The service technician was professional and extremely competent. While flushing the water heater, he found that the anode rod was covered with calcium and needed to be replaced. He replaced the anode rod while he was at our home. We also had a toilet that was not flushing properly. Using a hand auger, he cleared the toilet line so that it flushed properly. Benjamin Franklin charged a service charge for coming to our home. It was $59. It seems a bit steep for just showing up at your home.

The work went well. Keith and his guy worked fast with quality work. The water filter system he recommended does a very good job of filtering the well water.

Went well but was charged $100 for service and that was with their membership contract.

During the extensive inspection and water heater flush, the technician (Kieth) identified a vast number of issues with my water heater that we were not aware of. It would be easy to think that he was trying to sell me extra services, except that he took to time to clearly explain all of the things as they were, and how they should be, and clearly pointed out all of the areas that our water heater was falling behind in. Many of the things he showed us explained some of the challenges that we were experiencing which caused us to order the service in the first place. Despite our 20 year old water heater still functioning, it was clear that we needed to replace it before something catastrophic happened. We were able to go over our options and schedule the install of the new water heater the very next day. The new water heater with all the services, extended warranties and parts, cost us around $1,200. Although this was an unexpected cost, the performance and function of our new water heater is well worth it. Kieth was very professional and very friendly. He even installed our new garbage disposal during this same service. Benjamin Franklin might be pricey (I have no good frame of reference), but the service from Kieth was outstanding.

Purchased the $49 for $150 credit and thought I can use the credit to fix a leaking faucet. But the $150 is not enough to replace one bathroom sink faucet! It costs more than $200 for just the labor- if I provide all the materials including a new faucet. Everything seems over priced. And you will need to buy their membership to make it a little(not much) cheaper. Basically, for the deal, I got a inspection on my water system, a water heater flush, and two bottles of drain opener to use up the credit. The plumber was professional, on time, and helpful with questions. A thumb up for the plumber, but the deal itself is just a waste of time.

I have used Benjamin Franklin plumbing multiple times now and I would give them 5\5 stars for the plumber James, and 2\5 stars for the plumber Tom. As such I am giving them a 4/5 stars, but ask for James by name when you schedule your appointment. After looking around for a plumber to do some projects for me, I settled on Ben Franklin?s because they had a decent Angie?s list deal, they said they had flat rates, and I had to start somewhere. The first job I had them do was add a shutoff valve under the house since the only other one was the main and the shutoff and drain valve was frozen open. James was the plumber who showed up initially for the job, and was about 1 hour late. He apologized profusely, provided a $150 credit (based on their punctual promise) and got to work investigating the jobs I wanted done and to provide a price quote. They quoted $249.00 to add the shutoff valve and $296.00 to fix and install a freeze proof hose bib. After stating that I would do just the first quoted job for now, he got ready to perform the work. However, after realizing that the house was on the Gardnerville Town company water system, he said that I would need to get the town to shut it off as they have had issues with them previously. Since I didn?t have the tools to shut it off myself, I agreed and we scheduled for the next day. James arrived again the next day and quickly got ready to perform the work and the job was done quickly. He added a shark-bite ¾ shutoff valve to the line and warranted the work for 2 years. The valve worked and there have been no leaks. Since they had done a good job for this, I called them again in a few weeks to have them give me a price for some other work, do a drain cleaning, and add a drain for my water softener. James arrived on time and provide me a quote to completely re-plumb the underside (as it was badly corroded), add a drain for the softener, and to install pex for just part of the house. After getting the quotes, having the drains cleaned, and thinking about the options, we scheduled to be back in a week to have the drain added for the softener. The quote for the re-plumbing was also warranted for 20 years, which is great. They also discovered that my drain to the city was being squished and would probably last another 2-3 years; He estimated about $2,500 for this fix; and could be done without digging up the ground. When the time came to get the drain for the water softener in, a different plumber Tom arrived. Tom had no clue what job he was here for. I informed him he was going to add a drain to the garage for the water softener. It was about 8 feet of pipe to run, and based on a James?s knowledge of the plumbing I let Tom know that James suggested running it to the wall, transitioning to galvanized (per code to run pipe through a firewall), then back to a nib so that the water softener could be hooked up (similar to how a drain in a kitchen sink would work). Tom then went to explain that all that work to add a galvanized pipe through the wall was unnecessary and that a plastic pipe through the wall was fine. He was going to add a fire resistant caulk around it and call it good. Since he was a plumber of the same company and would warrant the work, I agreed. Although I did debate calling the company to see if this was correct per code, as it James had said code did not allow running a plastic pipe through the firewall into the garage. After crawling under the house Tom left to head back to Carson to get the parts that he didn?t have. Probably due to him now knowing what the job was, and this pushed the work back another 1-2 hours as he got parts. Once he arrived back, he was quick to complain about how he was not being paid enough for his work and was going to call the company to ask for more money to do the job. I counted at least 8 times of him telling me (the customer) that he was not getting paid enough. This does not leave a good impression on the customer. Once he finished the job, he said that water could be run though it in about 20 minutes and everything should be good. He took payment based on the previously agreed upon rate and left. Unfortunately he did not have change for the job and we agreed to instead apply the extra as a credit to my account for a future job. The plastic pipe he pulled into the garage he glued a cap onto, rather than putting the threaded screw like a kitchen sink, which will require me to get another plumber out to finish the job, which is not what James had said would be done. I had expected a threaded end with a threaded cap so I could remove it without cutting the pipe. I crawled under the house to look at his work after and it looked decent, I am not sure it had the required 1/4inch per foot slope, but I assume as a license plumber he did it correctly. It just didn?t look like it, but I?m not a license plumber. While Tom was at the place I also asked him to give me a quote to add a gas line for a stove. He planned to use flexible pipe about 9 ft worth, and would charge me ~$1,200 to do the job. After looking around I found two other plumbers that would charge about 1/3 that for the work; one doing flexible pipe, and the other using rigid black steel. This vastly overpriced work, along with Tom?s comments and attitude has made me look elsewhere for the time being. All in all, my experience with Ben Franklin Plumbing had been excellent (considering I called them back for multiple jobs) however this last job left a bad impression and I called out a different plumbing service for the next two jobs that I needed done. Scheduling with Ben Franklin was about as expected for a service run company where jobs can (and tend) to run late. After a few appointments, we settled on having the plumber call when he was 30 minutes out instead of having me sit at home waiting, which worked nicely. While this is completely my option, if you plan to use Ben Franklin, I would ask for James by name to do your plumbing. He is knowledgeable, his work was top line, and he works very hard to ensure the customers are happy with what they are getting. He also takes the time to explain all the work and why things are done certain ways. My impression was that while James is trying to pull in new customers and keep them, Tom was trying to drive them away. If I go back to do work with them, which I probably do to use my cash account credit used, I would only ask for James to do to the work and would decline Tom if he showed up; even if this pushed the job back a while.

They were supposed to come between 4-6 last weekend. They called at 5:30 and said they couldn't come. They said they would come between 8-12 today and I would be the first customer of the day and didn't get here til 10. He charged me 59.99 for his service call. I purchased a deal for 49.00 for 150.00 worth of work. He wanted to charge me 249.00 for a half hours worth of work. Don't use this guy! They are ripping people off!

He screw on a facet. I could have done that in 10 mins. myself. THAT'S IT!

Get work... informative and helpful

I wasn't there so I don't know. Nor do I remember the date, so I just picked one. I thought I already responded to this review at the time of service. I am not sure why I being asked to do it again. I don't even own this rental any more.

I bought a brand new Waste King garbage disposal unit and asked for it to be installed. The plumber said the unit wouldn't work with my sink and recommended an InSink one. We said we were going to buy an InSink one and he said he would return the next day to install it. He was late the next day to start with. Since the InSink one was brand new it didn't have the power cord attached so the plumber pried open the Waste King and use the cord there, destroyed the bottom plastic piece of a Brand New Waste King. The InSink one was installed properly and clean but it was very hard for us to return the WasteKing one because it was partially destroyed.

All aspects of the service were very good, prompt, professional and polite. But the price was significantly higher than I would have expected or I have paid in the past for plumbing services. The overall cost came out to over $150/hr even with a discount. The cost for installing the disposal alone was more than double what it would have cost if I had gotten it through Lowes (where I bought the disposal. If you don't mind paying up (way up) for high quality, then use Benjamin Franklin. Otherwise find a more reasonably priced plumber with good references.

Plumber arrived on time, we went over possible replacement faucets and he went back to shop to get the model I wanted. He came back within an hour or so and installed the new faucet. Unfortunately, he didn't have a length of 3/4" hose with which to flush our the hot water line which is partially clogged with rust, etc., so he was unable to perform that part of the requested service and I still have low hot water pressure in the kitchen.

Kyle was the person that provided the service. He was very professional, timely and the quality of his work was superb.

A gentleman named Robert did the job, and he was prompt, courteous and competent. Because I haven't had the need to hire a plumber before, I was a bit taken-back by the cost, but I'm sure it's consistent with the adage of getting what we pay for. In any event, I will not hesitate to recommend BF Plumbing should anyone inquire about needing professional plumbing services.

There were some extra charges that I was not willing to pay. I thought it would all be handled with the $150 credit that I had, so I decided not to work with the provider.

It all went well, over a 2 day period on Feb 4 and 5. Keith and Manual worked very hard, and took very good care of us. Thanks!

The plumber was very patient while my husband kept having to call me to ask questions. He was friendly and professional.

The service turned out well. The plumber was really efficient and friendly. He did good work and was very helpful.

I bought an Angie's List coupon on Monday morning and was informed that I would get a call within two days for scheduling. The call came in about an hour later and the work was scheduled for Monday afternoon between 2 and 6. The plumber, Robert, arrived about 3 PM and surveyed the issue. He did not have the necessary part on his truck so had to leave and go to his supplier to pick it up. He was gone about an hour and returned with the right part. The work took a little over an hour and he was very thorough and competent. I am very pleased with the whole experience. Costs of hiring people in the trades is always a shock but I think I got what I paid for and all in the same day!

The guy who came out did not seem very knowledgeable and didn't provide me any options. I did not feel comfortable with working with them.
