"We recently hired Kascon LLC to remove asbestos from our home. The popcorn ceilings and all drywall needed to be removed per test results from an independent lab. We found the Kascon estimator, Keith Carroll, to be friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He came to our home, took measurements, explained the process, and answered all our questions. He then provided us a competitive estimate in a timely manner. Bill, the foreman, and his crew were respectful, accommodating, and thorough. They left our home clean and asbestos-free. Hi my name is Larado, and I'm the owner of OxiBlast Carpet Cleaning & Restoration. I've had the privilege of helping over thousands of your friends and neighbors get the most sparkling carpets and rugs they've ever seen, since 1999. In fact, many tell me they love taking their shoes off and rubbing their toes in the soft, fluffy carpet after they get the most thorough cleaning ever (which we guarantee to give you...or our service is free)! They told me they wanted more. . .and I'm giving it to them. Many of my new clients have told me they were sick of the "cheap, soggy carpet cleaning" their carpets were getting from other cleaning companies. I am constantly seeing and hearing the results of these un-educated cleaners. Don't be a victim of these un-ethical cleaners ! They use harsh, cheap, and even dangerous cleaning agents (leaving toxic amounts of chemical residue in your home.) Some of these residues are not even safe for your pets much less your children. The chemicals that these un-educated cleaners use are so harsh that they strip the life from the carpet fibers adding years to the wear age. Plus these cleaners don't even pull out all the embedded soil debris that ends up at the lower part of your fibers which will cause your carpet to wear faster. This means you're going to need to replace your carpets sooner (big bucks!)...and that your home won't be as healthy. These types of cleaners are untrained, unethical, and downright unscrupulous cleaners. So not only will you pay more in the long run by going with "cheap cleaners" ... you won't be enjoying all the benefits of a great looking carpet.

Indoor Air Technologies, Inc. (IAT), formed in June 1994, was one of the pioneers in the Mechanical Cleaning of HVAC Systems. A locally owned, New York State Certified Woman Business Enterprise based in Victor, New York, IAT is a leader in Mechanical Cleaning of HVAC Systems projects Nation Wide. IAT maintains impeccable references as well as membership in the Better Business Bureau, Better Contractors Bureau and the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA). Awareness of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) issues have increased substantially in recent years due to increased media attention and lawsuits as well as government and private research. High costs are associated with poor IAQ, including lost worker productivity, absenteeism, higher health care expenses, shorter equipment life and court settlement awards. IAT has worked closely with leading Engineering and Architectural Companies, Industrial Hygienists, HVAC/ Mechanical Contractors, Plant Maintenance and Fire Restoration Companies. IAT maintains an outstanding reputation and is confident we can service your needs. A building's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system provides conditioned air to occupied spaces within the facility. Typically, air from within an occupied space, along with fresh air drawn from outdoors, in drawn in through ductwork to an HVAC unit, where it is conditioned. Before the air gets to the unit, it usually passes through a filter designed to protect the mechanical equipment from becoming contaminated by large particles of dust and debris. Many filters commonly used today will not prevent the introduction of small particles of dust and debris from the air stream into the system. Over time, these deposits may form sizable accumulations. In the course of normal building operations, the humidity level within the HVAC system can vary greatly. High humidity can combine with dust and debris in the system, often resulting in the growth of microbial contamination. In an HVAC system, microbial contamination (such as mold, fungus and their spores) may cause adverse health reactions among building occupants. Condense drain pans and other system components often become heavily contaminated with fungal and bacterial slime. In order to maintain acceptable indoor air quality (IAQ) it is commonly recommended that mold, fungi, dust and other contaminants are cleaned out of the HVAC system. Cleaning HVAC systems provides many benefits. Cleaning lessens the likelihood of indoor air pollution in the building, and may help to alleviate health and comfort complaints by occupants. Clean HVAC systems perform more efficiently, which may decrease energy costs. Well maintained mechanical components are likely to last longer, reducing the need for costly HVAC system replacement or repairs. With growing awareness of the dangers of indoor air pollution, public concern for the cleanliness of ventilation systems has led to significant increase in demand for HVAC system cleaning services. Solving complex IAQ problems, however, often requires a team of multi-disciplined professionals, such as mechanical contractors, filtration experts, test and balance specialists, industrial hygienists, and, of course, professional HVAC system cleaning contractors.

Mold testing and remediation services FAQs

Some states require mold removal specialists to be licensed, while others require licensed mold testing companies to create remediation protocols that any contractor can carry out. You can use our state licensing tool to find requirements in your area. In either case, it’s imperative that you hire an experienced professional for mold removal to ensure the safety of your home and your family.

It’s possible to scrub mold off of visible surfaces yourself, but it’s not usually a good idea. Mold is not only a potential health risk, but it’s also difficult to treat in its entirety, especially because it can grow behind walls and in other hidden areas a DIYer might miss. Since mold is a serious and often pervasive issue, you should hire a professional that will remove all of the mold—including any that might be hidden—run industrial air scrubbers to remove airborne particles, and complete mold testing to ensure the underlying problem is solved.

The most effective way to remove mold includes testing affected surfaces and the air for spores, creating a protocol for removal, carrying out the steps within the protocol, running air scrubbers for the recommended amount of time, and then completing a post-remediation round of testing to confirm the issue is solved. Since this work is very involved and there are health risks if done incorrectly, you should always hire an experienced professional to handle mold removal.

The average cost for mold remediation is around $2,200, and most projects fall somewhere between $1,100 and $3,300. Your total will depend on many factors, including the surface area that is affected by mold, the extent of the issue, how much building material your professional needs to replace, whether or not testing is necessary for safety reasons, and existing indoor air quality.

Mold removal will take between one and five days in most cases, but severe mold issues can take several weeks to correct. Your timeline will depend on how much mold there is in your home, where the mold is located, and how much testing and aftercare is required. If you have mold behind your walls or you have an excessive amount of mold that requires removal and running air scrubbers for several days, you could be looking at over a week for the process to be completed.
