Liam spent about 3 hours at our house - he was incredibly thorough and professional! As he worked, he explained what he was doing and what he was measuring. When he was done, he sat down with us and explained what he had found. He also made suggestions about work we could have done to improve our home's energy efficiency. What struck me most was how candid and honest he was. We had been thinking that we may get windows to help save on our energy bills, and this was on the list of possible improvements Liam suggested. But, he explained that even if we replaced ALL of our windows with triple pane Triple-E windows, we would only save about $70/year, making it not very cost effective. At no point was he pushy - everything he talked about was purely for our information and we were free to take or leave his recommendations with no pressure. In fact, no decisions were made the day he did our energy audit - he simply went over the report with us. A couple of days later he sent us the full write up and we contacted him about the work we wanted to have done. Liam also helped us secure financing through the On-Bill Recovery program being offered through NYSRDA and National Grid. So, we are having air sealing done, adding insulation, and having a combination boiler/tankless hot water heater installed with no out-of-pocket costs to us. We are in the process of having our loan approved and then work will begin. If I am able, I will update this review after work is complete.
Description of Work: Liam O'Neill came to our home and performed an energy audit. We qualified for a free energy audit through NYSERDA. This was an extensive audit that had Liam climing into parts of our home I have never seen! The audit included information about heating/cooling, air sealing, insulation, appliances and electronics, windows, etc.
