Our experience with LI Decking was amazing. From start to finish...Jay and his team made our deck dream into a reality. Look no further, Jay's planning and design coupled with Jose's eye for perfection during the reface made me confident that we made the right choice!

I need to start out by saying I have no affiliation or ties to LI Decking. Jay (owner of LI Decking) was a complete stranger to my family and I when I found him via Google during my search for a deck builder. However, now that our deck is complete, I consider Jay a friend. I chuckled when I saw his business card on our counter the other day, it says “Consult – Design – Install”. Notice two-thirds of the “process” on his card acknowledge that there is so much more to a customer’s experience, than just the end-product (deck) they receive from him. He truly delivered on all fronts. After being burned during our kitchen renovation last August by a local contractor (I wish I had the time to delve into that one), let’s just say my wife and I were a bit hesitant to trust someone to tear down an old rotted wood deck we inherited on our new home and install a new Trex deck. We’re not the Jones’s, just a hard working middle-class couple who want something nice to entertain on. Price point was huge to us (we’re as frugal as they come), but sometimes it’s the trust factor that wins you over. Jay earned our trust from the moment he stepped in our door. He’s a straight forward, honest guy, who delivered on every single item he outlined to us. You could tell he was probably busier than the other half dozen decking companies we had over for estimates, because he didn’t make promises that seemed too good to be true to win over our business. Jay under promised and over delivered big time. He gave us reasonable timelines, real practical advice for designing our deck (with a very nice 3D rendering which helped my wife visualize everything) and was honestly a pleasure to deal with throughout the whole process. In 3 consecutive days, his team demo’d our old deck/poured concrete posts, framed and built the new deck, then completed our grand stairwell that is well over 9 ft long and is the perfect complement to our 8’x7’ custom Andersen slider. His team cleaned up every last nail/minuscule scrap of wood from both the old and new decks. My wife and I have two boys under 3 years old, with a birthday party for well over 20 kids planned within 24 hours of the deck being completed. Needless to say we were a bit worried that there would be nails or small sharp pieces of wood stuck in the grass. I fine combed our entire yard and found not one scrap in it after Jay’s team was done. I told my wife I was shocked that they would take the time out to really clean up that well. Again, going above and beyond expectations. I am the type of person that researches and reads reviews online for everything before purchasing. If you are the same as me and are jaded against the stereotypical contractor/home improvement company; set those worries aside and understand that the genuine person you see when you meet Jay, is not just a façade that vanishes once he has your deposit. He is that same person even after that final payment is placed in his palm. That is the reason I call Jay a friend. He is a good man, works hard, and delivers quality work while making you feel like you’re his best friend he’s helping build a deck for. If the world were filled with Jay’s, consumers like us would be all the better. Unfortunately, the world isn’t. So be sure to trust your gut and all the reviews you read online. I found the website for Long Island Decking while searching for a decking contractor and called for an appointment. From the first meeting with the owner Jay to discuss replacing an existing deck and adding a staircase, I had complete confidence in moving forward to contract to do the job. Jay listens to your needs, assesses your space, and works with you to create the perfect deck design. He conducts himself professionally, responds to calls, text, and emails quickly. He is detail oriented and makes you feel like your job is his one and only priority. Jose and the work team were a pleasure to deal with. They arrived at the scheduled time on work days and began work promptly, worked clean and efficiently. Our new deck is beautiful! It turned out better than we could have even imagined. The product quality and workmanship are impeccable. We could not have asked for a better experience. Without hesitation, we highly recommend Long Island Decking.

Long Island Decking did an amazing job! The deck is basically an extension of the house, since it is level with the back doors, so its added another "room" for us to spend time in. Looking forward to making lots of lasting memories in our new space! The crew was professional and so fast. The entire project was done in a week. Would definitely recommend this company.

The replacement of our deck went very well. The staff were excellent workers and completed everything they were suppose to do. I would highly recommend this company. The owner takes pride in his company and is very attentive to the work that is being done and follows up with phone calls.

It went great. They did the job quickly, in about one week. They removed everything without disrupting any of my property. They gave us many choices for the new deck and whatever they said it would look like, it did end up looking like that.

We got 4 estimates for our deck & Long Island Decking came in right about mid range. We had 2 estimates lower & 1 higher but went with them because we liked them the best. We had a little bit of a scheduling issue, but Jay & Kim worked right there with us on everything. We also, due to other issues, had to re-do the size of the deck as originally planned from a 16x20 to a 12x12 and Jay was very understanding & spent as much time with us as we needed. They broke down the old deck, had the inspector there 2 hrs later, & by the time I got home from work the entire deck except for the railings & the LED lights was done! Couldn't believe how fast they worked! Were they a bit pricier than others? Yes, but we have no regrets at all! We'd most definitely recommend them (& have already done so to 2 others people) and would absolutely use them again. Thanks so much Jay & Kim!

Very professional and neat. Did what they said they would do. Addresses all my concerns and questions and completed job on time.

Pleasure to negotiate with owner. Compared to other contractors we interviewed. decking was in line in place. Crew showed up on time, were extremely professional and accommodating. Finished results was better than I expected.

The masonry & decking groups were always punctual, polite and skilled. Each day of deck installation we received a call from the owner telling us what would be done the next day and when they would arrive. He was well informed on municipality mandated inspections.

They were horrible on the estimate. I got them from Angie’s List. It took them three weeks to get back to me and then they were twice as expensive as everybody else was. The sales personnel didn’t give me a quote. He came out to look at it. A few days later, I got an email from their office saying that from this point forward the estimate will be turned over to Jay, the owner. Two and a half weeks past, I had turned my head and already contracted with somebody else. Then they happened to call me and as I said, he was twice as expensive as everybody else was. The person who came to look at the deck, he was punctual but it fell apart from there.

Beautiful job from start to finish but costly

The contractor left a message, I tried to reach him, leaving a message, but we never connected. I plan to follow up with the company, and may pay a visit to their showroom.

They took out an old patio and put in a new one with pavers. They did an excellent job; they did exactly what we had discussed. The workman that they used was very cooperative and changing anything that we wanted changed while they were doing work. I just faced one problem which they are going to resolve somehow, which is, the pavers are laid in a fashion that water will run off them but the drains that they have put in are actually under the ground and they are very slow to drain, so they are going to come and see what they can do to fix that.

I received estimates from 7 different vendors. They were highest and by a decent margin. Same work, square footage, and brand of material were estimated. In fact, they refused to supply a written estimate and I now understand why. My phone only quote if 'between 22k and 26k was a full 5k above the next highest estimate. Also, 8k above the lowest. Maybe paying for ad dollars or pretty booklets but I am not sure how they are competitive otherwise.

This was overall a great experience.

Service was complete as promised and work is satisfactory. bit pricing could have been a bit more reasonable.

John the salesman was on time and gave information to Jay the owner who gave us quote and 3D rendering of what each would look like. John and his crew were fabulous. Did professional work and clean up.

Everything started ok. I made an appointment, they showed up on time. The person doing the estimate, Mr. Gentile, was very professional. Informed me it would be between 2 days and a week to get the estimate. A week passed, no estimate. Finally received an email from Jay Oliver, all it stated was the proposal was ready and I needed to come to their office to review. Come to their office? I have never had to come to someone's office just to receive an estimate. I responded asking for the estimate via email. I never received a response. I sent another email asking for the estimate explaining I would not be able to come to their office. Several days later I received an email stating that they would like to discuss the estimate on the phone before sending. I called their office twice in response. I am still waiting for some kind of response. I have not received an email or phone call back from them since that last contact. This company has been one of the worst I have dealt with in regards to communications.Absolutely horrible. I would not recommend them to anyone. UPDATE I finally met with Jay. He was very professional and explained everything in great detail. I am very pleased with the estimate that he provided and the expertise he exhibited with building decks. If we do decide to move forward with a deck I will definitely use Long Island Decking.

It was a wonderful stress free experience

Had a great experience down from the first meeting with Jay. He knew his product through and through. He showed different samples of different products but I chose to go with the Trex Tracends. If i had any question or concerns I would call up the office and talk with Kim and she would have Jay get right back in touch with me. From day one when Mike and his crew Showed up they worked hard and quick only took a total of 5 day to do everything. So if you are looking to put a deck in your backyard go with LI Decking.
