John was a very personable man. He explained everything to us and addressed any concerns we had. The job was completed in a timely fashion. We had a second opinion on the job concerning the drip edge which was to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Tear off shingles on house and take away. Put ice and water shield over roof. Put flashing, ridge vents, used existing drip edge. Put metal choice of color on house and garage.

I have a ranch-style home with a two-car attached garage so my roof is pretty large. John, the owner, came for an estimate. I had a few other estimates. Two were around the same price and the other was $2,000 higher. I told John how my roof had been problem-prone since it was installed. I had terrible ice-dam problems every winter. Plus, the family room (which was added on by the previous owner several years after the house was built) had leaks in the winter and when it rained heavily. John inspected the roof and was surprised with the poor workmanship. It was a heavily advertised company - William C. Rott & Son. They weren't cheap! John explained that, in spite of what I was told, ice shields were not installed and the family room roof was not properly connected to the main house. I hired them for the job. I have been through two winters with this roof and for the first time in several years I had no leaks! I am very satisfied. John was very personable and easy to talk to. He explained everything well and answered all of my questions. When I have new doors installed, I will definitely use House to Home Improvements.
Description of Work: I had my old roof torn off and new roofing installed with ice shields and ridge vents.

1. Soffits on house to be fully vented. Vented Vinyl was used but no holes were cut into the existing soffit, it just look like it was vented. Soffits need to be removed vented and reinstalled. I noticed there was no debris from cutting vent holes so I took my ladder and removed 5 feet of soffit vinyl ther were no vents cut. 2. Garage roof. Contract for 40 year BP Everest shingles. He purchased IKO (I despise IKO he was well aware of this). The bundles were unwrapped and stacked on the roof. The Everest shingles are 30% thicker than the IKO, and have a far superior warranty. I became suspicious because of the wrapping removal. No roofer unwaps the bundles ahead of time. Roof was never put on. 3. The peaks on the house had Aluminium installed, the overlap is the wrong way and will allow water behind the Aluminium, this will rot the wood. It must be removed and replaced. 4. HE GAVE ME A PROOF OF LIABILITY INSURANCE CERTIFICATE, IT WAS A FORGERY!! HE HAS NO LIABILITY INSURANCE. 5. I fired him. We are headed to court. I was awarded buy Buffalo NY courts, the full amount spent on another contractor to correct and finish the job.
