Problems:
1. This company expected one installer to install all the cabinets in two days. He worked 12-14 hour days with no break. He was a mexican guy and he said he only is given two days for the job to be complete. This was ridiculous and he worked so hard no wonder he made mistakes. He was nice and polite but I did not like him pushing me to accept "sub-standard" work. He kept trying to get me to agree to changes he was making in the install. I told him he was the installer and so he should know what is best, I am not experienced in this work. He had help a couple times from another worker for the heavy lifting, that was all. I was truly amazed that this guy could do so much so fast. But it showed in his work - shoddy at best. I dont' blame him as much as I blame this company.
2. Four mistakes were made with the install. I had to pressure them to take care of the problems. They send out the project manager. I was super mad that after the cabinets were in, the counter top company came out for the measure from California. They could not measure because the sink cabinet was installet crooked. They charged extra for having to come out again. The installer used shims and wood blocks (they found in my yard) to anchor the cabinet to the pony wall. It looked awful and it was not straight.
The next mistake was made in that the wrong brackets were used on the lazy susan so it would not pull out all the way. The installed kept trying to tell me that was how they work, wrong. Later they fixed it with right size brackets.
The next mistake was made when they did not line up the upper cabinet edge with the lower cabinet edge. It was so easy to see the bottom was an inch and half off from upper cabinets. The counter top people said it would be even more noticable when counters go on. They had to come out again and move the upper cabinets to the right to line them up.
The next mistake was the box for the dishwasher was not correct. It had to be redone so that the measurements were accurate for the dishwasher.
3. After they told me everything was done, it wasn't. I had to go in begging again to get things right. They did not make the cabinet for the double ovens to fit. I was told by the orginal design consultant they are made to fit and that was the reason they ask for the measurements before they make them. The receptionist tells me the front board is a trim kit and the oven installer will cut to fit. Home Depost said no it should be made to fit or it would cost me $150 for them to cut. They finally sent out the project manager to make this cut. Plus he had to cut a hole in cabinet for the dishwasher hoses. The cabinet installer told me they cut those holes all the time but he would have to see the d/w (i did not have it yet) to know where to cut it. Really? I begged him to just cut a hole, any hole, even a big hole so the hoses would go through. He did not cut it and the project mgr did it but said it was not his job. Constant pass the buck attitudes.
The kitchen cabinets had to be measured three times just to check for accuracy. I was even using a level myself. They were not 100% level but close enough. I just wanted this job done after two months with no kitchen. Their mistakes made the job take longer and my life miserable. I take care of my 95 yr old mother who does not leave the home. How do you fix her food and clean up the dishes. It was like camping for two months and stuff all over my living room in boxes. I asked the original consultant "what if I have a problem" he hesitate a long while before saying " we will take care of it". He knew they are not professional and they get complaints and I am sure that is why he no longer works here.
This company sells garage cabinets, closet organizing, and wall beds. They are super busy but they also prefer to save money by not allowing proper time to do installs. Plus they should immediately reassign a customer to another consultant so that someone is looking over the job at all times. The receptionist has no business doing this kind of work as you can tell she does not have the skills for it. She answers phones and sets appointments.
The design consultant drew up the diagrams, broke down the cost, took our personal info, at set the payments to be made. We asked if we could pay it all by check and he said yes but he would still need our credit card into. We asked "why". They were making sure they got payment because once the cabinets are made and installed they are stuck if the customer fails to pay the last 1/3 of money owed. Fine, I understand that but it should have been noted that we would pay all by check as agreed. We still had problems to get fits with the install and they had already charged my card the balance. They did not ask me for permission to chanrge my card. I should never have to pay until the job is done right period.
I really thought long and hard about taking this company to the contractors board. But since things finally got done (with plenty of headaches and worry for us) we decided to let it go. BUT I warn anyone who want to use this company that be careful that you get quality work as promissed. My experince was not good. I never rate companies an "F" but this one deserves it.
Great experience all around. Brian, the salesperson, was thorough, educational, gave great advice, responded to every question and issue promptly. Appropriate follow up after the project.
Production time was as planned and install occurred on days originally established. Installers were prompt, clean, courteous. Quality was above expectations. Two minor issues addressed quickly.
Price was less than expected.
Office staff superb with routing questions and obtaining answers. I felt informed throughout.
Would recommend to others.
Update: one drawer cover was addressed by installers but sales rep very slow to respond. Finally was told quality of the drawer was not guaranteed but we could pay ourselves. Cost: $25. Minimal cost for much bad will.
