Ralph Muffler Flooring

This is the second time we had Ralph install flooring for us. His team is awesome!! They are meticulous in their work. They showed up on time, were courteous, professional and communicated well with us. They encountered a few problems and we discussed how to fix them. You never know what you are going to find when you pull up old carpet! They went above and beyond. Our floors are beautiful. We will definitely recommend them.

Ralph was great. He told me exactly what I needed to do to prepare and what I could do to lower the cost of the project. The work was performed in less than two days.

Ralph did an excellent job. He is thorough and precise. The job was impeccable. Will be using him in the future for my next project.

I went to Harmon Flooring in Rochester, NY and priced cork floating floor materials for my kitchen. I asked about installation and they recommended Ralph Muffler. They loaned me the display sample of the pattern I chose. I called Mr Muffler and made an appointment for a free estimate the following week. When he arrived, he requested the material estimation provided by Harmon and measured my floors (I had given the figure of 200 sq ft to Harmon, the area was actually 210 sq ft.) Mr. Muffler asked if I wanted the existing linoleum on luon flooring removed, or the new floor installed over the old one. I asked for removal which he estimated at $315 in addition to installation cost. The total he estimated, which included the material cost which he in turn paid Harmon (3.29 per sq ft), the tearout, and the installation was $1800. Of this $800 was for material, sales tax and delivery (Ransom delivered the material several days before the install to let the cork acclimate to my interior conditions); $315 for tearout and the remainder for installation. Mr. Muffler offered to return the sample for me to Harmon when he went there to order materials. Prior to the date of installation, Mr. Muffler called and and arranged a date for the material to be delivered so that it could acclimate the the interior conditions in my kitchen for a couple of days. When the cork was delivered, I discovered that Mr Muffler had also ordered wood for footings around my cabinets and transitions (or thresholds) for the doorways to other rooms and closets. On the first and second days of installation Ralph and his helper arrived promptly by 8:30 each day. They hung plastic sheeting over interior doorways and protecting counters to contain dust. They had arrived with everything required for the job. They asked a couple of questions about my preferences as the job progressed, but otherwise worked efficiently and with no unnecessary disturbance to me. Both Mr. Muffler and his assistant were extremely pleasant to talk to, as well as being thoroughly knowledgeable about their job - they anticipated every issue and did a number of things I never would have thought of myself until I was in the middle of things. They completely respected my house. The job they did was flawless and beautiful. They cleaned my kitchen completely of any mess they caused - sweeping up and so forth. They matched colors of my cabinetry for staining the wood for the footings and the thresholds. After they left I discovered that they had even discovered a decorative panel that had fallen of the base of my dishwasher ages ago and which I had misplaced after a couple of attempts at putting it back, and they had put it back on the dishwasher. The cost of the entire job was exactly what they had estimated. My kitchen was as usable the minute they left as it had been before they started. I cannot say enough good things about Muffler's work, the look, the beautifully mitered corners on the flooring, the matching of new wood to old cabinetry, the foresight and professionalism of both Mr. Muffler and Mike, his assistant. I felt the cost of the job was very reasonable. I will not only use Ralph Muffler Flooring if I have future needs for flooring, but I will also contact them for recommendations for any other home repair/installation work I need.
