I have given Paul’s two chances to do the right thing and refund me for two separate visits, where two separate technicians, completely misdiagnosed, my oil, furnace, and didn’t even bother to see what the actual problem going on was. The first technician told me that it was just a fan switch that got turned on somehow that was causing it to only blow cold air. The issue was not fixed so a second one came out and I paid a second service call fee. This seemed odd, because they didn’t properly diagnose the problem the first time, but whatever. The second technician tried to tell me that the system was far too large for my 2000 square-foot house and was installed improperly and was creating a soot problem, and that it had to be completely replaced as What it would take to clean it would cost more than a new system. He also indicated that oil was completely obsolete now and basically told me that I would most likely need to convert to a completely different type of heating system upwards of $25,000. Something didn’t quite sit right with me, so when they reached out to see if I was ready to schedule an appointment to have the new electric heating system installed, I told them that we weren’t going to be doing it anytime soon since winter was now over. I ended up calling around and was referred to someone who specifically specializes in oil furnaces. He came out, ran some diagnostics and figured out that the only reason why it was blowing cold air was that it needed a good cleaning, and a new filter. That was all it needed in order to properly function. The furnace was not too big for the square footage of my house, and no, it was not improperly installed. The post technician also led me to believe that my furnace was installed in the early 90s. The new furnace technician actually checked the serial number and two spots confirmed that they both matched up, and told me that the serial numbers have a code in them that will tell you exactly when they were manufactured. Mine was manufactured in 2003, not the early 90s. He completed those tasks, and now my furnace works perfectly. The two technicians from Paul’s never even bothered to look at the oil filter. I am completely disgusted that a local company that touts that they’re so knowledgeable and heating systems. Completely failed to properly diagnose such a simple thing and tried to then sell me on a new $25,000 system. I called them to ask for a refund for the two service calls, as I should not be out that money when they failed miserably to properly diagnose the issue. I was assured that a manager named James would call me back promptly. And he never has. As a business owner myself, I cannot believe that a company would just blatantly refuse to do the right thing and make something right when they screw up so badly

James came and checked it out and decided that both the electronic controls and the ignitor were bad. Ordered the parts and kept us informed of the status. It was then promptly repaired once the special order parts arrived.

Description of Work: We had a leak in our water heater and Paul's Plumbing came out on a Sunday. It was deterrmined our 20-year old water heater need to be replaced. They assisted in plugging the leak and came the next morning with a new unit and replaced it. They didn't charge us for the Sunday visit since we decided to do the replacement. Great job -- and they explained everything.

I contacted Paul's for some plumbing work on my home. When Thomas came out he was very nice, he seem to take care of things however, I later found out that what he said he fixed was actually not fixed at all and once again I had water pouring into our home due to a broken hose bib that Thomas said he had replaced. I have since called and texted several times and have gotten no response. I paid Paul's $1480 for the work Thomas did on my home however, stupid me, I trusted that things were done right and that Thomas was going to come back and finish the other things he said he would do. Since then, I have actually been charged over $1600 to my credit card and received a new invoice which doesn't make sense because the invoice I first got said the rate would be $1480 "flat rate" which included any additional parts needed. I did not expect this out of Thomas as he seemed to be so nice and accommodating nor did I expect this from Paul's plumbing. I feel stupid and too trusting that I paid them without checking that everything was OK and prior to the job actually being finished. I will be disputing the charge on my credit card, will file a complaint with the contractors board and will never hire Paul's plumbing again. To everyone out there who reads this...please beware of this company. Make sure that when you sign the invoice they hand you the receipt right then and there so that they can not add things once you have signed, such as "estimate" at a later time, prior to them mailing the invoice to you. This will help prevent them from charging your credit card at a later time, more than what you agreed to. also, make sure the work has been properly completed before you pay them. Do not trust their kindness act they put on to get you to trust them.
Description of Work: Thomas from Paul's plumbing heating and air conditioning came out to my home and replaced three shower heads, three faucets, said he replaced the broken hose bib. Was supposed to come back out and finish other work I have already paid him for but he has not returned my phone calls.

I like them. The young man that came here was very polite and very helpful. I thought we had a plumbing leak under the house and we didn't. He went under and fought black widows and some scorpions. We live in the desert, we have a lot of scorpions and black widows. Pricing was really fair. I really was impressed with the company. I'm hard to deal with so they did well.

My air conditioner stopped working due to a defective starting capacitor. The cooling fan wouldn't start on its own but would if manually spun, a sure and positive sign of a starting capacitor failure.. I know that because I am a former AC tech, now handicapped and unable to work on it myself but knowing what it takes to fix it, a $25 capacitor and 5-10 minutes of work. I called Paul's, told them the problem and that it was minor and they sent out a tech the next day. He looked at it, said I was correct as to the cause and the repair and looked at his printed price list: $273 to replace. I said that was outrageous for ten minutes of work and he agreed but said he couldn't deviate from the schedule without permission and his boss was out of town but he would talk to him when he got back since $273 was too much for his 15 minutes at my house, the bulk of that taken up in the discussion of the bill. End of story, no callback, "the price is our standard and will stand". I then called two other AC shops and asked what they would have charged in the circumstance. $125 and $100 and my prior diagnosis was unnecessary to a low bill, this is a well known and easy repair. I made a mistake in trusting that Paul's would charge based on time and difficulty and a fair profit, I can only warn others not to do the same. There are more reasonable repairmen out there, look for them and save.

Called them to come out in December of 2012 to check out our radiant heater after having a CO alarm on a Sunday after the fire department and gas company came out to investigate. The person from Paul's who came out first said everything was okay and I was charged ~$250 for the "service". The local gas company person returned and said we definitely still had a significant problem as his sensors showed. I called Paul's back and they sent out a different technician (James) who did identify the problem. They were unable to fix the problem in our schedule, so had to later contact them to resolve. After about two months of waiting after recontacting them, they did finally get the parts and then set up the install. James fixed it and it does seem to be working properly at this time.
Description of Work: Fixed our radiant heater main boiler. Needed new gaskets to stop CO leak and to fix the ex.

charged for the job they came un
Description of Work: We called Paul's Plumbing to remove a broken and misaligned screw on our garbage disposer, causing a leak. This information was given to Paul's Plumbing before they came out. They looked at it, said the screw was broken and that they would have to go back to the shop to get a screw kit. That would be another $39 house call. We called the office to complain that the guys that came out to the house were not prepared to do the job they were hired to do. We didn't think it was fair to be charged for the house call they came unprepared for. Further, they tried to sell us an offbrand garbage disposer with no information as to relative quality in comparison to the one we have - or comparing the two on the truck to each other. On the upside, while the office person refused to refund our money, she was courteous in her refusal. That's the only good thing I can say about Paul's Plumbing. Stay away from these guys - what a waste of time and money. After this experience, I used Angie's List and found Allen Plumbing with their 117 A ratings. They're coming over this afternoon. Stay tuned!

We bought an older manufactured home and expected extensive work on several items, including replacing all cold and hot water lines. Came quickly to give an estimate, the guy seemed good and professional, clearly the most expensive estimate, but we negotiated a lower price. Still the most expensive, but also seemed to be the most professional. As agreed, the tech arrive on the following Monday, and supposed to complete by Wednesday...Tuesday mortning no tech show up, and no one call, so after a while I call them and get some excuses that the tech did not show up for work, and after some discussion, they agree to send another tech.He arrive and get started, and also disclose that the original tech was fired. On Thursday, we have to go out of town for the weekend, and the plumbing is supposed to be done on our return on Sunday... Sunday afternoon, we stop by the house....The handle for the new shower faucet is on the floor in the bathroom, hot and cold water lines are wrong on another bathroom faucet, no hot water at the kitchen sink, and the diswasher and fridge don't even have a water line. Monday morning I call the company, and they welcome me back and tell me they are all done and expect the second check.. Today, Friday, the work is still not completed, the job is not to code and I am waiting to hear back from the Manufactured Housing Division inspector. This an ongoing nightmare, and have delayed our moving in and have added expenses not anticipated. Will update whne the inspector have been here

I called the company to request an estimate on fixing a leak at the valve where my sprinkler system turns on. I spoke with the company on the phone a total of three times prior to the work being done, and each time, I indicated that the problem was with the sprinkler system, never the main on/off valve to the house (they are within close proximity to each other in my back yard). Unfortunately, I had to be at work when they came out to do the work, but my roommate was home, and she knew where the problem was (it was pretty obvious... when one turned the valve on for the sprinkler system, the tube surrounding the valve filled up with water immediately). We agreed on the price for the work to be done and scheduled a date and time to have it done. Once again, I had to be at work and my roommate was home to meet the plumber and pay him when the job was done. Before the plumber began his work, he had some questions which my roommate didn't feel comfortable trying to answer, so she called me at work and put the plumber on the phone with me. I answered his questions, AGAIN telling him that the problem was with the sprinkler system valve. I never once in all my conversations with anyone at this company said there was anything wrong with the main valve going into the house. My roommate called me when the plumber was done and told me that we were not to try to turn on the water until the next day so that whatever he used could completely dry and "set." So I did not do anything with it until the following evening after I got home from work. I went out and turned on the valve for the sprinkler system, and to my dismay, it immediately filled up with water, just as it had been doing. I had to wait until the following morning to contact the company. I wasn't able to speak with the plumber who actually did the work, but spoke with a gentleman who identified himself as the plumber's supervisor. I explained to him what the problem was. He informed me that his plumber did, in fact, fix a leak, in the main water valve for the house. I told him that, to my knowledge, there was no leak there and that I had been very specific with everyone I spoke with, including the plumber on the day of the "repair," that the issue was with the sprinkler system. The man I spoke with continued to insist that his plumber had repaired a leak and that he would be happy to send him back out to fix the "other" leak I was describing, and that I could pay another $450 for that. I was, quite honestly, dumbfounded at his response. I asked him if it was unreasonable for me to assume that a "professional" plumber could ascertain the difference between the main water valve to the house and the one for the sprinkler system. He told me that my roommate had pointed out the main water valve when the plumber asked where the problem was. (Lesson #1: Never allow someone else to be home to handle things like this... take the time off work so you know exactly what is said and done.) I again reminded him that at no point did I ever mention anything other than a problem with the serprinkler system valve. Over the course of a couple of days, I had more conversations with this supervisor. He had the gall to offer to do the job at a discount. I told him no, that I wasn't going to pay a penny more because they had not done the job I hired them to do. He insisted I had a leak that they had fixed. My response was, if there was a leak where he said there was, why was it bone dry in that area, and why was there no indication of a leak reflected on my water bill? Doesn't it make sense that if there truly was a leak somewhere other than the sprinkler system, wouldn't that show as an increased amount on my water bill? At one point, the gentleman I was speaking with told me I was being completely unreasonable because I wouldn't accept his offer of doing the job at a discount. After getting nowhere on the phone, I contacted the BBB, and they suggested I write a letter to the owner of the business before I file a complaint with them. They gave me his information and I immediately fired off a two-page letter to him, explaining exactly what had transpired and exactly what my position was, i.e., I was not going to pay a dime more for them to fix the problem for which I had hired them. I sent the letter certified. I received a phone call from the same gentleman who told me I was being "unreasonable" a couple of days later, asking me if they could come out and fix the leak in the sprinkler system at no additional charge to me. He told me I didn't need to be home, as long as I "trusted" them to go into my back yard. I told him I was fine with that. They had it fixed within a couple of days and did a good job. They cleaned up after themselves and I was very happy with the final result. It was just very stressful and took a good amount of my time fighting it out with them, and had I not contacted the BBB and written the letter, I would not have gotten the job done without paying extra, or hiring another plumber, which, again, would have cost me more money. There is no way I would ever consider using this company again as I shouldn't have had to go through so much to get the job done right, and I still believe they were being dishonest about this supposed "leak" they "fixed" the first time they came out. Once again, there was no change in my water bill either before or after they fixed the supposed leak in the main line. I believe the plumber they sent out, whom the supervisor told me was one of their best plumbers, was dishonest about doing any work and charged me for digging a hole and that was it.

The company was only here about 2 hours each visit over over 5 days. First hole was dug next to my house about 3 feet deep and 4 feet wide. It filled up with water. Day 2 another hole was dug at the property line about 60 feet away and it was dry. Day 3 they removed an old shut off from the second hole and filled it in. Monday, day 4, cut the concrete next to house and dug another 3 or 4 foot hole. That took 2.5 hours. They started at 8 AM and left at 10:30. All the time the water was off. Next guy shows up at 12 noon and replaces valves and fixes leak. Here about an hour. Turns water off and leaves. Day 5 concrete company returns, fills hole, packs dirt and returns later in the day to replace concrete. I was told by the owner of the plumbing company, I called him today to compain about the bill, that the concrete company charged them 1000 dollars?
Description of Work: Called company because I had a water leak. Company came and first estimated job at over 4000 dollars. I asked if there wasn't a way to locate the leak istead of digging entire area. I was first told no. After digging two large holes over 2 days still could not locate leak. At this point I had spent around 1000 dollars. I then called another plumbing company and they suggested I call a Leak Locator. I did and they located the leak which was about 6 inches beyond the first hole. The contractor then removed a 4x 4 section of contrete and repaired. Total man hours for plumber about 8, contrete company about 3.5. Total parts around 100. I paid the locator out of pocket 170.00. Total bill from the plumber 2249.00. Charges equal about 200 per hour. It was suggested to me that this company might work on commission.
