Description of Work: I have used Farrell Brothers 3 times in the last year for AC, furnace, and some minor electrical work. In every case, they were on time, reasonably priced and provided good explanations for the work performed. They have been able to respond quickly and even respond to service calls during what I would normally consider off-hours. I would recommend Farrell Brothers to anyone needing this type of work.

Description of Work: I scheduled the maintenance checkup, but found I needed service prior to the maintenance. Farrell Bros. was unable to schedule the service for me quickly when I called (they indicated it would be the following week unless a tech finished sooner, in which case they would contact me). I contacted another Angie's List recommended company who came out and did the repair within 2 hours! When I asked about their charge for the hvac maintenance, it was about the same or less than the Big Deal. Since they were able to give me fast, friendly service when I really needed it, I have decided to give them a try instead of Farrell Bros. I had used Farrell Brothers twice before and was disappointed. To be fair, Farrell did contact me later that day to offer a service time for the repair, but it had long since been completed.

Description of Work: Spoke with the company, ordered the coupon, called the company to schedule appointment. Then the company called back an hour later and said it would be an additional $725.00 at time of service.

Description of Work: Replaced 35-year-old oil burner and hot water heater with a combination heat and hot water propane wall-hung boiler.

Description of Work: Removed a broken garbage disposal from kitchen sink and restored usage, also identified the leak source under the sink and repaired it. Had a water overflow problem from water heater spilling gallons of water on basement floor. Plumber readily identified issue and resolved it at negligible cost. Also went the extra mile by assisting in cleanup by dumping collected water outside for me and by teaching me how to annually maintain my water heater on my own.

Description of Work: Bought coupon and then realized provider may not be able to clean our coil pipes. Called provider and they confirmed so we wanted to cancel. Provider may call us back with information about water treatment system instead.

Description of Work: Tightened leaky kitchen faucet with wrench. Faucet began leaking water again in 3 days.

Description of Work: The original problem was to deal with a toilet that was not flushing properly. It was determined that there was no real blockage but that the toilet brand had a small opening which caused the flushing to fail. We were allowed to provide the toilet (at a savings to us) and they removed the old toilet and installed the new one. This fixed the problem. The cost stated does not include our out of pocket cost for the toilet but does reflect a $99 coupon for $200 of labor. The employee was courteous and informative.

Description of Work: fixed the running toilet and the leaking pipe under my kitchen sink. As an added bonus the plummer helped solved the low water pressure that I have been experiencing with the hot water faucet in the kitchen sink that I've been dealing with since I moved in to my home in 2006. Simply, it was the valve wasn't opened up all the way!!! This was something that I have been seeking answers to, and even the so called hvac experts who have been servicing my boiler couldn't figure out.

Description of Work: This company extremely underestimated installing a sun pump and I would never use this company again which was I received a refund to provide this service. It took them way longer than the estimated project completion date as agreed upon and and as a result I needed to take more time off from work. It became very apparent that the line staff did not agree with the timeframe the owner had agreed upon as noted by the return trips and the continued secret out of house calls w/the owner. Then they attempted to charge me for service calls...due to their incompetence which I refused to pay. When this did finally get installed--I had problems right from the get go..so again, I had to call them to come back. I will never use and/or recommend this company even if they had to pour draino down your pipes. The ironic conclusion of this awlful ordeal was...since I refused to pay for 2 additional services charges due to their incompetence, they said we can no longer provide service to me. I was jumping for joy and said I would never ever use and/or recommend them again...Note: they also made a mess of my basement and did not clean up as again I was told would happen. Shortly there after, I found out my sister also used them and had a very similiar experience. I did have problems with the sun pump after this experience and called upon another company that has a great long standing relationship--they agreed that the space was not large enough for the pump and they should of drilled more space around the pump--but when they realized the project was larger than anticipated--they cut corners to make it up. Please make sure you do not engage this company in any type of plumming work. Stay far away!!!

Description of Work: I did not use the service and applied for a refund, which Angie's List courteously provided. The $200 deal apples after a charge of approximately the same amount to have the plumber come to the house. This was not clear in the promotion. The reviewer information makes this type of an issue difficult to make clear. For all I know, this was an excellent plumber, but it may be that the scale of services he seeks to provide is more that what I wanted at the time.

Description of Work: Had a water seepage problem in the basement at the drain line. Initial thought was that the clean-out plug (which had been replaced a month before) was leaking. Discovered that the lead caulk used between the copper pipe and the drain line had deteriorated and was seeping. Due to construction constraints, the caulking could not be removed and replaced. Plumber cut of old drain pipe and installed new piping using plastic. Works great now with no leaks.

Description of Work: I am writing this letter of recommendation even though Farrell Brothers did not eventually perform the work I had planned. Another contractor was chosen because the scope of the job changed through no fault of Farrells..I want to compliment Randy from Farrell for the complete proposal he prepared. Randy was prompt to the job and indicated he was flexible in working with an already installed "pex" (?) system that needed upgrading and additional radiators installed in accordance with code in an old Saratoga Springs home. Randy was familiar with the installation but since the scope of the job changed, I was more comfortable with a previous proposal. Farrell Bros. is a solid company and I would have chosen them under different circumstances. Thanks

Description of Work: Requested assistance to solve an intermittent sewer gas smell we've been experiencing in two bathrooms (tub and shower drain). The fellow arrived as scheduled. It was a day (of course) that the smell was not in evidence. The fellow walked around to the various sinks and tub/shower drains in the house to check if there was water in the traps. [We already knew to do that for ourselves and had done it.] Even though the smell was not in evidence when he was here, we don't understand why he could not have understood that it does exist and is very unpleasant (dangerous?) and treated it more seriously AND recommended some solution. None was given - just the bill.
