I had no intention of paving my driveway until maybe two years from now. Jimmy came to our door and talked with me about their FAMILY business. I like family businesses. They are local to me, same town. They had eleven people working, and I mean WORKING. The crew was at top speed in an attempt to beat the incoming rain storm. When done, the driveway was beautiful. Smooth, level, straight. I was very pleased

I had two driveways needing paving, one was a dirt driveway while the other had deteriorated asphalt. I asked for estimates from a small number of select contractors. JS Asphalt responded quickly and provided fair and reasonable estimates within a day, so I hired them. They put me on their schedule and came as promised. They had a large experienced and knowledgeable crew, had good equipment, worked as a team, were friendly, answered my questions, addressed my concerns immediately, respected my property, paid attention to the small details, cleaned the jobsite, did the job correctly, did everything they promised in their estimates, and the results for both driveways look FANTASTIC. They earned and deserve my five-star rating.

They were extremely prompt with the estimate and installation of the driveway. The crew was great to deal with and did everything and more of what they promised. Would definitely recommend them to anyone and have. I’ve got numerous comments on the work they did.

First of all I want to thank Heidi, she was excellent! She really explained everything in detail. She knows the business in and out which made it an easy decision to go with this company. Also, Jim (the owner) and his entire team showed up and they weren't wasting any time on doing an awesome job on our big driveway. It was amazing to see all the guys and machines moving up and down the driveway which was in such despair. Not only did they regrade our driveway getting rid of all the potholes they added stone to the entire driveway and then they paved it. They definitely surpassed our expectations from start to finish. If anybody needs paving these are definitely the pros to call!!!

I hired this company to replace my driveway and I explained in details what job supposed to be done. They requested some money at front. When the time came to do the job, they was delayed for a week and no calls to let you know they are delayed. Then they showed up and decided not to do the job, they simply walk away from the job. They are extremely unprofessional. Now I will be not be able to do the driveway until next year because everybody is booked and they also don't return your money. basically from my point of view, they steal your money and screw you up. Do not give this people any job. They claim to be a family company but the true is they are trash!

They came out the day after I called to look at the site and we went over the scope of work. Heidi said she would get an estimate to me within the week. That was a lie. After numerous voice messages I left were never returned and several answered calls giving me the run around and promising they would get an estimate to me, I finally received it seven weeks after I had met them on site. The estimate was 4 times more than the next highest bid. I got four other bids. JS Asphalt clearly did not want to do the work. I did not hire this company. FYI - I'm a licensed Architect in NY and CA with over 35 years of experience. I would advise my clients to not hire this company.

Excellent work. It was a tricky job, given the slope, old driveway condition (well over 20 years old and in real rough shape), and addition of a retaining wall and drain where there wasn't one before. Chose an unusual wall solution, but it came out pretty good. Blocks were delivered late on first day, which pushed the job into a second day, but there was never a complaint from the crew. Jim and Heidi listened to our wants and needs, and delivered.

My husband & I were very impressed with J.S. Asphalt (Jim Stanley) from the beginning! After our initial phone call, they responded right away, came to look at it the same day, and gave us a reasonable price. They also came the following week to do the installation, and did a fantastic job! We were both impressed with J.S. Aphalt's crew as well, they were all hard working, and very professional! We would highly recommend J.S. Asphalt to anyone!

After 2 failed attempts from other paving companies to follow thru on scheduling after doing estimate, I saw signs for JS. Their estimator responded quickly and I liked their $2400 price and 1 year guarantee so I put down $100 to tear up old driveway and do replacement. We discussed sealant options and she said they would get back to me about pricing. I was considering oil based application at time of installation which she said had 3 year guarantee. I never received a contract in writing and after not hearing anything for a month I called. They found my info but acknowledged I hadn't been put on a schedule, but would fit me in as we wanted it done before track season and hot July weather. They came within a week after notifying us ahead of time which I thought was great response considering our rainy weather. The tear out and replacement was done in 1 morning and other then losing a couple flowers in a bordering bed, everything looked great. They were getting ready to leave when I asked about the sealant. The crew chief called their office as it had not been put on their work order. He quoted a price of $1200 which I thought was high being almost half of the deconstruction/installation process. So then he said since they were on site he could do it for a $1000. I still thought that was high but he said the cost was for high quality oil based sealant that cost $25 per gallon from NYC. 40 gallons seemed like a lot for my small driveway but I did not want to use latex based so we went ahead. I called the office to express my concern over the price and they confirmed it was correct and also noted there was not a 3 year guarantee on the sealant, but it only needed to be sealed once every 3 years. They did confirm one year guarantee on any problems with the asphalt and apologized as they said the crew chief was new. I requested the paperwork be sent to me and the crew chief came back the next day and dropped it off along with a $100 check as I overpaid forgetting my down payment. I tried to compare oil based sealant costs on line and it appears I was charged twice as much for the oil spray on sealant that took 15 minutes to apply. The driveway looks great but their is a slight depression near the street that collects water so we will see how much ice builds up in winter. My neighbor told me two days later that the crew chief came over to his house and gave him an estimate for $5000 to replace the same sized driveway. I'm thinking of notifying the BBB regarding the pricing issues as it seems their office staff was disorganized and confused which let this crew chief set the pricing. My fault for not getting it in writing up front. We will see if they follow thru on their one year asphalt guarantee.

Jimmy came the same day we called to give us an estimate. He then wanted to come the following week to do the job, but we had to delay it because of other work we had done to our house. As soon as the weather cooperated, the job was completed. They did a thorough job and the results look great!

After receiving an initial estimate from JS Asphalt and then adjusting the scope of the work, we never received a response back, even after several phone calls. We ended up having to find another company to complete the job.

I was told he (being Jim) was out doing estimates and we were added to the list. Not only did he call first so that we could be present at my MIL's house, he showed as promised, quoted on the spot and said they could be there as early as next day!! AND, they were!! It was a small, pesky job as crusher and asphalt had to be wheel-barrowed in and they just did the job with great attitudes they did an AWESOME job of matching the existing with the new- AND they made my MIL happy - TOUGH job! Truly an elegant solution!!

The work was well done. Actually they started the job and I called a friend who dealt with building roads to come supervise because I was not happy about what they were about to do, but they did a great job when somebody was watching them. It was a situation of changing the angle of the driveway. What they told me they were going to do, did not look like what they were going to do when they put the markings on it; so I yelled for help. They might have done it right because he said he would cut it up higher if it needed it, but it was one of those when the boss was here, he left the workers, and they did a fantastic job when they got done with it. They extended the job to fix another driveway. What would've happened if I had not called for help, I'm not sure. The only thing I disagreed with was price went up from the quote I had last year, and when they did the work, they ended up charging me more. The price of asphalt had gone up and it sounded right. Then the next day in the newspaper, our town supervisor said they were going to re-build several roads this year because the price of asphalt was the lowest it's been in four years. I don't think the price was as good as I thought it was going to be. For the amount of work I got done, they said they were only charging for the asphalt for the rest of it. We checked the price of asphalt, confronted them about overcharging us for asphalt, and he said they had to make something on the work, but that was okay. They did do a good job.

Great! Jim and his crew were here at 7 A.M and started immediately. They leveled the drive, added and subtracted gravel where needed, paved and rolled. We had made some changes, and these were included with no problem. They worked all day until both driveways were completed and everything cleaned up. The crew was pleasant and had no problems answering questions. We are very pleased with the results.

J S Asphalt paved us a beautiful walkway quickly and when they saw our disabled son come home on the school bus they decided this job was on them to help our family. This is a wonderful company with heart which is very hard to find these days! We would highly recommend them!

We have a very large driveway. They gave a competitive quote. They arrived right on time and did a good job. We'll hire them next year to do our seal coating.
