill, but when your jobs are at the high end of the cost scale, that is how you represent yourself. I almost feel bad. If I'd known how much they were going to ask, I wouldn't have wasted their time?Now, if we were 20 years younger, and were just building a new house, these would be our guys. Probably.

These guys are total pros. From the first phone call to the last day of work they acted in a professional and responsive manner. Better than that, our house feels so much more comfortable. No more drafts and un-even heated areas. They showed us the reports showing a 35% reduction in overall airflow and a 60% reduction in duct leakage. Best of all, our energy savings are about $50 more per month than the cost of the financing so we are cash flow positive. While we heard that the NYSERDA paperwork was quite daunting, Jon made it very easy, guiding us every step of the way. The workmen were prompt, polite and respectful of our house. I am a clean fanatic and they left the house spotless. Other than how our comfort has improved; you would have no idea they were there. If you are interested in hiring total professionals for this type of work, Healthy Home Energy & Consulting is the way to go.
