What a terribly disappointing message to receive on Christmas morning. I am very sorry to hear that you did not see the value in the work performed for you on November 5th. I also understand your concern about pricing and expect that you would like a better explanation of these charges. This particular installation was not the standard installation for this type of work. We were working with an obsolete panel box, and needed to supply equipment for that panel box to allow for this installation. Please take a moment to google “Federal Pacific Electric” and you will see why this equipment is a safety concern and why the breakers come at a significant cost. Please remember we must work within the parameters of the building structure and the equipment originally installed. I would like to just confirm that you were given an up-front quote for this work, and that you had the option to accept or decline this work with no concern of being charged for the quote. We received a signature before beginning this work, and the price quoted never changed as the job progressed. We had two trained electricians on this job, so we were able to complete this job in the most efficient way possible; this is typically seen as a benefit to our customers as they are not stuck around the house all day while their work is completed. I am happy to hear that the installation went well and that you are not having any trouble with this work. I want you to know that we are not a large company, and we take these complaints very seriously, so please feel free to contact me offline to discuss this matter further. I would greatly appreciate your time to see where you felt this service call failed to meet your expectations. The job was done in a timely and professional manner at a reasonable cost. They used a Ditch Witch to dig a trench from the house to the garage, laid pvc conduit to carry the electricity to the garage, and back-filled probably within the first hour or so. The rest of the job went just as smoothly - there were no unexpected problems and they seemed very knowledgeable concerning electric code requirements, installing new plugs and switches in plaster lath walls, and making room in the breaker box for new circuits. They did a quality job and cleaned up behind themselves very well. I would definitely hire them again for any future electrical work.
Description of Work: We had an electric line run underground to our garage with new plugs and a switch for ceiling lights, new outside lights put on the driveway side of our house, and a new plug put in for our window air conditioner.

They are not cheap, but if you want honesty and you can afford them then they are respectful, they come in your house and do the job. They are one of the best people I had in the house. Sometimes you get what you pay for. They did a good job and I don't really have any complaints. They were right on time and covered their feet up when they came in the house. If you have something you want done, you have to have it done and you want it done right then I would call them.
Description of Work: Mel Carr Electric Crop finished up a job that another electrician didn't finish. They installed a light over the garage where a mounting plate already was, they mounted another light in the front, did a couple of outlets outside and did a back light, too.

I called and told him about the problem and to set up an appointment. He asked questions and told me to do a couple of things and then call him back. I did call him back but only to thank him because I no longer needed him to come fix anything. He was honest and a pleasure. I would definitely call him again.

The Mel Carr representative was professional, courteous, and appeared knowledgeable in the tasks he performed - particularly important in the "in the wall" work he needed to perform for the outlets and the large screen TV wiring.
Description of Work: The Mel Carr representative, Dave, performed approximately 5-6 hours of work over a 2 day period. The work included trouble shooting any electrical issues that he might find; and, primarily, thereafter installing two wall outlets, and in-wall wiring for a large screen TV to be mounted over the fireplace. Also repaired was a inoperable light fixture in an upstairs bedroom closet and a downstairs light switch.

The person who came was punctual, professional, and respectful. He looked over my list and looked at each part of the job (that is, where what would go). He then went to the truck and totaled up the cost, came in, sat down and discussed his prices with me. I was genuinely stunned at what he wanted to charge me! I said there was not a chance that I would pay those prices, at which time he offered me a "Service Partner Agreement Plan" to save thirteen percent. I asked why thirteen percent, why not ten or twenty-five or even twelve and a half! His answer to everything was that he's doing what the book says: prices and thirteen percent service contract. I said the book could say what it wanted, that other companies have other books, and that I'd go with someone else. I said good-bye. He charged me a $50 dispatch fee and left.
Description of Work: Remove one ceiling fan and put in a new one, remove two ceiling lights and put in ceiling fans, and move one of the ceiling lights to another room and replace the light there. Additionally, install two pendant lights (new) that were not in cathedral ceilings but low and near outlets, replace a heat/fan/light bath fixture with a new one, move an outlet eight inches above the old position, remove a porch light and install another, and repair an outlet that was not working.

WE DO HAVE ONE SPECIFIC ELECTRICIAN THAT COMES TO OUR HOUSE. HE TENDS TO BE A LITTLE CHATTY AND DOESN'T MAKE EFFICIENT USE OF HIS TIME BUT I DON'T PAY HIM BY THE HOUR. HIS WORK IS EXCELLENT, SO I DON'T REALLY CARE IF HE TALKS A LOT. HIS WORK IS OUTSTANDING AND IT ISN'T LIKE HE IS ANNOYING, HE COULD JUST GO FASTER IF HE WAS LESS SOCIAL.
