On time, cleaned up great, fan works perfectly.

We were very happy with Bennett. Both times we used them they were professional and very responsive to questions and concerns. The workmen were very punctual - work always began when we were told it would and the workers very very diligent. They took a real concern in keeping the house clean and tried hard to minimize the disruption of the work to our family. We found their estimate was similar to ones we recived from other contractors. We especially appreciated the willingness of the Bennett people to work with us in keeping costs down. We would definitely chose Bennett again.

Bennett Contracting was very professional and considerate. They responded to our inquiry through Angie's List swiftly and arrived for the estimate on time. The estimator was very considerate, but a less creative than the handful of other contractors we had come through. It seemed Bennett was significantly more formal than the others, which has its advantages. In the end, they gave us a price on remodeling one upstairs bathroom and remodeling a half-bath into a full-bath downstairs. Their quote was at least 55% higher than the other contractors, and they were performing less work (we had also inquired with the other contractors about updating parts of our kitchen). In the end, we're sure they offer quality and professional service, but their pricing is astronomical compared with multiple other companies in the area. We've decided to go with another contractor whose prices were more reasonable but offered at least the same professionalism as we received from Bennett.

This was a complicated project with several subcontractors for the various parts of the work. All work was done on time, with high quality, attention to detail, and professionalism. The communication to us by the general contractor was excellent. They explained every detail as the project progressed, including when changes had to be made due to unforeseen conditions that were discovered during work. The entire project completed on time and on budget, in spite of various technical complications. I would hire Bennett Contracting, Inc. again in an instant.

It was a great experience from start to finish. Steve met with us and walked us through our options. We established abuget and he worked with us within that budget. There were no surprises. Aswemoved through the pproject, Brian was our go to guy. Their work was meticulous and each day the yard was cleaned up. Brian used his creativity and talent to create a diamond on the landing which really gave some character and design. Whenever we hadaquestion or noticeda potential problem, he was responsive and cleared up any concerns. All this while the rain was pouring on them or caused them to notbe able to work! We have found some boards that are questionable and we anticipate that they will be corrected. Will definitely work with them again...regret not having used them before!

John the wordier started or one day later and finish one day later he was very neat concerned with making us happy with the job.

Chuck, did all of the work on this project. He put in long days (after 7:00 am- 5:00 pm) and made steady progress. His work product was excellent, and he is a meticulous worker.

Steve D. returned our call and came to give us a written estimate. He was very professional and personable. He gave us several options in several different price ranges so we could choose the price we were comfortable with. Due to our circumstances, he was very patient and understanding of our needs. He was also extremely helpful in working with our bank and with the surveyors and the city when a problem arose during the building permit process. Steve and Bennett Contracting have a good reputation with the bank and with the city, which I believe helped to expidite the loan process and the building permit. As soon as everything was in place, the work was started in a very timely manner. Steve introduced us to the carpenters, and followed up during and after the construction of the new deck. The carpenters were very personable, professional, and responsive. The debris of the old deck was removed completely and as soon as it was torn off. When we had suggestions or requests during construction of the new deck, they followed up cheerfully and quickly. They solved problems and kept us informed. The only suggestion that I would make was for the lead carpenter on site to remain thoroughout the project. The lead carpenter changed several times, which was confusing. We would discuss something or agree upon something with one person, and then he would be gone. However, work progressed everyday with a great crew. Overall the experience was a great one. We are extremely happy with the new deck. When we had a small concern a couple weeks later, even after the bill was paid, we gave Steve a call and it was addressed immediately. Bennett Contracting will work to remain within their original estimate. They will go the extra mile to ensure your satisfaction. I would not hesitate to highly recommend them to others and I plan to hire them again.

Steve D. called us back and came to give us an detailed, written estimate in a very timely manner. The work was started a week later and took a couple days. The carpenter was very personalble, professional, and did a great job. He was very neat, putting up sheeting to keep the dust down in the rest of the house and cleaning up as much as possible at the end of the day and at the end of the job.. He asked for input and followed through. This was a great experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company or to hire them in the future, and plan to do so.

Steve D. returned our call and came to give us an estimate in a very timely manner. Being an older house, there were some unexpected things that needed taking care of. Steve worked with us on the design and gave us options so that this could be done and still remain within our budget. He also checked in with us during the process and upon completion of the job to ensure our satisfaction. The quality of the carpentry was outstanding, and the same carpenter was there every day from start to finish. He was very personable and professional. He initiated finding some designs to show us and getting our ideas. He took pride in his work, and went the extra mile to ensure that the quality was great and that we were happy with the outcome. He was very neat and cleaned up as well. Overall, this experience was outstanding. I can't think of anything that could have been improved. I plan on hiring Bennett Contracting in the future and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

It was a terrible experience.

They did a couple of small projects for me. I have a wooden framed brick house with an added porch that needed replacement because the wood peckers had pecked away at the wooden shingles, so they put up aluminum siding, which was a great match and they did excellent work. They staff and they are very knowledgeable. They are one of the best in my area. I would definitely use them again in the future if needed.

They came on time, worked fairly quickly with little disruption (except a radio).

I have used Bennett before, and as usual things went very smooth. They appear to be very busy and there was substantial lead time to get the project scheduled. Some of the scheduling leaadtime were caused by our personal requirements. Once the project started it went very smooth. Had a minor punch list item that required a half an hour correction after the job finished. This was handled quickly without hesitation.

Contractors were punctual and efficient. I initially had a problem in that the estimate for the job was about $800 but actual cost ended up closer to $1300. The difference was due to a couple of reasons - the window installation taking more labor than expected and the estimate being just that, an estimate. This is the first time I've hired a contractor and therefore the first I've dealt with the cost aspect, so the time and materials type billing was new to me. In light of the alternative, that corners be cut on the job to accommodate the original cost, I would rather be charged more for a quality job. My only recommendation is that the estimates be closer to the actual cost of the job - perhaps a low and high range would be helpful. So other than my initial surprise / misunderstanding over time and materials billing, everything went well with the job. I would recommend Bennett to my friends.

Thank you for making our dream come true. Our new bathroom is beautiful. We can understand why Bennett Contracting has been a respected and trusted business in the Capital District since 1915. We felt a real connection with Steve D. and Chuck. We appreciated the daily contact with Steve and Chuck and always knew our home was in good hands. Chuck really cares and it is reflected in the work he does. Steve was very helpful in coordinating the whole project and always keeping us informed. We look forward to working with Bennett Contracting Inc. on future improvements to our home. Great job!

They came back to replace the spindles that warped. This was part of the agreement when they built the railings. We like them because they are honest, prompt, and here right away.

The job went smoothly and on schedule. I had rotted exterior window framing, sills, and drip caps replaced on several windows and new framing around two doors constructed. The job was well done and the work site was left clean. Bennett Contracting was very professional. For a relatively small job they communicated with me several times, the salesman, Steve Drodzyk, came out to the site twice to meet with me, and the carpenter who actually did the job met with me once before beginning. All my questions were answered and the work was fully explained. I was not given the line, "Don't worry. Just trust me. It'll be fine." which I have heard many times before when I have asked questions. I also received a quick response from the carpenter, Joe, when I had a question about the work he had performed. He seemed to take pride in his work which is also becoming rare these days. I liked that Bennett adhered to state regulations, complying with lead regulations which other contractors I interviewed had not even mentioned.

Bennett Contracting provided estimate in June 2011 and then did work in September, working around my schedule. One carpenter, John, did most of the work including installation of the floor tile. John brought in Bennett's plumber and electrician as needed. Everything went smoothly from start to finish and consistent with the work schedule provided in June. I was consulted when necessary and any questions I had as the work progressed were graciously answered. All I can say is that everyone did the job asked of them and did it well. Without exception they were all pleasant to deal with and performed professionally. I would definitely hire them again.

I initially had a list of 1 plumbing and 4 electrical items that I contacted Bennett about. Steve came to do the estimate. He later sent a Time & Materials estimate "not to exceed" $1250. I knew that they were going to give me a "not to exceed" estimate, but I was shocked at how high the amount was. I didn't feel comfortable giving Bennett that much financial leeway because I never used them before, so I decided to have them only do 1 electrical item on my list. I agreed to a "not to exceed" $500 contract to get the outdoor outlets working. I knew the outlets weren't functioning, but Steve mentioned during the walk-through estimate that the outlets needed to be changed to GFCI units. However, when the Bennett electrician examined the outlets, he said they didn't need to be changed. He showed me that they just needed to be reset using a button adjacent to the circuit breaker box. He then downgraded the breaker for the outlets from 20amp to 15amp to alleviate a fire hazard. If I was evaluating Bennett on their service call alone, I would give them an A. Unfortunately, the process with the "not to exceed" contract, the estimator who provided incorrect information, and the fact that they said upfront that they wouldn't accept a Clipper Magazine coupon for "10% off any job" will most likely lead me to seek another contractor in the future. One more thing that I was not happy about... the electrician was at my house for about 40 minutes, but I was charged for 2 hours of labor (which includes drive time). I live within 4 miles of the Bennett Contracting office, so I can't help but wonder whether they padded the labor/driving time because materials for the service call cost less than $6.
