Description of Work: I called for there 24 hour service at 6.00 am. Had to call back ay 8.00 as no one called me and was told that the lady that answered said she would have to check with the boos to see if they had a truck able to come out. Waited another hour and no callback and mind you it is now down to 50 degrees in my house in the dead of winter. I called ALL Hours Air and he was at my house in 15 min. Calles Weakland's and they really did not care that I found some else, and Weaklands was highly recommended to me. I guess 24 hr service does not mean thay at Weaklands

[member name removed], I would like to apologize for this. We went through our records and show the call coming in on November 17th, it is even in our schedule as an emergency call that was cancelled, in fact we had written up an invoice for it already to dispatch to our service tech. On that same day our service tech called in sick, but waited until 8:15 to call in. When you called back the girl in our office let you know that we would be able to come out there, we just didn't have a time yet because we still needed to sit down with the owner and do the schedule. Because someone called in sick it took us longer then normal to reorganize our schedule which is why we didn't call back right away. However on this day we also had four calls that were scheduled for our tech that called in, so we had to do a lot of re-arranging. Our normal policy is to tell emergency calls like yours that we will call you twenty minutes before we head there because we never know when a window of time will open between scheduled calls. We did have you in our schedule though listed as an emergency call and it looks like we wouldn't have been able to make it until after 12:00pm. I was glad to hear you did find someone to take care of your heater, and that you did get heat. Sometimes when employees call in our day gets a little bit hectic and I apologize if you felt like we didn't care if you found someone else. We are not able to take every call immediately because we do have daily scheduled calls, which does sometimes mean emergency calls are fit in wherever we can find space for them. We would have made it to your house that day, but not as fast as that other company. Again, I am sorry, we try to take care of every call we get, we are a small two man shop and sometimes we cannot take care of everyone when obstacles get in our way.

Thank God this thing was in the garage, so the leak didn't really do very much damage. The old unit had to be drained and disconnected, and then lifted off the platform it was on in the garage. After 15 years of sediment build-up, these things are d*** heavy, so one of Kurt's helpers came to the house and between them they removed the old unit and lifted the new one into place Kurt put down a piece of plywood on top of the platform under the new water heater, because over the years leaks had made the OSB that was there weak. He installed the new unit. which of course was a different height, so some of the plumbing had to be changed out. He installed a drain pan under the new unit (the old one didn't have one). He installed earthquake straps (the old unit only had one, and it had come detached from the wall). And of course he re-connected the propane line and re-plumbed the pressure relief valve After all that, he fired up the new unit, bled the air from the lines, and checked everything to be sure it was working. This unit has a Honeywell electronic gas valve, so he showed me how that worked, and how to relight the pilot if needed. He checked the propane pressure to be sure that it was correct (our propane comes from a tank, and sometimes the regulator gets out of adjustment) He and his wife then hauled away the old unit, all the debris, and cleaned everything up. It all works well, and it is a much more professional installation than we had before.
Description of Work: The 15 year old water heater died over Memorial Day weekend. They called me back on Monday on their way back from a holiday camping trip. On Tuesday they found a replacement propane water heater locally. Owner Kurt Weakland came out to the house, replaced the failed water heater, cleaned up, and we had hot water again!

Serviceman showed up on time. He took only about ten minutes to figure out that there was a broken drain line exterior to the furnace, not a plugged interior line. He then noticed that the people who had installed the air conditioning had not plumbed in the secondary drain. So, he replaced the broken pipe, and installed the secondary drain, and then tested it. All told, about an hour. Very professional work.

It went great! Quality and proffesional work! They laid down tarps on the floors, cleaned up after themselves each day, on time, friendly, kept in good communication on how the job was going, used quality parts and materials, etc,etc,etc! Our 40 year old oil furnace needed replacement and I had three contractors out for estimates. Weaklands was not the lowest bid, however we were very impressed with Kirk’s knowledge of oil furnaces and his detailed explanation of the process involved in removing and replacing the old furnace. His team arrived on site exactly at scheduled and both men were friendly and conscientious. They carefully covered all the floors and stairs before starting work. They removed the old furnace with no problems and cleaned up the whole area afterwards. They returned the next day, as scheduled, with the new furnace and had it installed and working with no problems. They carefully explained how the new furnace (oil) was different from the old clunker that chugged and coughed whenever it started and how quietly and more efficient the new one is. We’ve not had any problems with either the furnace nor the new thermostat and Weakland’s called during the first three months of operation to see if we had any questions or issues. We usually try to contract with local family-owned businesses and we were very happy with the friendly, knowledgeable and professional Weakland family and their crew. One of the other bidders on this project was a larger company and they told us our entire venting system needed to be replaced along with the old furnace because of possible leaks in the exhaust pipes. The Weakland crew checked all the vents, flues and exhausts and resealed everything to ensure there were no leaks.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced our 40 year old oil furnace with a new Spirit oil furnace.

I bought the house three years earlier and had not performed maintenance on the furnace. I used to work years ago for a HVAC firm, so knew a lot about what is involved in a maintenance call. The tech was unaware of my knowledge. The tech was very well informed, did not try to sell me additional work that was not required, and took the time to tell me what he did find and the maintenance he performed. I had bought my own filters for the furnace, and he installed those (in a difficult to reach location) for no extra charge. Using the online coupon for the service I had the Weaklands tech perform, he did not charge me a penny over the coupon price. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the service, being on time at the predetermined appointment scheduled, and not trying to use the car salesman tactic to sell me more than I needed. I am a single older woman, and have experienced a lot of ‘techs’ through the years trying to sell me items I don’t need. Weaklands did not do this. I will definitely use them for years to come.

I don't like the buyers remorse feeling you get when you have a set amount of money to spend and then a salesman comes to your house and after he left you spent triple the amount of money you wanted to spend. For that reason Weakland's does not have sales people. All bids are give by the owner. If you need a furnace, we bid you for a furnace only, not an EAC, water heater, A/C and humidifier or whatever else they can try and get out of you. Thank you for the great comment. Our furnace stopped igniting on Saturday morning, 1/28/12. Called Weakland's and informed them of the problem and told them that it was not an emergency because I had enough supplemental heat (electric heaters) to keep the home comfortable until Monday. On Monday morning at 8:15, I was notified that a repairman would be out within an hour. The repairman arrived on time, diagnosed the problem and replaced a broken igniter. While on the job, the repairman inspected several relevant items, performed some minor cleaning services and observed the furnace through a couple of heating cycles. His total time on the job was about one hour. I have used Weakland's a couple of times in the past ten years and this job went, as the others have, very very smooth. They are nice people to work with. I gave the Weakland's a "B" on their price because I've always thought they were a little high on parts costs.

Furnace failed early Saturday morning. It was about 30 and snowing outside, and inside it was 59. Called, reached wife of owner. He was on his way to his brother's, but she diverted him to our home. He had the parts needed, repaired the furnace, adjusted the gas pressure, and checked it all over to be sure it was running correctly.He did a very thorough job. We're going to use him for periodic maintenance, because he really knows the system--he also does A/C and replaces waterheaters.
Description of Work: .Repaired failed gas furnace. Replaced electronics board, adjusted propane pressure, cleaned furnace, checked motors and thermostats.
