Peace of Mind is as professional as it gets. The installer arrived with a full complement of tools and know-how, and our project was soon completed. Daniel, owner/operator, is a pleasure to work with, and specifically wanted to make sure we were happy with all aspects of the installation before he left. He truly gave us peace of mind on this project.

Dan did an excellent job. He came by Thursday, May 22, 2014, to look at my site and give me an estimate. He suggested putting in another electrical box for expansion and safety. He came back on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, and the job was done before I returned home from work. Everything was cleaned up and exactly done the way we discussed. I will call on him again.
Description of Work: Installed new electric line with a new electric box for my hot tub. All is separate from my house electric.

I chose Peace of Mind Electrical because they were willing to come out and do the work on a timely basis. It was not a good experience. They were nice and I felt very positive about them when I hired them. It took longer than they expected to do the work. They were here until about nine o'clock at night. Two things happened: They charged me a lot more than the original estimate; that was one thing. And because it was so late at night I just paid them. It was like, "Go home!" Trying to get out and finish the work and I realize it took them longer than anticipated but it was getting annoying. And a couple of things that were on the original estimate didn't get completed. But, one of the worst things that happened is, he put in the thermostat and it didn't work so he left me without heat. He did not know that when he left. What turned out was, two out of the three thermostats were not working and he came back the next day or whatever it was. And then what happened was I sent him an e-mail because once again, one of them still wasn't working and I never heard back. So, what happened is, he left me without heat and I had to call in another electrician and he was supposed to put in an outlet that he didn't complete. And I never heard back from him until apparently a competitor to Angie's List called him and told him about the circumstance. He decided that he was going to call me and be very friendly because he now wanted me to turn the rating around, I guess is what it was. It was as though, "Oh, didn't you want me to come back and do some work for you?" And, "What can I help you with?" That was the message he left on the machine. And that was about the end of it. Again, what happened was, I was pretty angry when I sent him an e-mail and said, "This is still not working. The heat is still not working and I'm without heat." Fortunately I had a wood-burning stove. It was a very cold day and that's how I remember, it was winter. And I never heard from him again until he got a followup call from one of your competitors saying I was unhappy, which he knew. Then he was like trying to follow up with it. One of the things that made me most angry was what I considered to be an overcharge. When he gave me the estimate of $900, he made phone calls, he got all the information pertaining to how much things would cost, how much the thermostats were. It wasn't as though he said, "Oh, I'll have to follow up on this." He sat in my dining room, called suppliers and got that information and low and behold when he presented me the bill he talked about the fact that he had to bring another person along and that he was only charging me a minimal amount for that person. But, the bill came in $500 higher than the original estimate. And that was without heat and it cost me about another hundred dollars, who was very nice about it, come in and fix the heat situation. Initially, I felt very positive about him. He seemed very personable. I kind of want those things to be known, too. He seemed to want to do a good job. I think the day took too long; he was whipped by the end of the day. I think the job was a lot bigger than he anticipated. So, a lot of things went wrong and the biggest thing was that he left me without heat and I was kind of annoyed about that. I have a woodburning stove so I didn't freeze but it happened to be a very particular cold couple of nights. Fortunately, I was able to find an electrician who came the very next day because I was without heat. It was just a service call and he was able to reconnect the thermostats in a way that worked. He was supposed to put two outlets in for me, he only put one. He forgot about the other one. And then, never came back because it became a bad experience and I didn't even want him to come back. Just things went wrong. And I hate to beat him up completely because it doesn't mean he didn't do a good job with some other people. The job he was specifically hired to do which was put in a four-prong outlet for a new stove, he did do that and it was a big job and I think it was bigger than he anticipated. I hate to beat him up but on the other hand, it was not a good experience and I would not use him again. I felt like the bill he presented me with at the end of the day, it was so late and he was trying to explain to me that he had to bring another man with him and he was only charging me $15 an hour, well that was not discussed. The initial discussion was $900 for the job and that was for the complete job and it would include all the parts and labor and everything. By the time he left I just gave him everything. The original estimate that he left me with, as far as I'm concerned, he had done all the phone calls, he had gotten all the prices for the thermostats and all the wiring and all the materials he needed, he knew exactly how much all that would come to. And he estimated based on how many hours he was going to be there. And then he brought this other person which was not on the estimate and didn't include that. But I thought, "That's his problem. He gave me an estimate and grand total and here's what it was." So, it came to a lot more money. And again, it was late. He was running out the door, "Give me my check!" He didn't say in those words. He left thinking we were on good terms. He left thinking he had done a good job and that he worked late to try and finish it up and please me. It wasn't as though he was aware at that time. There were certain things that happened, and things happen, it wasn't until the next day or that night that I realized the thermostat wasn't working because during the day it wasn't that cold or I didn't turn it on, I had the wood burning stove going. It wasn't until I tried to get the heat going that I realized it wasn't working in both the dining room and the living room. I had no heat in either one of those two rooms. Let me say again, he did not know there was a problem when he left. He though he was leaving on good terms. He had finished the job, thought he had done what he was supposed to do. I just want that clear. He came when he was supposed to. Actually, he was late. That was one of the reasons that it ran so late. I don't remember specifically, he came probably at least an hour later than expected. He may have called me, I don't remember. But I know he started the job later than he expected and that's one of the reasons it ran so late. He really did try to do a good job. It started off like, I thought, "Oh, this is going to be a great thing. He's going to be a good contact and I'm going to be please with this." I thought it was very interesting when he heard from your competitor and all the negative stuff I had said, he immediately tried to contact me to try to fix things. He pretended he didn't know that I had done that. He pretended he was following up to see if I needed anything. But it happened to be a week after I had talked to your competitor. He sent me an e-mail as well, it was quite obvious in the wording of the e-mail that they had spoken with him and wanted him to try and fix the way it was left. Rather than him calling me and saying, "Is everything okay?" That kind of thing. I felt like he didn't' follow up when he should have. There are some issues with the way he performs his job.
Description of Work: Peace of Mind Electrical dug a new line for a stove, replaced a thermostat and did some other minimal stuff.
