This company had been mowing my lawn for the entire 2010 and 2011 summers at a rate of $35.00 + tax per mow. I called and left several messages on their answering machine and with a woman in the spring of this year (2012) stating that I was leaving for a 2 week vacation, so the lawn needed to be mowed and I would like them to do it all summer again. I did not receive a response. I went through the same process with them in the previous year, leaving messages and getting no response before I left for vacation at the exact same time of year. But, last year when I returned from vacation they had mowed the lawn, therefore, I thought the same thing would have happened this year. However, when I returned from vacation this spring the grass was tall and they had not mowed the lawn. I immediately called the company and finally spoke to the owner, Dennis Peterson, who told me that they would not be mowing my lawn that summer because they were too busy. I told him that they should have called me back to let me know they wouldn't be mowing it and asked if they could at least come mow it once to get it down for me so I could make other arrangements. He agreed to come that afternoon, May 18th, which he did and mowed it but he did not weed-whack like they usually do. Two months later I received a bill for $97.20 from them that stated it was for mowing done over Memorial Day Weekend. First of all, the mowing was done on May 18th, the day after I returned from vacation, NOT OVER MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. Second of all, he did not even weed-whack and he was charging me almost three times as much as he did in the two previous summers without advance notice. So, I sent them a check for $27.00 ($35.00 minus weed-whacking) along with a courteous letter explaining why $97.20 was an excessive amount to charge me for mowing one time. A few days later I was awakened early in the morning by Dennis Peterson angrily pounding on my front door. When I opened the door he began yelling at me using profanity saying that he was going to put a lien on my house if I didn't pay the $97. He then left the check for $27.00 with the letter I sent on my front porch and sped off squealing his tires.Later that day I called him and tried to reason with him, asking if we could meet half way, but he said that he would rather take me to court. So, although it is totally against my principles to placate a bully, I decided that rather than waste another minute of my life dealing with this unscrupulous character, I just sent him the $97.20.
Description of Work: Mowed and weed-whacked my lawn (~3/4 acre) for the entire summers of 2010 & 2011. Also, mowed one time on May 18, 2012.
