Description of Work: Sanded and stained my distressed deck- it looks like new again.

Description of Work: I recently completed new landscaping and replaced an old fence that was in disrepair and about to collapse. I decided that even though the new fence was made of redwood, because of the cost it would be best to protect it. I live in a terraced neighborhood and retaining walls protect the different levels between yards. Because of that it was going to be a challenge to seal both sides of the fence. I was hoping to find someone who would look at my fence as more than just a job, but took pride in his work. I requested quotes from six companies in my area. I accepted the bid from Vandermark & Sons Painting, Inc. I went with this company because the person who inspected the job didn’t just determine the square footage of the fence. But took the time to inspect the job and determine what was needed to complete the job. Before starting the job, all the rock was removed from the front of the fence. Cardboard was placed beneath the fence to prevent anything that would be damaged by the stain would be protected. While painting drop cloths were used to prevent overspray from getting on surrounding surfaces. After finishing the job, the area was cleaned up and the rock returned to its proper place. The day the fence was painted the weather report called for the possibility of scattered showers. The foreman was concerned that in the event of light rain the flat surfaces of the fence might have rain spots and contacted me the next morning to check if any damage occurred. If there were any spots they would return and correct the problem. From my first contact with Vandermark to job completion I was impressed with the professional attitude, attention to detain and determination to do the job right. In this day and age of get the job done regardless of the quality of work, this was refreshing. I would recommend Vandermark to anyone who is interested in quality work. I plan in the coming years to have the company come back check how the fence is weathering and re-stain it when necessary.
