Discount Flooring

We had vinyl flooring placed in our kitchen over an existing floor. The installer applied a cement of some kind to fill in the spaces on the existing floor. Within a few weeks the spacing was showing through to the new vinyl floor. It looks terrible. They sent over two flooring associates. First came David. He looked at it and agreed the floor did not look right. Tyler, the manager, told us it will be taken care of to our satisfaction, and that we would only pay for an upgrade in materials. A few days later, the installer, Carmen, came over. He looked at it and agreed something was not right. He went back to the store and again reported his findings to the manager, Tyler. When we called Tyler later that same day, Tyler said he had spoken to the “boss”. According to the boss, Barry Blenis, who claims customer satisfaction is the reason for Albany Discount Flooring’s success, an insurance adjuster would have to look at the floor. The reason? According to the boss, if they remove the vinyl floor, they would not be able to resell it. In other words, they are not going to do anything that costs them a nickel more than it has to. Money is the operating word with these people. They want payment in full at the time an order is placed and if the result is not to your satisfaction, too bad. Buyer beware. This is a terrible way to treat a customer.

Excellent. Price was right. I looked at a lot other places and they were very competitive, their prices were good, under the cost of most places. Services were good, very supportive, friendly. I had a good experience with them. The had a couple of issues on quality.

The salesman who sold me hardwood flooring was knowledgeable and did not pressure me when taking my time to pick out hardwood flooring. He was helpful and answered all questions promptly. He calculated the total amount and did not tell me I would have to pay for shipping (which they deducted from the bill after I told them I was not informed of the charge). The owner's son is the installer; he also has a general construction business and is experienced. He did not tell me the process of installing flooring and for two days I listened to the installation which was noisy using an air pressure stapler or hammer and a saw to cut pieces for installation. He did not consult me about various pieces of wood which had natural markings, and I would have liked a few placed in another part of the room. Overall, he was a hard worker, cleaned up after he was all done, and was courteous throughout the installation.

Excellent from start to finish. I was greeted as soon as I walked into the store. I explained what I needed and the purpose. I was brought to exactly what I wanted. It was the right quality and the right price. The salesman did not try to up-sell me at all. He was patient and showed me a variety of choices. The area rugs were delivered at my request when they installed the wall -to-wall carpet at no extra charge. The installation could have been next day but I wasn't ready. It was installed on the day I requested. The installers were professional, polite and knowledgeable. They installed the carpet well, cleaned up the scraps and vacuumed. Overall it was a great experience. I will go there for all my flooring needs!

They were quick and did a good job of installation. With carpeting I like to wait awhile to see if there are any problems. After eight months I see a couple of places where it's starting to bubble up.

Our experience with him went fine. We have not decided who we are going with yet. Everything was great. My husband dealt with him, and he was really impressed by him. My husband felt pretty good with the price. He actually does not want to go get any more quotes and bounce like crazy. We would most likely consider using him.

The price included the pad. They gave us a good quality carpet at a reasonable price. I was happy with them and would go back again. It was pretty good.

I took my time, shopped around a lot to compare costs, and settled on Discount because they had the most straightforward pricing policy. The big box stores say they will install carpet for $97 but they won't remove your old carpet, move furniture, or do stairs for that price. At Discount, all facets of installation (except an extra $125 for stairs) were included with either the cost of the carpet (on select carpets) or for an additions $1.20 per square foot. I went with the latter because I wanted a high quality carpet. Dave, the salesman, was knowlegable and "low pressure" compared to other stores. The carpet price was essentially the same wherever I went and I may have paid more for installation and carpet removal than I would have at a big box store, but the installers were fabulous--on-time, helpful, professional, fast, willing to move the furniture and return it to its rightful place, and the carpet looks and feels great. They included a truly excellent pad. I love it! My friend had done the big box deal and said installation was poor--so I think I am glad I paid a bit more to get it done right and without the hassles of trying to figure out the real cost after including all of the nickle and dime add ons other places seemed to have.

We needed to replace the carpet in two upstairs bedrooms and the hallway. We discovered this place because the people who owned the house before us used them and they left us their receipt from when they replaced the carpet. I called them and a few other places. We saved about $300 dollars by going with them as opposed to the other places I called. I was worried since I saw that they got a D rating in "Responsiveness" and worried that the installation might not go according to schedule. But they were great! I give them an A. At the store our salesman was Dave. He was fantastic. He gave me all the information I asked for over the phone and then when I went to the store, he showed me all the different choices I had inside my price range. He was very clear and easy to understand. I had an easy time doing my price comparisons with they way he presented the information. He explained that after you pay for the carpet, you get a call from the installer within a few days to set up your install. I got my call in 48 hours and the installer came to the house to get the exact measurements. Two days later he was at the house installing the carpet. The installer's name is Gordon Beach. He worked with his son, Gordon, and the two of them did an excellent job. The installation had a really clean neat look. I was really impressed. Both times when Gordon showed up to take the measurement and install the carpet, he was exactly on time. I can't say enough good things about my experience with this company. I think that Dave and the two Gordon's had a lot to do with it. As long as they are there, this is an excellent choice for quality, value and reliability.

IT WAS EXCELLENT CARPETING. IT WAS VERY GOOD. THE MEN WHO DID THE JOB WERE VERY KIND AND VERY COURTEOUS. THEY DID EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO PLEASE ME. THE INSTALLERS WERE HIRED RIGHT OUT OF THE CARPETING PLACE. IT'S AN EXCELLENT JOB.
