Lion is incompetent and lazy, and I would NEVER recommend the company. I had a GE Zoneline installed in my apartment that was consistently making excessively loud noises (75+ decibels) so Lion replaced it, but the new unit makes the same noises. Lion initially stated it had never heard those sounds before and did not know the cause, but now says it is normal. I reached out to the design team at GE and it said the unit was not functioning properly. After showing Lion GE’s response, Lion still refuses to acknowledge there is a problem and will not fix it. In addition, Lion is incapable of logically comprehending that a quality PTAC unit should NOT make noises of 75+ decibels (equivalent to a coffee grinder or Mack truck).

Stay away!! These people are highly unethical and will cheat and lie at every opportunity. Their pattern is accurately described in other reviews: First they come and tell you that you need such-and such replaced; that doesn't work, so they say they'll get back to you to schedule another visit. They never do, so you call and eventually they schedule another visit (after once again taking your credit card number). Then they say you also need another part replaced. Once again, having not heard back in several weeks, you call and they set up a time for the service to replace the other part. That part, too, doesn't solve the problem, so they say they need to take the whole HVAC unit to the shop and get back to you. Of course, they never do, so you call back. They tell you that they'll check on the status and get back to you THAT DAY. Of course, they don't, so you call again: Blah, blah, blah blah. I have now initiated formal complaints at the Better Business Bureau and the NYC Dept. of Consumer affairs and am planning on taking them to small claims court for the $1,000+ already paid to them with nothing to show for it.

My building super recommended these guys. They did not show up for the first appointment. For the second appointment, two techs came - they were friendly and helpful but said the unit needed to go in for repair and that it would take 3 weeks. It took 3 months. They repeatedly ignored my calls, did not keep me informed of what was wrong with the unit, and charged me something like $800 for the repair. The unit does not work as efficiently as it did before, neither with the heating or the cooling. The only positive thing about the experience was that the techs who came to my house were very nice and they cleaned the filter of the other unit in the bedroom for a discounted rate. That said, the bedroom unit is now broken 6 months later, so here I am looking for a new repair service...

$1000.00 down the drain, and I still need to purchase a new unit
Description of Work: My apartment building has used this company for many years. Their service and products have steadily deteriorated. I have six separate HVAC units, all purchased through this company. Half of them are no longer working, and in this last episode they have charged me for multiple service calls for the same issue, finally telling me, after the unit emitted sparks when turned on and after spending approximately $1000.00 for repair attempts, that I needed a new unit for an additional $2000.00. Concurrently, a second unit that they installed a few years ago ( i believe three)) just started emitting smoke and gas. I have asked them to reserve this unit a number of times since their installation, because it did not work properly, and was making an unusual noise that they could not identify. A third unit continues to alternate between cool and warm air, despite multiple service calls. My building is in the process of looking for a new vendor to use, as my experience is more the norm and not an exception.

The technician came on time, did what was required and the unit now works very well, and it was less than $150 for the entire process. David also got me a manual for the unit and recommended when to change the filters. It was, if you can say this about an AC repair, a great experience.
Description of Work: Analysis of a water-cooled AC unit. One company told me it needed to be replaced because it was "old", but it was only 5 years old. I called around and a vendor who did not deal in this type of unit recommended Lion. I spoke with the owner, David Schrier, and he was honest and informative. We had been told the filter in the unit had been replaced, but it had not been. The technician came on time, replaced the filter, did some other cleaning and balancing of controls.
