We contacted Bennett Contracing for a bid on the above work. Steve Drozdyk was the estimator and he met with us twice to discuss the project in detail. Steve was very professional and answered all of our questions. He provided us with an estimate and we made the decision to have them do the work. The work crew showed up on time and they were all polite and courteous. The work site was kept clean at the end of each day and they did their best to retrieve nails that were left on the ground during the process. The quality of the work was very good and the job was completed on time and on budget. About six months after the job was done there was a piece of soffit that came looose in a wind storm. We contacted Bennett and they sent someone to fix the problem within a week without charge. I would strongly recommend Bennett Construction for this kind of work and wouldn't hesitate to have them bid on other projects. They have been in the Albany area for a long time and I was looking for a reputable local dealer to do this work. Due to recent hail storms there were several out-of-town contractors that were knocking on our door every week and we weren't comfortable with this kind of aggressive marketing tactics. Bennett may not be the cheapest contractor but you definitely get what you pay for in their quality of work and excellent customer service.

When the estimator came out I did not have my direct vent fireplace installed yet. I wanted the window installed before the fireplace was installed. I wanted the two ends of the window to open to create airflow in the room. He said he I could not have a fireplace that close to a window. I listened to him and he made the window. After the window was installed I visited some friends who have windows that open on either side of the fireplace. I felt that was a large screw up and I am upset that my request wasn't met. The same man who came to estimate the job did not ask me about the thickness of the exterior walls. He assumed it was a 6 inches thick when they it actually 4 inches. When they brought the custom made window it was too large. The window was made for a 6 inch thick wall. The window is 10ft long and when they put it in they had to use a saw to cut some of the framing off. It was perfect when they brought it but after they had to modify the window it has nicks and chips and doesn't line up like it should. They had to take a lot of sheetrock off of the wall. They patched and painted it but it looks like it has waves now. When I noticed it they sent someone out to repair it. It still doesn't look great. Then one of the seals broke on the window and even though it was after the warranty expired they still honored the warranty. I might hire them again unless I found a company that suited my needs more appropriately.

They came highly recommended on Angie?s List. We had one giant picture window put in, which I guess would count as 3 windows. The job went very smoothly. The work was done in 2 days, and we hardly knew they were here. They disposed of the old windows for us. They were very good but were somewhat expensive. I?m sure that we could have gotten it cheaper. They were really excellent, and we had no problems whatsoever. I would use them in the future if necessary.

They did a wonderful job and people that come to our house comment about how nicely it was done. They are very efficient. We had to get a building permit and they took care of everything. There was never a time that they left things a mess and when they were completely done, everything was clean. It was a very good experience and we like the man they sent to do the work very much.

It went great! We agreed with them that it was not an emergency - the leaking only occured during a really driving rain, not with snow melt etc. They kept in contact as we tried to get the work scheduled. The skylights are on a steeply pitched roof - impossible for us to access - no trouble for them Very reasonable price.

Everything was good. They brought over the information with them and did not have to get back to us on it and also had samples on the windows and sidings and everything.

I've been very pleased with them. Their workmanship and their communication has been excellent. I haven't signed any other contracts with them yet, but they've agreed to handle this on an ongoing basis.

In terms of information and punctuality, Bennett Contracting is definitely someone that I would call again.

The work went well for us, but there were certain details that were overlooked, such as the grout falling out from the tile work that was done or the uneven seams that have small marks of paint. Evidently he didn't have the seam lined up. The majority of the work was fine, but with what I paid, I expect that they clean and leave the place with a lot less things for me to clean up or correct afterwards. I believe their price was on the high-side. I had to do a lot cleaning and straightening afterwards. For the price I paid, they should have cleaned up better. They were always punctual and responsive to our needs which spoke volumes to us. We would use this company again in the future.

The estimator was knowledgable and it was a good experience with him. The installation process was also smooth. He was skillful, organized, efficient and he cleaned up and informed me appropriately as well. The work was completed in a timely manner. I would recommend them highly.

From the start my experience with Bennett Contacting was a positive one. Phone calls were returned in a timely manner, and I had someone at my home to give me an estimate within a week of initial contact. The details of what the work would entail were described very clearly. The work was done when promised. The contractor even called me to let me know he was running a few minutes late that morning. Rate seemed quite reasonable, the staff friendly and professional, and the step looks great. I would definitely use this company again.

They were on time. They were informative. Their responsiveness was good. We have not made up our mind yet. We will use them again to get a quote.

Estimator arrived when expected and provided good information. Answered all questions. Job quoted was less than other estimate. materials were delivered and placed on driveway (didn't destroy our yard!). Workers arrived as scheduled, each day removed all debris - worksite was kept extremely clean and orderly. Job took 8 days from start to finish. They did what they said they were going to do. We are very happy with the results.

I initially contacted Bennett in June/July time frame. The estimator and I went over each item of work that I wanted done (I have prepared a draft specification for each work item). He wasn't sure about how much the front porch stairs would cost, but estimated between $7,000 to $9,000. His estimate for the rest of the work brought the total cost to just under $20,000. After some discussion, we amended the specification and I signed the contract and gave him a check for $1,000 to seal the contract and get on the schedule. A week later, the estimator called me and said that "his stair guy" looked at the stairs and said they couldn't do it for less than $20, 000 for the stairs alone. To which I said the contract is null and void if you insist on this price rise. After additional discussion, I insisted that he have his painter confirm the estimate for the skylight work. I also removed all the outside carpentry work from the specification and proceeded to find someone else who could do the work for $4,500 (and he did a good job of it). The actual workers were friendly and competent. They did a good job and cleaned up after each work session and did a final vacuum down three flights of stairs as well as damp wiped the plaster dust off the floor of the kitchen (they used a vacuum sander for the sanding portion of the kitchen so most of the plaster was the occasional drip of plaster which they cleaned up right away). On 11/24/2009, the estimator, Steve, called and offered his apology for his inaccuracies/deficiencies on this job. He identified that his boss had agreed that if I wanted to hire Bennet again, I could ask for another estimator. I accepted his apology.

It was excellent from start to finish.

Bennett started when they promised and did a quality job throughout. They sub-contracted for the building and install of the new stairs. Bennett did all the framing, electrical, and drywall. They did a great job and their carpenters went the extra mile to make us happy. The only downsides were the the job took longer than expected and sometimes they would pull guys off the job for a day or half-day in order to go work on other jobs.

Workers were professional, courteous and quick. One worker even did an extra unsolicited repair on a faulty storm door handle. Overall the experience was very positive. Quality of the windows seems good. My only surprise was that there was no inspection by a supervisor after the job was completed. I was unclear if the finish work on a picture window was as smooth as promised.

Project went very well. 100% satisfied with the outcome.

Service tech was awesome; he repaired the leak immediately and with little cost.

Because the 15 year-old triple glazed window had developed a leak and was clouded up between the panes, I looked for a replacement, but the manufacturer had gone out of business. I spoke to a dealer in eastern MA, who recommended the Velux brand. Bennett turned out to be the local retailer and installer. Greg came out, did a thorough estimate and worked to arrange a convenient time. The installation went very well. The workers were on time and did the job quickly and neatly in a day and a half. It turned out that the handle for opening and closing the window was the wrong design. Greg spent a great deal of time on the phone to suppliers finding the right one, which was mailed to me. I was unable to mount it correctly myself, so Greg sent the installer out to do it , a five minute job. After a week, or ten days, Greg stopped by to inspect it himself to see that it was done properly. I am very impressed with their workmanship and their willingness to get the job done right.

Window replacement was excellent, efficient and we were pleased with quality of windows. Minor problems fixed quickly, workers were very tidy and respectful of my home. The siding job was of somewhat lower quality. During the two week job, several problems were raised but most were not addressed. At completion of the job we contacted the company owner who was highly responsive in fixing what were essentially minor problems, but of concern.

We did not use this company. They responded promptly to my call, sent out an estimator that afternoon, called back later in the day with an estimate and sent me one in writing. However, we felt their estimate was too high.

They did a good job, there was another leak but they were good at coming back to fix it. They were very prompt. They told me if there are any more problems they would be back right away.

A time for the estimate was scheduled but had to be rescheduled due to illness of the estimator. He called promptly to reschedule and was professional. The estimator that we had, Brian was just great. He answered questions, showed us drawings, Gave us his renderings of the project. Verbally walked us through the project from start to finish. The job was scheduled to start in approximately 6 weeks. The Team Leader Chris called us a day ahead of starting and asked if it was ok for them to come. He was polite and professional. He told me to make sure I take pictures off the wall so nothing would fall and break during the project! Chris and company showed up on time, fully prepared to work and started each day promptly. They were better than an alarm clock! Work was completed with the contract framework even though the weather was not the best. Several days there were delays or shortened work sessions due to dowmpours or lightening. Chris would let us know what was going on throughout the project, glad to answer questions. He even put up with my neighbor who just cannot stay away from talking to a constrution crew! They found probelms with our window replacement and for a very, very, very small change order fixed them! They removed an tank from our cellar that we had spent 20 years looking for someone to do! Folks stop by our house and ask who the contractors were, make note of how nice our property looks after and during such a major project. The installers arrived early, which is a plus as far as I'm concerned. Each window was removed when they were ready to install the replacement unit---again a plus. If a problem or delay had arisen, there would be no openings left overnight. I expected some damage during the operation, but they kept it to a minimum. There is no need for anything more than spackling and touch-up paint in the immediate area of the windows. The windows were all installed within eight hours with the exterior trim installed the following morning. The installers began work immediately upon arrival and wasted no time throughout the entire day.
