Response from Zerodraft
Dear Ms. [Member], Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your experience with Zerodraft which helps us work toward continuous improvement. In this instance we must have two separate appointments because furnace service is performed by our HVAC service staff and home energy audits/assessments are conducted by our BPI Certified building analysts. Whenever possible, as our customer and our service schedules allow, we try to perform both appointments on the same day for promotions such as the one you purchased. A typical professional furnace clean & tune should take 45 minutes which is exactly the time you estimated. The service includes the following actions: *clean and vacuum unit *carbon monoxide testing *check draft pressure *inspect electrical connections and wires *measure and record voltages *verify efficiency *measure and record amperage draw to motor *inspect fan belt tension *clean and lubricate blower assembly *inspect heat exchanger *inspect burner blower wheel *test main burner ignition *check/clean burner assembly *test inducer fan motor and blower assembly *inspect vent systems *calibrate thermostat and controls *check combustion air *test furnace safety controls *clean condensate drains *adjust pilot *monitor heating cycle *filter change. These are the steps Zerodraft follows for such a service which should average about 45 minutes to complete. We cannot say what steps any other providers follow nor the length of time they take to complete. Regarding your concerns over the incomplete energy assessment, it must be stressed that we adhere closely to standards of the Building Performance Institute or BPI which puts safety at the top of our list- both your safety and that of our employees.. Indeed it is paramount in our considerations. Below is a link to the BPI standard that is relevant in this instance which mandates that Brett not proceed with the blower door test which could have certainly put you and him at risk in the presence of loose or friable asbestos. I invite you to visit this link online or simply google BPI asbestos and read the content of BPIs rules about this. You may copy and paste this link into your browser to visit the page referenced: [Removed Hyperlink] We must first make sure that our actions "do no harm" and with asbestos loose in the manner you describe, the consequences of depressurizing your home with a big blower door test may have done just that, caused harm to you. We strive to deliver the best customer experiences each and every day and hope that you will reconsider Zerodraft in light of this information. Thank you again.
