Hired Paul, Michael and his team during the pandemic as no other general contractors are allowed to work during April 2020. He was recommended by a real estate agent friend that praised on all his work. We hired him to renovate full gut on 2 bathrooms, workmanship is very sloppy and uneven, all the materials used are low quality. We had to purchase items ourselves because everything we wanted was "not included" in the price quote, meanwhile we told him exactly what we wanted for the 2 bathrooms. We end up spending $5000 extra on things that paul did not include on top of the $40,000 that we paid. After the job was complete, paul guaranteed his work, so i paid him, if any problems he will come fix. Literally the day after job completion i texted him about the shower door and cracked tiles, as you can see almost 10 months later, still no response. Thats not how you treat a referral customer or any paying customer. He talks a lot of BS and even bad mouth us to our good friend that recommended him after. Everything is yes yes yes until things need to be done then its no i cannot do that. Seems like he has excuses for everything. Would not recommend, please beware

From start to finish, Paul and his men were creative, smart, prompt, professional, clean, accommodating, and easy to work with. We knew we wanted a dream kitchen, having waited 15 years after living in the house to re-do the kitchen. We keep kosher, and therefore needed help designing a kitchen that would maximize use of space to give us the most cabinet space we could get. We had gotten plans from a kitchen cabinet/design store, which Paul initially looked at and then revised with more creative ideas. He realized that if we closed up a single, regular-style door to our deck and put sliding doors in the dining room instead, we could install another whole 8-foot bank of 12" deep cabinets. This one idea was what ultimately made our kitchen the functional dream it now is. Paul just has an amazing eye for what can be done with space. He also helped us visualize how we could cathedral part of the ceiling after we discovered a support beam that would prevent us from raising the entire ceiling. Paul also led us to suppliers for cabinets, tile, granite, and electrical supplies that were great, reasonably priced, and with great selection and professionalism. While Paul himself -- the owner -- does not actually do the work (he does a lot of commercial work, I think), he closely oversees the workmen (in fact, the crew is led by Paul's own brother-in-law.) He comes by frequently at the end of a segment of the work to ensure quality and trouble-shoot any little problems. He is on top of his crew, and only the electrician and the plumber were subcontracted. Everyone else, from carpentry, to tiling, etc., actually work for the company, so they are directly answerable to Paul. The workmen were neat, making sure to cover everything carefully when work was going to produce dust, sweeping up after themselves, etc. And they were very accommodating with minor last-minute changes we wanted to make (like not liking the original paint color on one wall and wanting it re-done.) Paul himself had a great eye for the finishing touches, like moldings on the edges of base cabinets, thin moldings in the corners to cover the tiny, fraction-of-an-inch gaps between the ends of the cabinets and the walls, etc., that made the finished product look really professional. We are thrilled with the finished product, as well as with the process, and when we are ready to do our main bathroom in a year or two, we have no doubt that we will use Modern again!
