THE OVERALL WAS THAT HE IS A CROOK AND AND SCAM ARTIST WHO IS JUST OUT TO RIP PEOPLE OFF I WOULD STAY FAR AWAY FROM DOING BUSINESS WITH HIM HE HAD MULTIPLUE ADDRESS FOR THIS BUSINESS AND ONLY WORKS BY CELL PHONE EVERYTHING HE DOES IS A LIE AND HE SHOULD BE STOPPED UPDATED OCTOBER 1, 2012: scammed us and there is no story to tell
Description of Work: JOHN ALTMAN IS A COMPLETE SCAM HE NEVER DOES KITCHENS OR BATH HE TAKES DEPOSITS AND NEVER DOES A JOB. HE CLAIMS TO HAVE A COMPANY THE SALES CABINETS AND KITCHENS BUT IT DOES NOT EXSIST. HE HAS BEEN DOING THIS TO MANY PEOPLE GOOGLE THE COMPANY AND YOU CAN SEE ALL THE SCAMS HE HAS DONE. IHE IS NOT LINCESNSED OR INSURED BUT TELLS YOU HE IS. HE ARRIVED AT OUR HOUSE WITH ONLY 2 SAMPLES OF CABINTS AND 3 STABS OF GARNITE WE WENT THOUGH ALL THE MEASUREMENT AND DETAILS WITH HM AD HE SEEMD TO KNOW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. WE THEN WROTE UP A CONTACT WITH HIM AND HE WENT THOUGH IT WITH US IN DETAIL ABOUT THEW CABINETS AND GARNEITE WE CHOOSE. HE THEN REQUESTED A DEPSOIT FOR HALF OF THE CABINETS WHICH WAS 4600. WE GAVE HIM CASH AND HE GAVE US A RECIEPT FOR THE PAYMENT. aAFTER THIS IS WHEN THE PROPBLEM STARTED WE TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO GET IN TOUCH WITH HIM AND IF WE DID GET HIM ON THE PHONE HE KEPT GIVING US THE RUN AROUND THAT THE ORDER WAS PLACED HE WILL GET COMFORMATION THEN HE CLAIMED THAT HE HAD HALF THE ORDER AND WAS WAITING FOR THEOTHER HALF AND WOULD CALL US TO TELL US WHEN HE WOULD BE THERE TO INSTALL. AGAIN WE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM THEN WHEN WE GOT IN TOUCH WITH HIM HE TOLD US HE WAS TRIED OF OUR PHONE CALLS AND HE WAS NOT GOING TO COME AND HE WOULD REFUND US OUR MONEY. WHICH WAS ANOTHER LIE. THEN WE CALLED HIM A AGIAIN AND HE SAID HE SENT A LETTER WE TOLD HIM DONT BOTHER TO SEND A LETTER UNLESS IT HAS A CHECK WE TOLD HIM WE WANTED MNEY OR CABINETS HE TOLD US HE WOULD SEE IF HE HAD THE WHOLE ORDER AND GET BACK TO US IF WE COULD PICK THEM UP ONCE AGAIN WE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM NOW WE HAVE THE POLICE INVOVLED UPDATED OCTOBER 1, 2012: this is actually an update, he just changed his number to 631-6712155 to find new victims as we covered him from every angleSo far he have not paid us back our money but we do whatever we can to make sure he goes on early retirement

These customers are complete LIARS and are totally crazy people. He called me for a kitchen estimate and sent me his kitchen layout for his pricing, After giving him his estimate he explained to me that my price was much cheaper than the 2 previous estimates he received from 2 local companies that I know, he also explained to me that these 2 companies would not return his calls to do his kitchen ( 1st warning sign ) After discussing our business practice to the customer and asking him to come to my office/showroom to sign his contracts and order his kitchen the customer asked if we would please make an exception to our rules because he was guarantying to do business with us and asked if we could please come to his home in White Plains to complete the contracts and place the order, He insisted he knew exactly what he wanted and there was no need to bring any other samples except the door they chose, I granted his request and drove to his home with his sample and 3 others I thought he might like just to make sure they were 100% on their choice. After spending 4 hours on a Sunday evening re-designing his kitchen to meet his wifes requests the customer signed the contract and agreed to the price. The contract calls for a 50% deposit which the customer was told during several phone conversations prior to our meeting, the customer only gave a 20% deposit and asked if I could order his cabinets and promised he would have the balance to me within a few days via a friend. After a week and a half of phone calls I finally had to agree to meet the customer's in Manhattan to receive the balance of his deposit and complete his order for the cabinets. I then ordered his cabinets and received most of the order within 4 days, called the customer to keep him informed, then received the remaining 4 cabinets a few days later. While I was waiting for the 4 cabinets I received many phone calls from his wife inquiring about her cabinets and not liking the fact that the had to wait a extra few days for the completed order (still within the time frame stated on their contract) The following day I receive several calls from the wife and also text messages saying she will not wait any longer and is Canceling her contract and wants her money back.... I informed her she would be receiving a letter and had to sign it to be able to cancel her contract since the 72hrs. allowed by contract law had expired 4 days earlier, She proceeded to give me a hard time and make demands !! At this point I received a call from the customer inquiring about his order and explained to him what had been going on with his wifes calls an text messages, He assured me his wife would not do that and asked for a call monday to set up an installation date, while we were discussing his kitchen his wife called 3 times on another phone line and I answered it the last time and told her I was on the other line with her husband, she hangs up and I informed the customer it was his wife that kept interrupting our conversation and he asks me to please disregard what his wife is asking and blames her crazy behavior on her being pregnant !!!! I continue our conversation and the customer asks about the letter I planed on sending, I explained his time frame for canceling had expired, his cabinet order had been complete and instead of charging them a restocking fee to send everything back which is 25% (standard in the industry) I was only going to charge him a VERY modest fee of $500 for the more than 10 hours I had invested in his job !!! He did not feel he should lose anything and my time should not cost him anything (no concept of reality) He asked if we could please just forget all the crazy things his wife has been saying and doing and promised me I did not have to deal with his CRAZY pregnant wife (quoted) !!!!!! I explained to him I would re write his contract and fax him a copy to be signed and sent back and then he could come pay the remainder of the balance on the cabinets and our business would be complete..... He agrees to this and we conclude our conversation ( 2:39 to 2:57pm Monday afternoon) The next morning Tuesday at 10:08 am I receive a voice mail from the customer that I have been avoiding him and it has been over 24hrs. since we spoke and now he feel he is being avoided and he will now be coming for me and proceeds to make threats on my voice mail (not smart) What happened between 3pm monday afternoon and 10am tuesday morning I have no idea, nor do I care at this point because I have come to the conclusion that both and his wife are totally out of control and are both off the deep end !!!!!! They can't even add up simple days or hours !!! I do quote times and document them because I have a blackburry which keeps perfect phone records of all calls, the time, the duration and also all text messages !!!! After all this goes on with these crazy people has a so called associate call me several times starting tuesday mid morning a 1/2 hour after he leaves his threatening voice mail and the person on the other end of the phone gives me my HOME address and insists he will be at my house promptly at 5pm to collect the customers money or else !!!! And continues to call me and make DEATH threats to myself and my wife and children !!!!!! This was all documented and given to the local police after the person informed me that I have no idea what kind of people I was dealing with and implied that they were connected to some sort of Israilie mob or something !!! TRYING to sound tough and big on the other end of a phone..... Now the customer will not only lose any money given for a deposit but will be facing CRIMINAL charges once his funny friend is located that called from 917-734-xxxx and claimed to be the tough guy and a hit man!!!! Hopefully the customer will be spending a little time in a jail to understand that just because he makes demands, no matter how wrong he is, We have a different way of doing business in this country ( another quote from this customer) As far as the slander and negative feedback and lies we will also be suing him for loss of income as per his contract and stupid decisions !!!! Also now that we have his cabinets and will no longer be doing business with him we have a wonderful set of antique white cabinets we will be auctioning off at a very reduced price !!! We also encourage our customers and potential customer to come to our REAL business location in Bohemia New York to see all our cabinet choices and selections, Where we build our customers cabinets, fabricate our customers Granite counter tops, and customize any cabinets our customers need !!!! We will soon be posting many customer referrals and positive feedback now that we see Angies list provides for customer feed back for non-paying customers !!! We thank Angies list for this and will be taking full advantage of it since most people never see all the praise form customers but only provide an outlet for the very few that complain !!!! We provide and complete over 150 kitchens per year and receive 1 complaint every 2 years or so !!! This shows in the fact that over 70% of our business is completely by referral and we sell to many professionals including contractors, investors and so on that continue to come back time and time again because of our outstanding service and low pricing, We have many contractors who have purchased over 20 kitchens each in the last several years !!!! That kind of repeat business speaks for itself !!! This is why we consider ourselves to be one of the best in our business !!!!!! Over 150 customers a year can't be wrong and the customer be correct !!!!!!!!!!! We also have plenty recent customer referrals we provide to potential clients to call and check to speak and see how their kitchen turned out and how much value and money they saved over dealing with our competitors !!!!!!!

I initially got his name off of Craig's List. I own a coop that was vacant at the time. I gave him a key and expected him to renovate the kitchen. He never showed up. I had to hound him, and hound him. He had a hundred excuses why he couldn't come, and he was always canceling. Finally, he did the work, and he did a really good job. I gave his name to my best friend, she gave him $3000, and he never showed up! She had to finally take him to court. She won the law suit, but he doesn't have any money to pay her back. I would never ever use him again.

The member's kitchen was completed within 8 days and she was very happy, Unfortunately she introduced me to her friend which also wanted a kitchen, gave a deposit then skipped off to FLA. for almost 6 weeks, then returns and decides her and her girlfriend prefer a different color kitchen and expects me to just keep the cabinets and buy her new ones !!!! Unfortunately that is not the way business works, you have 72 hrs. to change your mind NOT 72 days. Now she is just upset I wouldn't cave to her girlfriends wild expectations and is saying she had to chase me and track me down to get her kitchen completed !!!!! BUT it was a wonderful perfect job !!!! REALLY !!! A new kitchen removed and installed within 8 days of contract is far quicker than 99% of any kitchen company in business, This is why we complete over 150 kitchens per year, we are one of the fastest in the industry and have many many commercial clients that buy over and over from us each year..... She and her girlfriend are just upset that we have a no nonsense approach to business and refuse to play games and give in to the sweet old lady routine !!!!
