We wanted the sturdiest steel-reinforced, nicest looking white vinyl fence. We wanted self closing gates. We got it all from Amendola's. The property has a huge backyard, so it was not cheap, but price is competitive, guarantee is the best in the industry and customer service is unbeatable.

See above. They also have to return this week to install one cap on one post because they brought all required caps but one.
Description of Work: Installed 160 feet of double-sided cedar fence. Put a cement collar around posts in ground without cement being under the posts, this way water does not get soaked up in bottom of posts, but cement keeps posts firm in ground. In very steep area they cut 3 8-foot long sections into 2 sections each, this way the stepped area did not leave too large of a gap between the bottom of the fence and the ground at the highest point--they agreed to do that work without extra charge. The team of 3 worked fast and hard and were very professional and on-time. The office departments have some issues though. The sales department promised me in signing the contract that they would do the work on a particular day I asked for, but then another department had to be called by me to after I got the permit to set up the installation date. The latter department said they do not work on the day the sales department promised me. Only after I pushed very hard to get the date that was promised my by the sales department did the other department agree to give me that date. Still, they did give me what was promised me, and they were cordial.

We needed a new gate for the side of the house which would be wide enough to fit a boat through. Shopped around and thought their product was superior to others. They made the product on site. The sales person was knowledgeable, and pleasant . We needed it by a certain date and it was done, The installer were very neat and professional. It was a little higher in price then others but I believe it was woth it.

My wife found the salesman a little off putting. He was a fast talker and a bit obnoxious. However I knew the product and decided to look past it. He did all the measuring figured out all the sections needed. the price was a bit more than i'd hoped, but competitive with other companies. The installation crew came on time on the appointed day. My only concern was a slight language barrier but we were able to get our messages across. The problem arose when the sections and lengths the salesman ordered were going end up in different spots on either side of the property. And on one side, the sections were going to end up with only a half section on the end. Since we were getting a scalloped picket fence in this area, it would not have looked very good. The foreman of the crew, Mario, was trying to figure out how toadjust the sections so they would look and quot;normaland quot;. In the mean time, I decided to call the salesman to ask if and quot;jury riggingand quot; these sections was the way they did business or could this problem have been anticipated when the measuring was done and compensated for! I was not very happy when I never got a return call. However, I cannot give enough praise for the way Mario worked out both the problem of the unevenness from one side of the property to the other and the half section problem. He reworked sections, adjusted positioning of gates and the final result was fantastic! He did a superb job. So other than the and quot;Cand quot; for the salesman's lack of concern, The end result is great, thanks to the install crew.

Husband and I went in to price and choose fencing to replace what came down in Sandy. We had a few styles in mind and asked prices on these. We did forget to bring the measurements that we would need but had an idea just for ballpark pricing. Hoped to choose and then go home re-measure and order. Salesmen were so rude I couldn't believe it. He gave us three prices begrudgingly and when asked for the fourth challenged us as to why since we didn't have the exact measurements. Shocked we left and went across the street to Home Depot. Prices very close mostly in HD's favor. Shall never darken their doors again.

I was warned about this company verbally, but I didn't listen. The sales person was not only rude, but seemed to think we should do his job for him. He did not return a call promptly, I had to chase him down. I did because their price was excellent, but when I did call back, I was told I had to pick up the contract at his office. I refused after thinking to myself, this is what sales people are these days? We did make an appointment to drop off the contract, but he showed up 10 minutes late. Unfortunately because the wait time was one month, the sales person was unable to budge on that, we said no. To which he shook his head and gave us a story about how busy they are. Busy enough to walk away from a woman with a checkbook in her hand and a $2200 sale.

the experince was great. from the time they arrived to the time they left they were nice and friendly. Do note that if you get gate doors they are not installed on that day so that the cemnent can dry. If you have dogs let them know they are very good on putting something there temporary until they return.

They gave me a quote. My husband found the gentlemen a little arrogant. He was late and my husband was not happy. It was a Sunday and his excuse was he was with a prior customer. My husband was sceptical. The guy rubbed my husband up the wrong way. I found him informative. He did his job. He gave us the quote. This was 3 weeks ago. I know the materials he suggested were good. He was a little out of our price range. We probably would not use them again.

May 24, 2013 - Updated Review No fence hardware has been received as of yet. That is the only outstanding issue. Am I surprised? Only a little bit because of the terrible history of this transaction. I almost thought all was well after I did receive the refund and they made the corrections. April 22, 2013 - Updated Review (other updates removed) On appx April 3rd, when a Sales Manager of the company came with the service manager to see for themselves what I had been complaining about since mid December, the Sales Manager looked for 10 seconds and immediately wrote us a reimbursement check for the extra $200.00 we had been charged in error on the day of installation. The crew arrived at 1:55 PM (Office had called on Saturday (NOT FRIDAY AS PROMISED) indicating crew would arrive between 12 noon and 2:00 pm. This time I was happy. All but one of the remaining issues were corrected today. The correct post was replaced this time. All of the large stones and old cement dug up by the installation crew making post holes were removed. The old post holes were filled. They even raked the garden to even-out the soil where they had left piles from digging post holes. The stains and marks on the fence were cleaned. They even installed, at no additional cost, a and quot;spacerand quot; type piece at the bottom of 3 sections of fence that were very high above the ground (as a result of keeping the fence level along it's length). The only thing left is the black hardware that Amendola had painted white to match the white fence and some of which had the white paint chipped off during the last repair - they are waiting for new hardware to be delivered then they will send it for white powder coating (instead of paint) and install it when they get it back from powder coating. Sooooo. The end result so far is very good. When management got involved the responsiveness was much better (I'll give them a 95 out of 100). The only thing is it's too bad it took four months to get satisfaction and a refund. This will be my final update unless the hardware doesn't come or it gets screwed up. April 2, 2013 - Initial Review. The contract quoted a price of $5,300 to remove and take away the old fence and install the new fence. Prior to completing the installation we were informed by the installation crew that the only way they could finish the job was if we immediately paid an additional $200 for an extra post and fence section that was required because, they claimed, the Amendola salesman, and quot;Cameron Templer, and quot; measured incorrectly. Due to circumstances unrelated to the installation, it was easier at that time to provide the additional check for the installation to be completed and straighten out the issue later. The problems started on the day of installation. The installation crew arrived approx. 10:30 am - although we had received a call the day prior indicating start of 9:00 to 9:30 am. Installation was supposed to take one day, but instead took two days. The installation crew seemed in no hurry until it started to get dark on day one then they picked up the pace. After having lunch delivered for themselves, the trash from lunch was left in the yard including a spilled soft drink on the cement patio. After the crew departed on day 2, The yard was littered with shards of vinyl, vinyl shavings, screws, and other construction debris that had to be cleaned up by us immediately to avoid having the dog consume them. Piles of dirt and large stones from the post holes were left in our yard, our neighbor's yards, our patio and driveway. Pieces of the old wooden fence, with nails, were left on our neighbors lawn, directly i/f/o their backyard gate. Open holes were left where some of the old fence posts had been located. Inspection of the actual fence installation revealed, One fence/gate post having a scar melted into it, at eye level (This was actually complained about on day 1, and was promised to be repaired on day 2, but was not except for an attempt to smooth over the scar). The same fence post, installed into the cement patio, had openings in the cement used to fix it in place allowing water to infiltrate below the patio. From the initial complaint we were promised the post was to be replaced and the cement, as a result, would be redone so water wouldn't get below the patio and freeze. The and quot;additionaland quot; required fence section had several and quot;off colorand quot; slats (fence is white, several slats not the same white). Many of the posts showed scratches on their edges as if they had no protection when being transported on, and when they were removed off of the truck. Thermal seams were protruding on the two gates installed. Glue stains and measurement marks are on several pieces of fence and posts. The contract shows that the fence sections should have been two 9 foots and three 8 foots on each of three 43' sides of the yard (4th side is the house (also 43 ') with a gate on each side). The extra section required to complete the job resulted in that side having 6 sections to cover the same 43 feet covered by 5 sections on the other two sides. Not wanting to overreact, mostly because of good past experience and the Amendola reputation, we made our initial complaints to the New Hyde Park office where our dealings began. These calls resulted in: Promise the damaged post and deficient cement securing it would be replaced (it wasn’t), Several promises that the salesman, Cameron Templer, would return our calls (he never did), Promises that the customer service Supervisor would call us (he never did), A promise that a $200 refund was coming, but may take two weeks because and quot;it's coming all the way from Amityvilleand quot; (it never came). After emailing the Amityville office, and including photos of the damage, scratches, marks and mess of dirt and stones and wood fence after installation, an Amendola employee showed up one day, unannounced and asked my son (who was the only one home) about the problems – of which he knew nothing of the specifics. After that visit I called Amityville and did receive the first and only return call from Mike of Customer Service who said he had come but no one was home, and indicating that he was coming on February 28th to look at the issues and at that time he would let me know about the status of the $200 refund I am due. On February 28th a Mike did not show, but he did send and quot;Marvin.and quot; Although Marvin had no knowledge of the $200 I was due, he agreed the $200 extra charge was for an error that was not our fault and the damaged post at the gate needs to be replaced and the cement repaired (the post replacement would involve new cement). I actually thought we finally had made progress because not only did Marvin also agree that the dirt, large stones, scratches, marks, protruding seams and stains should have been taken care of before the workers left, Marvin also spotted something we had missed - off-color/mismatched slats in the additional and quot;requiredand quot; section of fence. Marvin said he'd be sending guys over to replace the post, fix the cement and take care of the off color fence that was previously unnoticed. He was also going to have Mike call me about the $200, Mike never called. I placed a follow-up call to and quot;Mikeand quot; on March 2nd about the unanswered $200 question, and did reach him. Mike promised that he would call me the next day, on March 3rd, with information about the refund and said that the repairs/corrections would be performed on April 1st, with the office calling the preceding Friday to give us a time when they would be arriving. The office called and said the crew would be at our house between 3 pm and 5 pm on Monday April 1st - They never showed up on April 1st and no one called to let us know they were not coming. Calls to Amendola were fruitless because their offices close at 5:00 pm. I guess that was April fools on us? There is absolutely no excuse for any of this. Calls not returned, repeated unfulfilled promises of solutions/repairs that don’t materialize, appointments not kept, contracts not honored. Besides the $200 extra charged, I have taken off of work twice now for incomplete or no show appointments by Amendola. Will I be reimbursed for that? I think not. My $5,300 fence has now cost over $6,000. Funny thing is when they needed an additional check, it cleared my bank two days after I gave it to Amendola yet here we are, four months later with nothing corrected or resolved with the deficient fence installation and no refund. I more than held up my end of the deal, why does Amendola refuse to stand by their contracts or their work? They showed up on April 3rd to make repairs - they did replace discolored slats that were spotted late in the chain of events. They also replaced the post by the gate - BUT THEY REPLACED THE WRONG POST! The post with the and quot;scarand quot; was still there.
Description of Work: Amendola was contracted to, and did (mostly), remove an old wooden fence (which they installed 15 years ago) damaged by super-storm Sandy, and install a new vinyl fence in place of the old wooden fence.

See above which explains the whole story
Description of Work: They bait and switched me from a standard Cedar stockade fense to a AAA+ Cedar fense in part because it was guaranteed for life. When installation time came they installed a standart cedar fense and only after I realized that the fense was substandard did they agree to change out the whole fense to the correct AAA+ cedar which I had purchased. The fense deteriorated and had to be replaced this year. Amendola refused to honor my written guarantee of a Lifetime warrantee and tried to give me a discount on a new fense that was hyper inflated in cost. After I sent them written requests to comply with their written guarantee I sued them in small claims court. The judge said their guarantee was ambigioulsy worded and I won an award of 5,000.00 against them. They paid the 5,000.00 but refused to pay the court costs as ordered by the Judge. I view this company as very disreputable.

Job was great overall. Cameron was a stickler for permits, details, and the exact measurements. We got an average/competitive quote, but the knowledge Cameron demonstrated gave us the most comfort. The job was done on time and in 2 stages given the 1st day had a little rain. The process was relatively quick and painless. Would definitely think of them again for any fencing job.
Description of Work: Had a fence installed by Amendola's Hillside office. Cameron was great and knew the exact requirements regarding permits, prepping for inspections, and the little details some of the other places we received quotes from didn't know (the details were very important to us). The fence is beautiful and now keeps our 2 kids in the yard safely. The price was average (but feels like a solid sturdy high quality fence), the fence looks great, and the work was an "A". I would not hesitate to recommend Cameron, Ed, and the rest of the hillside office team. In the end, if you care about the little picky details, these guys can help you get the job done.

Hand Rail was installed improperly. Took several calls before a representative finally called me back. Still not completely satisfied with the re-installation. Also it stained my concrete which they used some type of cleaner which worked but a few days later it was stained again. I am very happy with them. They have done many jobs for me. I like the quality of their products. If I have a problem with their product, they will replace it. I had a problem with the gate that they installed on my fence in my backyard and they came out and replaced the gate. The gate was like a $500 gate. They looked at it and inspected it and said that it was a manufacturer defect. They replaced it and there were no questions asked. The workers were excellent. I would definitely recommend them. I find them to be very good. The price was fairly reasonable and they do the work very well. They aren't the highest or the lowest in price. After this very bad storm part of the fence fell down half way, but that was the first time I’ve needed them in 30 years. They also do my windows and a lot of things for me. They come out right away; they are usually here on the same day that I call them. I think the people that work with them are very good.

I spent $3500 for the initial job. They came out again and repaired it immediately at no charge. I thought that was above and beyond. They came when they said they were going to. Their estimate was what I paid. They were neat, prompt, courteous and done. Their sales person was courteous and he gave me an accurate estimate. He gave me a date and they did the work. I said goodbye and that was it. They were in, they were out and I was happy. Their price was good. They were good and I would recommend them.
