It was a pleasure doing business with this company from start to finish.

I found Lis Upholstery on Angie's List. It only had a few reviews. The few it had had been very happy with the work, and then the word "punctual" jumped out at me. It's rare to find that in New York City and all other things being equal, I called them on a Saturday morning and left a message. Later in the afternoon I received a return call from Robert, the co-owner. I told him what needed doing and asked if he serviced Manhattan, since Lis is located in Queens. He did, and we set up an appointment for him to come to the apartment. There is a total $50 pickup and delivery fee for Manhattan but the consultation was free. Sure enough, Robert was punctual for the appointment. I walked him through all that had to be done. I have to say he was friendly, professional and offered several recommendations of how to proceed. He did not dawdle. The whole visit probably took about 45 minutes, most of which was spent discussing how to reattach the ottoman.Earlier in the process I had measured the cushions for him, and he had given me a quote on the phone, which seemed fine. I hadn't had cushions stuffed before but everything seemed reasonable, and there was a 10% discount for Angie's List members. The final price was exactly as he had quoted. Before he left, I wrote a deposit for about half the cost of the work. He told me the work would be completed in a week and a half, two weeks the latest. After a week and a half I was tired of not having my cushy armchair to sit on, so I called just in case things were ready. He said they were and he could drop everything off the next day. Once again, he was punctual, and he brought everything with him. I examined it all, sat on everything and couldn't have been more pleased. I paid him the rest of what I owed (the exact amount of the original quote), and off he went. Again, good-humored and professional. He even took a few minutes to help me fix a wooden valance on my blinds that had come off. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

From start to finish, a more positive experience could not have been had. My husband and I went in to pick out window treatments, and Robert and Eddie took tons of time (despite it being near closing time) educating us on the Hunter Douglas products available, helping to select the color, thickness, size....never once making us feel rushed or dumb for not knowing anything about blinds! They never pushed a more expensive product, nor tried to get us to commit before we left the store. Before we got to the car, we just knew in our guts that we didn't have to look elsewhere, and booked the job. Robert and Eddie came out personally a few days later, took all the measurements, and had me take a final look at the book of samples to be sure I was getting what I wanted. They were exactly right that the products came in a couple of weeks later, and they scheduled installation immediately. They came exactly when they said they would, and were in and out in no time. We LOVE the blinds, but we also love this store. It's sad that we've come to expect problems or "issues" or rudeness as coming with the territory (especially in NYC) and it's a shame that these guys stand out so vividly as an example of What TO Do, but they do! They could teach a course in being a good businessperson. As they were leaving, I told them I wished I had more windows or more projects for them, or that they were also in some other kind of business, because I would hire them again in a nanosecond for anything. Kind, genuine, affable, professional, punctual, trustworthy...I really can't say enough.

Eddie and Robert could not have been more accomodating and helpful during the entire process. The interaction with the owners was easy and comfortable at all times. These 2 owners of LIS Upholstery are true professionals and deserve the great business they have! They earned it!
