+ -1 moreWe called James Thursday and he was able to come to our office to diagnose our computer the next day. Our computer had been running slow and QB had been freezing on us. James ran a quick diagnostic of our computer and internet connection and determined that our problems were stemmed from a slow internet connection. Luckily there was no virus affecting the performance of our computer. Now we just have to deal with our internet provider to try and get them to fix the problem. James did not charge us for his time. He was very helpful, straightforward and honest. We sill definitely use him in the future and refer him to our family and friends.
Description of Work: Scanned our computer for potential virus.

+ -1 moreHe was punctual, to come to the house, he had to take computer back and had it for a week. But it was worth the wait, now my computer runs like new. He even took time to look at our other computers, and told us what was wrong, and fixed the color in one, and told my husband that the other one was to old for virus protection, and not do any banking or credit card use on it. If you want a good computer repair, please call Jim.

He had to take my machine back to the office and said he felt confident he could remove viruses so I wouldn't have to replace my PC. He phoned 3 days later, as promised, and returned my PC. He backed up my files and answered my questions, thoughtfully and thoroughly. I wouldn't hesitate to call on him again. I appreciated his saving me from buying another computer, and was pleased to deal with someone who was obviously an expert in his field.
Description of Work: removed multiple viruses from my PC, installed security software, answered lots of my questions.

+ -1 moreAFTER THE INITIAL CALL AND AGREED UPON TIME, HE CAME TO MY HOUSE AND PICKED UP MY LAPTOP. GOT THE INFO ON MY PROBLEMS. ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED DONE. TOLD ME WHEN HE WOULD BE BACK AND CALLED THAT MORNING TO TELL ME A TIME HE COULD BE OUT WITH THE COMPUTER. WAS ON TIME, MADE SURE EVERYTHING WORKED TO MY LIKING AND ASKED IF I HAD ANY QUESTIONS, TOLD ME TO CALL IF I HAD ANY PROBLEMS. WOULD ABSOLUTELY CALL HIM AGAIN. THANKS

+ -1 moreMy computer crashed and my son, who lives in another state and is in the business, was not able to help over the phone. I called James on a sunday and he was here within the hour. He checked what he could and I called my son and put him on speaker. The two talked tech-talk and it was determined that the hard drive was shot. James saved what he could to a thumb drive for me and left. He was here between 2-3 hours and my son and I decided that he was very through and if I needed any type of help in the future, he would be my first call. Since it was about 3 years ago, I'm estimating the cost, but I do remember he was very reasonable.
Description of Work: James analized what he could of a sick computer, checked different systems and even opened it up to check all the connections.

Description of Work: I am not computer-literate. Actually, I hate computers but, alas, cannot live without them. Whenever I have a computer problem (and I've had many over the last half-dozen years), I call RenoGeek. He's always prompt and he always fixes the problem. His fees are reasonable and he gets right down to business, never spending more time "on the clock" than necessary. I wholeheartedly recommend him (James Smith). He's the only one I ever call. Often he has instructed me over the phone on how to fix my computer problem -- all at no charge.

+ -1 moreJames is always on time, gets right to work and doesn't waste any time. He will answer your questions and make related recommendations, if you ask. Twice he has responded on the same day as my phone calls, even on weekends. I have recommended him to friends more than once and they all sing his praises, too. I consider myself "computer illiterate," but James has never made me feel intimidated or idiotic. He does work for individuals like me, as well as for firms with banks of computers and sophisticated systems.
Description of Work: Renogeek has serviced my electronic problems several times, each time prompting my awe at his knowledge and skills. One time, after he had worked 1.5 hours unsuccessfully to try to connect a router so that my house would be wireless, he refused to accept payment, saying, "I have a policy that if I can't do what I said I'd do, I don't charge a service fee." Another time when my computer would not accept a new printer, he finally opened the computer casing and, with a tweezer-like tool, fished out a little metal disc. He held the disc, a battery, in the tweezer for a minute or so. When I expressed curiosity, he said, "I'm hoping it'll forget [what it was programmed for]." And it did! He replaced the battery and voila! my new printer was installed without further incident.
