Really pleased with the windows and service from Bennett. I'm new to the area so I leaned on recommendations from folks at work. Bennett was recommended by several coworkers. The estimator helped me find the right balance of price and quality. Their install team is a well oiled machine, they set a date and showed up a 8am sharp every day until it was done. Windows made quite a difference this winter compared to the 50 year old Van Patten windows I replaced.

Initially, we met with project manager, Tony Cicchino and project designer Sarah McDonald . We had more meetings and planning with Sarah . We found her pleasant to work with and she had ideas without being pushy. When it was time to select appliances and flooring, she met us at those business locations and together we met with the sales staff. Besides emails, we met with Sarah about 4 times at our home and her office. We enjoyed working with her and benefitting from her experience, Our only other contact with Tony was an issue with a cabinet with a lazy susan that that was resolved with a lowering of cost to remedy the the issue. Once the work began, the primary installer was Adam Squires.Adam was on site for about 6 weeks. He was at our house most days, at least 8 hours, sometimes more. Adam was a hard worker with quality skills and an eye for detail. He worked alone a majority of the days, unless an assist from a man named David, who helped with the painting and wall paper removal. We are retired, so my wife and I were home most days and we found him easy to be around while he worked. Adam kept the work area clean, which we appreciated. When we had questions or concerns, Adam was happy to discuss and sometimes offered alternative suggestions. This is the second time we have used Bennett Contracting. Overall, we were pleased with the renovation and recommend them highly.

I contacted Bennet Contracting to schedule a quote for a door and window replacement. The lady told me that the earliest available appointment was 5 weeks away. I agreed on the scheduled date for the estimate. The estimator called me a few days later and after describing the work detail, I also asked him to send me an email for the open slots on his calendar for an earlier date. He agreed to send the email but never did. I decided not to pursue for earlier rescheduling since I already had an estimate appointment at a later date. On the day of the original scheduled appointment the estimator called me and told me that he has an emergency and needs to reschedule. He told me that he will send an email or call again to reschedule. I was understanding of the situation and told him that I will wait for his call or email. Its been almost 6 months. They have still not contacted me. I hired another contractor and got the job done 3 months ago.

I hired Bennett contracting to convert an L shaped deck from wood to Trex. They were a delight to work with from beginning to end. EJ is very professional in producing the estimate and takes the time necessary to ensure that you are going to get exactly what you want. Price was fair. Joe C. built the deck and did a masterful job. It was clear that he would make sure things were done right. Problems with the deck foundation that came up along the way were carefully addressed and corrected. The Trex deck is beautiful.

It took longer to start the project because of personnel issues that Bennett had, but that wasn’t a huge problem. It just meant that the bulk of the work was being done during a very cold stretch of weather. That can be a problem when the garage door has to remain open and people are in and out. Other than that, once things started, it went well. Sean was great as were other members of the crew that did plumbing, etc. Steve, our project manager was very responsive and very helpful with dealing with some of the suppliers for things like shower doors. One other thing that proved invaluable was the assistance of their interior designer. She was always available to us and even met me at a tile store to help me choose.
The 2 carpenters- Ric (no longer w/Bennett, I understand) and Julian- were great. They showed up every day, cleaned up behind themselves each time and were easy and fun to work with. The job took about 4 weeks longer than planned- 4 mos instead of 3. I have no idea why. It wasn’t mentioned, but by week 10, it was clear to me it wasn’t getting done on time. Each time I asked- “So, how much longer?” I got a list of things yet to be done. The take away answer in my head each time was “as long as it takes.” So, that’s how long it took. I was tired of the disruption, but, since I liked the guys, it was tolerable. It cost what was estimated except for a few unforeseen issues, such as a buried hunk of concrete where they were digging the foundation (probably left over treasure from the addition the prior owner did) an add-on job (replace front porch deck) and, for some reason, an additional $500 for the “oversized” kitchen counter (which was the same size it started out to be- so, not sure why that was a surprise). Minor problems were dealt with and solved without much problem (E.G. kitchen faucet hole was drilled too close to the edge of the counter- water would’ve overshot and hit the floor when I swung the faucet from side-to-side), so, I ended up with a soap dispenser in that hole- way better than waiting for a do-over!). I was not happy with how the excavator “covered his tracks,” because he left some big ruts in the yard and didn’t put the rock retaining wall on the street back very well. I believe several of the rocks were left in the path of the big trucks, got crushed, and couldn’t be put back. The returned portion of the rock wall isn’t even with the untouched part of the wall. There was about a 1 ft dip from one part of the yard to the temporary “access road” created and used by the trucks during the project. I covered some of that with 2 yards of soil I bought the following spring, but with all the dirt they carted away from digging the foundation and the equipment they have, I think they could’ve done a better job of grading the soil and saved me $100 for top soil (and some back pain.) As I understand it, the excavator was not part of Bennett- that part was contracted out. The only other issue was the letters from the town a year after the job was begun (June 2018) because Bennett forgot to get the last inspection done at the completion of the job (Oct 2017). No huge problem in the end, but the letters threatening “legal action” if I didn’t respond and needing to call the PM a few times to get updates and a final inspection date so long after the fact was frustrating. However, overall, it turned out well and I’m happy with the results. And, from what I’ve heard and seen from others, for the size of the job, it went pretty smoothly and they took care of A LOT of details.

Fast service. Sean was dedicated to the job and went above and beyond. The job took 8 days from start to finish to remove the wall, move the electrical that was in the removed wall to another location, sand the ceiling, close the portion of wall that was open due to the removal, and put a hard wood strip in between the carpet of the living room and the tile of the kitchen. Though it was the most expensive quote we got for the job, I am sure the adage "you get what you pay for" applies here. Communication was on point via email and any changes were addressed in writing. They are a long standing company with a great reputation and are fully insured. Would use again.

Bennett worked seamlessly with my insurance company. Work was needed due to the result of an accident where a small pickup truck smashed into the corner of my house. Porch was knocked off of it's piers and torqued, so windows, siding, and other aspects either needed to be fixed or replaced. The effort was not cheap, but the insurance company paid for most of it. Bennett always stayed in touch, were on time, let me know when difficulties arose with the insurance company and were generally really great to work with. It was completely worth not having to worry about the work being done right and expeditiously.

After days of emailing w the company via Angies List, I received a text from the person that does the estimates. He could not confirm whether or not he could come out to provide an estimate, but stated he'd get in touch later in the week. The night before I had wanted him to come out, he started texting me at approx 8:10 pm and continued to send me messages until approx 9:20 pm. He still could not confirm whether he'd be able to provide an estimate or not. At approx 10:25 am the following day he texted to say he could now come to provide an estimate. I had previously asked him to come at 10:30. I told him I couldn't wait for him to get there....I had made other plans since I didnt hear from him. He later asked what work I wanted done and I told him and sent him pictures of the rooms I wanted renovated. That was on 7/17/18. On 8/1/18 I finally heard back from him, but still with no answers. When I stated I would need to work with a different company he said to contact him if I needed anything. Need anything???? Why would I ever work with a company that gave me the run around and then didnt even respond back to me for weeks? EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! WOULD NEVER EVEN CONSIDER HAVING WORK DONE BY THIS COMPANY!!!! F- - - - - - - -

Project manager mismeasured, which delayed figuring design, until i measured myself and found error. Written contract was given for my signature with materials changed (with no mention or heads up about change). When i asked pronject manager about it, he said it was better material (in his opinion), and same price, so he chaged it.........but he never made mention or a note that it had been changed in his email submitting the final design quote. if i hadnt read carefully i would have had a project made without the materials i spent time picking out with designer. If i hadnt double reviewed order for cabinet model, wrong cabinets would have been ordered. This project took waaaay too long. June to December. And costed waaay too much. Plumber left mess in basement where he installed connecting pipe. And 3 weeks later, the drain hose was pumping water all over my new wood cabinets for the deep sink and file drawers for the desk. (And all over and under new floor i had installed before they did the project). What kind of professional plumber doesnt know to securely secure drain hose of washer to withstand water pressure and vibration. When i called to get someone there quickly to fix it, the guy answering the phone, thought he’d hung up when he left a return phone message, and made fun of me while still recording. I have it on recording! I had high hopes when i started, maybe 2 people were professional, but the project manager and plumber and return caller cancelled them out by a lot.

Waited two weeks for an appointment for an estimate. Were quoted at the time of visit for three levels of work with prices ranging from $7000-$25000. Received email with official estimate approximately 10 days later. Prices were $23000-$45000. Obviously did not want the job and wasted our time instead of just telling us that. Have received other estimates in the $15000 range.

Our estimator Steve, made an onsite inspection of the proposed bathroom project on the 2/27/18 and emailed the owner a written proposal on 3/6/18. Perhaps the email was filtered into a spam or junk folder? If the owner would like us to resend the proposal, just give us a call and let us know.
It went well- It took a little longer than I anticipated but a lot of that had to do with the city permit/ inspections. I think the next time I do this- I will ask to see all the materials and fixtures before the project calls for that item to be installed. Review quality of material and dimentions of fixtures- so that there isn't a reorder delay.
