I made an appointment for 1:30 on 5/3 for them to clean my house via a Living Social coupon. The first appointment they missed. I called a hour after the appointment time and was told there was no appointment on the schedule and that they would call right back. An hour later I called again. This time I spoke to Lee, the person who set up the appointment. He remembered setting it up, didn't know what happened. So we set up a second appointment and they were to arrive between 12-12:30pm 5/10. An hour after the scheduled appointment time on 5/10, I called to see where they were. I was told they showed the appointment was for 10:30am and they came here but nobody was home. Aargh! I am done with this unprofessional and unreliable company!

United Building Maintenance arrived a few hours late and did a lousy job overall. I was present for the afternoon they were at the house. Right from the start I noticed they were not changing their dirty water in the buckets as the water got really dirty. So I asked them if they would do that. They did not take the iniitiatvie to change the dirty water as the water got extrememly dirty through out the afternoon. I had to asking them to change the dirty water all afternoon. They brought a truck with water in it to do the job. However, they said they ran out of water at one point. I offered for them to fill their truck with water from our well to keep the process going. I still continued to notice all afternoon that they were not changing the water as it got really dirty until I asked them to do so. The workman pointed out the first wood floor as he finish it and said "how does it look?". I said "I don't see any difference". They did not do a thorough job. After United Building Maintenance staff left I went back with my swiffer wet mopped and was horrified to see the dirt we were removing from that first hard wood floor he did.. We went through litterally dozens of swiffer wet mop pads on each floor we hired them to clean before we reached the shine of the hardwood finish. We hired them to clean and seal the grout in 2 tiled bathrooms. They cleaned just enough grout so we could see the original color in a few spots. However, they left the rest of the grout dirty and then SEALED in the DIRT! It looks horrible. I contacted the company and talked to the owner (Helen). She was very disrespectful and unprofessional. She told us to take photos and send them to her. I did send the photos to the owner and the representives. Then I made several calls to the company before hearing from their representive (Kathy Wright) that they had the photos and were going to have a meeting regarding this issue. . My request was that they come back and do the bathrooms and restore the grout to the original color that we could see in a couple places and then seal the gout or return our money for all the work they did not do that day. I again contacted the company and spoke with the owner (Helen). She again was very abusive, hostile and unprofessional. She said they were not going to do anything to rectify this situtation. I would not reccomend this company. United Building Maintenance "Cut's Corner's" They DON'T Clean Them!
Description of Work: We hired "United Building Maintenance" to do deep cleaning and restorative cleaning on our hardwood floors, tile floors and stone floors in our 2500 sq. ft. Ranch home.The floors had not been properly cleaned in several years. Hence the $1000.oo price we agreed to pay for this thorough deep cleaning.

We acknowledge that we were late arriving at the customer’s home, and did call her to let her know we were running late. We squeezed her cleaning onto our calendar in order to accommodate her Thanksgiving plans, and told her we may be running late due to another job that was already on our calendar, which she was fine. We performed the following work: Tile & grout floor scrub & seal (241 sq. feet) Tile & grout floor scrub (206 sq. feet) Linoleum floor scrub (42 sq. feet) Hardwood floor scrub (1,100 sq. feet) We did not seal one area of the home- the patio off the kitchen, because the customer did not want to pay for that service, however we did seal the kitchen and bathrooms. I spoke with the customer the day after the services were performed and she expressed concern over the hardwood floors but said the tile and grout floors were satisfactory. She stated that there was a supervisor on-site for that part of the cleaning and they did a great job while he was there, but once he left she felt they did not keep up the level of work for the hardwood floors. She said that she and her fiancée used a Swiffer wet mop to clean the floors after we left. She requested that we refund her $100, which we did. She also asked why a Living Social promotion we had been running at the time didn’t apply. The Living Social promotion was a 2 hour house cleaning for $65 or a 3 hour house cleaning for $95. I told her that it did not apply to floor scrubbing or floor cleaning services (which is stated in the fine print), and she insisted that we were “ripping her off” by not allowing her to use that deal, which had already expired by the time she contacted us. I explained that we gave her our best prices and even provided a 20% discount because she is a realtor. On December 3, 2011 (2 weeks after the date of service) she sent photos of the bathroom floor showing that the grout was discolored. We looked at the photos and it appears that the discolorations is caused by Efflorescence, a white crystalline or powdery deposit on grout lines, stone or porous tile. This is caused by water flowing through the grout or subfloor that dissolves salts and minerals including calcium. The water then evaporates leaving a mineral deposit on the surface, which is similar to the process that allows stains to wick to the surface after carpet following cleaning. I did explain this to the customer. Because the customer said that she re-cleaned what we had done with a Swiffer wet jet and other chemicals, we cannot confirm that it was our work that caused the grout discoloration. She requested that we return to re-do the work on the floors in the bathroom and the hardwood floors, however we do not feel that doing so will satisfy her or make the situation better. We refunded the $100 she requested and spoke with her on the phone several times but were not able to satisfy her. She stated several times that she does not believe our technicians are capable of the work or know what they are doing. Returning to do the work in that environment does not seem to be a good solution.

The carpet cleaners arrived on time with a van and ran a steam cleaning hose in to the house. Before cleaning they pre-spotted all of the stains. They moved room to room moving the furniture when they needed to clean underneath it. After the cleaning was finished they sprayed a carpet stain protectant on to help prevent future staining. The two gentleman carpet cleaning did an excellent job and I will call United back when this work needs to be done again.
Description of Work: They cleaned the carpeting through out the entire house up and down stairs.
