Star did a fabulous job...everyone was professional, yet friendly & a pleasure to deal with, from start to finish. The roof looks fabulous....they were on time and cleaned up perfectly. I would definately recommend them.

The company sent the field representative out to view the site and discuss what we wanted done. They surveyed the roof and did measurements. They said we would be contacted by the company shortly as far as the costs and written job order. We approved them and secured the loan in June but due to incredible heat waves/monsoon weather, the company is very backed up on job start times & completions. When contacted at the end of July, their estimate of the start time was the end of August/early September. So far no complaints.

They did a quick and good job. Came out with a full crew (maybe 10 guys?) and made quick work of a big job. Would hire again.

The company representative was very professional. We discussed a number of related items, he took measurements and promised an estimate today (5/28). The delay is due to Memorial Day weekend.

First of all, my elderly mother, who previously owned the home, deferred a lot of maintenance on the home. There is so much to be done, but the roof was first. In the spring of 2012, Star sent out a top-notch salesperson by the name of Joe Duffy. He wasn't just a salesman, but knew what he was talking about. A delightful and knowledgeable gentleman, we chatted for a bit and then he went about getting measurements and the like for an estimate. We received a comprehensive estimate a few days later. Once we found out my mother was terminally ill and staying in the home as long as possible, we figured she wasn't up to the noise and the activity that came with a major project. That, and we had nurses and nursing assistants coming in and out during the day, and it would probably be strategically difficult to manage all that while doing major construction at the same time. So we made a small deposit and put off the work until this year (2013). The first group - the "High Fliers" as they called themselves - arrived approximately 7:15-ish (slightly earlier), and they were eager and ready to go. They got right to work. Led by Eric, they would be working the high, steeply-pitched roofs, of which there are several. They had their work cut out for them, removing that old tin/terne roofing, installing new decking and all the other stuff, then finally applying the pretty roofing shingles. My neighbors were impressed with how hard they worked and how much they accomplished. "I can't believe how much they accomplished, and it looks great" was a frequent observation. Of course, with all the work they had to do - the stuff you don't see and wouldn't notice - there was a lot of work that went on before they got to the final result. What a great group of people! They worked like crazy, appeared to be part mountain goat with the way they masterfully tackled heights and pitches, yet they were extremely personable and accommodating. Eric provided frequent updates and informed us whenever there might be an issue. We're realists - it's an old house with heaven-only-knows-what going on underneath it all - and you just know that things will come up. You hope for the best but plan for the worst. We anticipated and budgeted for additional costs. Once the high fliers were done, the two gentlemen who did the flat areas came in. Another competent, hardworking, and personable group. In some ways, their job was harder, as the weather was hotter and it rained almost every afternoon, which meant that they had to hustle when weather moved in, and protect any unfinished parts as the thunderstorm was minutes away. Plus they had to scrape off layers of old roofing material and deal with old homemade "fixes" that were done to the roofs over the decades (century?). The roofers' manager, Don, was also great to work with. He kept us informed all the way through the project, but his people were so good and communicative that we already knew what was up when he called. Anyway, these folks have respectful communication down to a science. I know that Placido visited the site, but I never got a chance to say "howdy", unfortunately. They cleaned up the work site so well that I was just left to say "Wow" when they were done. It was super clean - better than when they arrived. No ornamental plants were harmed or otherwise disrupted despite all the old material that came off and all the new material that was put on. Professional and classy from start to finish. The folks at Star let us know ahead of time what could come up when dealing with these old roofs. Some things needed to be addressed; other potential problems didn't materialize. They also let us know what alternatives were available. We did have to adapt and ended up spending a bit more to make the roof more serviceable and durable and to fix deficiencies, but it was worth it for a job well done. I heartily recommend Star Roofing. Just received the invoice today (Friday) and there are no surprises. Thank you, Star Roofing!

My 19-year old existing roof had never leaked, but I opted to have it replaced as a preventative care measure. I have a small colonial style home with two solar panels on the back roof. The owner of Star Roofing assured me that he was totally capable of sealing around the pipes and he charged me an additional fee to do so. Shortly after he installed my new roof, it began leaking profusely into my son's bedroom, down through the ceiling and electrical fixtures. I called the owner of Star Roofing and he applied additional roof sealer. The new roof continued to leak , damaging my ceiling, running through the light fixtures, and down onto my rugs. After the second attempt to repair the leaks, the owner became very angry and said shouted that it was my fault and that I shouldn't even have the solar panels (even though he had agreed at the time of the estimate that he was capable of sealing around any pipes that protruded from the roof.) The rest of the year was a nightmare, as the roof continued to leak, and the owner of Star Roofing was unwilling to correct the problems. He eventually responded to a letter from the Attorney General's Office to repair the roof. I paid the cost to repair the damage to the ceilings inside my home. The roof installation was inferior, and the owner of Star roofing was unprofessional.

The team worked efficiently and the cleanup was impeccable. We would readily recommend them.

They were very pricey. They wanted to charge just for an estimate to repair the roof. Instead, I had them submit a free estimate to replace the roof , fix the chimney and install gutters. It was about 50% more expensive than the company I went with.

Went well. The work was completed over 2 days. They cleaned up very nicely. Everything was very professional. Roof looks great, no problems.We discussed the possibley of reinstalling a diverter if the roof was not draining properly into the gutters. They offered to comeback and reinstall it with no charge if it is needed. So far roof seems to be OK, so I haven't taken them up on that offer.

They were okay and the price was okay, too.

This company advertises heavily on the radio as a premier company in the area. I called them to get a quote to replace "philly" gutters with modern gutters. (The "phily" gutters were already removed when I had my roof replaced by another company last autumn.) They responded within a day of my call and had someone at my house within a week for an estimate. They called me about 5 days after the estimare to decline the job. The reason given was because the new gutters would have to drain into the only downspout, and into the ground, on the back side of the house which is just about on the property line between me and my neighboor, and they did not want to "deal" with this. The two houses, which was about 100 years old, built at the same time, share a wall and the "phily" gutters from both sides always drained into the same downspout. I was very diapointed in them declining the job as the estimator gave no indication that there would be any problem with doing the work when he was at the house. He even described how he explected the work to be done.

The staff was very nice and very courteous. They listened to me. Of all the roofers I spoke to they were the most polite. They also included warranties with the product. They were very good to work with. Aesthetically, I think they did a nice job. However, I thought that they had replaced a piece of plywood that was black from water damage but they had not, and I can still see it in my garage. If they thought the plywood was solid enough not to be replaced, that is fine, I was just surprised being conscious of mold. Also, when they put pipes through, they did square cuts instead of round ones.

Of all of the roofing companies I have contacted, Star was the only one that said they could service our Spanish Tile Roof. Their service men we knowledgeable and did a good job on the needed repair. Unfortunately, because what I needed was technically a "repair" I was put on a "first come first served" list and could not be given a specific date for the service. Lucky for me, the snow held off and the repair could be completed before there was another incident but this process was stressful for my family and I. Also, when I received the bill, it was higher than I expected. The billed hours were higher than they should have been (I was present for the whole duration of the job). Upon calling the office, the time was verified with the GPS in the service van and my bill was adjusted to the time I expected. I was also given a $50 credit for my trouble. I would use them again and would tentatively recommend them to others.

I thought they were very good. They were very responsive. I called several people and they were the only one that called me back and set up an appointment.

They were very responsive. The homeowner's association required me to submit a proof of insurance before they would approve the work. I called Star to request it; they had it to me the next day. Any issues I saw, they took care of promptly. The roof has been fine, no leaks. One thing was, I found a lot of nails on my driveway and in the yard for a while after. I could have gone with a cheaper company, but I feel that paying extra for a good job done by responsive people was worth it. One more thing: when I got the bill, it was the estimate price plus $60 for the town permit fee. My neighbor works for our town and later commented to me that he had approved that application. I asked him how much the town charges. Answer: $60. So Star did not pad that.

Because I was deliberating on the color to choose, I experienced a short attitude from the person who was handling that part of the service. After I was told that I would need to go to their shop to pick up additional color samples, that he did not have the time to drop off different samples because he had already dropped off ONE sample, unless I wanted to pay for that service. I found his attitude and reasoning to be ridiculous. He told me that decision was made by his boss; maybe it was. In dealing with this same person, I stipulated the importance of scheduling this 2 day job for a Mon/Tues installation. I was told there would certainly not be a problem. When the scheduling finally took place, it presented a seemingly annoying problem. In the end the roof was installed starting with a Mon/Tues install date. The STAR ROOFING crew was absolutely professional. They were here to do the job. I did have to call them back to take care of some unacceptable details, but all in all I would say it was a job well done. I suggest you check for nails before driving out of your driveway between the install days!

I had worked with them before. I would use their services again in the future.

They did a terrible job. The roof has dips and waves in it. During the first evaluation, the man who gave me the estimate said it would take about 10 sheets of plywood on the roof. They only used about 4 when it was finished. The person who came from my insurance company to check the roof, said the roof was done poorly. I would like them to come back and install the roof properly.

Overall, the experience was good. They showed up when they said they were going to and they pretty much took care of everything. We continue to find a nail here and there but it is a huge roof so I can see how it would be difficult to find them all. It looks good and it isn’t leaking! I thought the price was very good.

The snow and ice was piling up on the roof and the gutters were full to the point I was concerned about the weight load so I went looking for snow removal services. I called Star and got one of the owners who fit me in by scheduling an appointment for 8AM the next day (Sunday). He also gave me the name of the Star representative who would be leading the team doing the job and his (the owner's) cell number 'just in case'. The team arrived exactly on time and did a terrific job.

I think the final product was fine and they did a good job, but dealing with them was difficult. They do a quality roof but they don?t have customer service skills and they don?t call back on time. It took about four or five months just to schedule the work and they were rude. Their price was about average; they didn't have the best or the worst price.

They were very prompt, they sent two crews (12 people) to get it done in one day. I would use them again and recommend them.

All the workers arrived on time, got right to work, were all at the house seven hours, and cleaned up everything! Not one nail left in the driveway. Very neat and professional!
