Albany Tree & Property Service

The service was excellent. The tree was properly trimmed as requested. Everything was cleaned up and hauled away. The price was $900 and I used an Angie's List deal ($400 worth or service for $200). $900 seems a little pricey but I guess it's the going rate. The trees were among utility lines and precariously leaning over the house so peace of mind is worth alot! Thanks Albany Tree Service.

He arrived on time, worked efficiently, left nothing behind and did a phenomenal job of cutting the fallen trees and mulching materials. Highly recommend!.

He did not call ahead and showed up when I was not there and then called my cell phone to tell me he was done. The service he had described was not provided as he only barely touched the fir tree by cutting what he could reach from the ground with a hand saw. I had used an Angie's list coupon and when he first gave me an estimate I believe he adjusted the initial cost making the "deal" from Angie's not much of a deal. I did agree to it, but then he gave me no forewarning with a call and showed up on his own, and he did not provide the service originally described. When he left originally he did not complete the fir tree trimming that we had discussed. After I contacted him he returned while I was not there, and left without trimming the dead wood out of the higher branches. By this time I was so disappointed in the service that I didn't recall again, taking it as a lesson learned about Albany Tree Service. They should strike service out of the name of the business.

I call Joe, left a message, came by all in the same day. I expected the work to be done the following week but he came the next day.

Very knowledgeable and prompt. Missed a few branches on clean up but not a big deal.

Their communication and paper work side was not as professional as I would like it to be. Their pricing was pretty average.

The estimate received from Albany Tree Service was less than 1/3 of that of another "A" rated Angie's List provider. Joe Stevens came alone and completed the job fairly quickly, also providing some helpful information on maintaining the health of the trees on my property. The actual cost matched the estimate. He did a good a good job of cleaning up. The only issue was some damage to a landscaping bush caused by a falling large branch.

I called Joe at Albany Tree after obtaining multiple quotes from other local providers. Albany Tree Service provided the best price, best service, and most professionalism of any company I contacted. There was a very tricky and dangerous tree leaning on my house, which was in between two other houses in a very tight area. On my first contact with Joe, I was impressed by his professional attitude and his concern for my urgent matter on taking care of this tree. Joe was able to get the job done quicker than expected, and he came to the job site the next day to give me a quote. I was very pleased with the initial price that I asked him to look at another project in the area that had to be done. The price I was quoted was very reasonable for the job. Other companies, one of which is a very popular firm in the capital region refused the job because they stated it was too risky. I was confident that Joe was able to remove this tree and he exceeded my expectations. As for the overall job, I was impressed that the area was cleaned up, no damage to any property, and most importantly, the neighbors complimented on how the crew was very professional. Joe followed up with me every step of the job, and I will be contacting Albany Tree for many more jobs at my rental properties.

s. It went very well. He was quick, neat, helpful and very easy to work with. He arrived when he said he would and cleaned up all the debris. He will complete the job as soon as a piece of equipment arrives as he has yet to remove the stump which was part of the contract. He did try to sub contract the job but their equipment was to large to get into our back yard. All in all I was very pleased a truly expect that he will complete the job as soon as possible.

Steve Stephens "forgot" our appointment at noon, I called later in afternoon and he came by that night. He was very apologetic, saying business was really crazy busy right now. He discussed tree fungus, gave advice for care and came back the next day and pruned our tree. He was very polite and seems to really know his stuff for organic care of trees. I would recommend him and hire him again.

It was just one worker. There were some mix-up with scheduling with him, but some of it had to do with weather and things like that. Once the date was finally firmed down he did show up when he said he was going to. It took him a little bit longer to do. The second party was supposed to grind some stumps for us and he had to hire that out I guess. The other stuff was completed within a day, but then he had to come back and do the stumps. I think they are limited with what they can do as far as cutting trees. He couldn't do the large trees and we ended up using somebody else. He's a one-man-show basically. He contracts out to do larger work. It wasn't quite what he described to begin with, but he's a smaller service. I think he does some other things that are non-tree related, but he's limited on what he can and can't do as far as taking down certain size trees and reaching trim areas on larger trees for how high up he goes. There were some mix-ups on the price too until we finally agreed. There was a mix-up on what he was going to do and what he ended up doing. He then ended up giving me some money back because he didn't do everything he was supposed to. Price-wise, I guess it was reasonable. He quickly took down the stuff and got everything off the property. I would probably not use him in the future just because he's limited on what he can do for removing trees.

I had posted a poor review, Joe read this and contacted me. He came back to the house to look at a shrub I thought had been destroyed by a log that fell on it. It turned out that the bush was ok, just abranch broken. Joe noticed that there were several logs that had not been cut through, he came back the same day and cut them up. There had been confusion on the quoted price, I thought the price had included the coupon I had purchased it had not, Joe refunded the coupon cost. I was very happy with his responsivenesss.

He did a good job. He was okay. I don’t know if I would recommend them. I asked them if it included grinding the stump and taking away the debris. He said yes. This was over the phone. Then we he came to work he said grinding the stump was extra. I don’t know if I would use them again. He did good work and he cleaned up. That’s all I am going to say. The price was good. I had no problem with it.

Not much to detail, he did the job very quickly and the stump grinding was done to 8 - 10 inches under ground level, a perfect job. Price was good even without the $200 coupon I bought from Angie's for $99. I will hire him again and already recommended him to two different friends who need tree service as well.

It was so long ago that I don't remember the exact date or the cost. All I remember is that he was very prompt, took care of exactly what I asked for, and was very reasonable.

I was very impressed by the science involved in tree trimming/removal.

The owner was prompt in giving me an estimate the other day. Came promptly today and completed the job quickly and efficiently Would not hesitate to recommend him.

It was excellent. He was informative and knowledgeable about his profession. Pointed out things about the trees and what was happening. It was a really good experience.

Two weeks prior, Joe provided me an estimate for the grinding and removal of the stump, assuming the use of his large machine. He informed me that, while my job did not require the larger and more powerful equipment, that's what he'd be using on other jobs so that's what he'd use on my job. With my Angie's List discount (as indicated in the monthly mailer (advertising works!), he quoted me a cost of $85 which I agreed to. He arrived this morning in the midst of some lousy weather--10 minutes later he was done! Joe groomed the area after completion of the stump grinding such that there's no evidence that there was ever a tree there! While I was writing the check to pay him, he informed me that the charge was only $50, as he had used his smaller machine, consistent with the needs for the job. Needless to say, I was impressed! He spoke to me some about the merits of organic gardening (and living), and that alone was worth his visit!

I found an online Groupon for 50% off ( $400.00 service for $200.00) through Angie's list for Albany Tree and Organics. I purchased it and left my information with the purchase order. The owner, Joe Stevens, called me back within a couple days of the order. He set up a date to look at the 5 stumps that I wanted removed. He was a little late arriving that day, but he did explain that it had been raining and he got a bit tied up with the job he was finishing. He looked at the areas and told me the Groupon would cover all the areas mentioned. I had him look at another multi trunk tree stump ( big ) and he gave me an additional price to remove that stump. He told me he would be able to do it the next week and would get back to me with the exact date. He did follow up with a call telling me what day and time he would come with the stump grinder. He showed up as stated and completed all the work, although I was not able to be present my neighbors told me the work was done by quite a remarkable machine. The big pieces of the stumps were removed by Mr. Stevens. There was still some expected cleaning up to be done , so grass seeding could be done. My husband and I were satisfied with the work performed. We would use this service again.
