Please use our awful and continuing experience from h*** as a bellwether before you hire this company for ANYTHING. In summary (of our still on going and over a year long struggle with them) we had called for a quote on siding for the west wall of our house. A salesman came, measured the wall and convinced us to go with a special coating that will help protect from further weather damage. We paid the $5000 deposit of the full $10,000 price. Then we waited. Weeks and months went by. Every excuse was throw at us as to why the job had not been started, the weather, short staffing, lack of communication and on it went. Finally they sent a gentleman over to color match our paint. He chunked parts of our walls off in order to get paint samples, he didn't even do it in areas where there would be the new coating. Why a paint matching app wasn't used is beyond me, now we have chunks out of our walls. After that again nothing, no start date, no communication, no updates. Then we received a call from someone from the company telling us the salesman who quoted us was wrong. We needed to pay thousands more for the job to be done due to the size of the wall, that was measured and figured during our first quote. They said the salesman was an idiot and didn't know what he was doing but now this was our problem due to the wall size. We called back after some thought on the matter and said we would like to cancel the job altogether and get our deposit back. Then we were passed from person to person and finally after a struggle was put through to the owner/manager who literally said she could not comment on our request to cancel the job because she had no idea what was going on and didn't understand the situation. We have been back and forth with her for weeks. On a Wednesday when we managed to get a hold of her she said work on our job was to begin on Thursday. We had not recieved one email or phone message saying that was happening. Funnily enough that day 2 buckets of paint and 2 paint cans were dropped at our house. Nothing more, no explinations, just a paint drive by. We again asserted that we do not want the wall done by this company and we would like our money back. The manager/owner then snipped that due to our contract we would be giving up our deposit. Which I understand contracts are serious but in considering no work has been done in over a year, a mis-handeled quote, asking for more money and sitting on our deposit while no work has taken place should give us some leway points as to why we want our deposit back. This has been a nightmare of waiting, arguing, dealing with horrendous and rude customer service and now blatant theivery. We are now having to get the contractors board involved and are having to take legal action to get our deposit back. PLEASE LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKE. This company is disorganized, poorly run, and completely inept. Never ever use them for anything unless you would like to end up screwed over in the end.

Description of Work: We requested a quote for the house coating for our stucco house, a detached garage and a well house that both have wood siding. The total quote was for more than $30,000 and $2,890 for just the garage and well house. We said we would like to do the garage and well house only. It took close to a week for the company to tell us it was too small of a job for them.

It was pretty good, it sounded like it was a little high price but they did good work. They were clean, professional and we have had no difficulty of any kind with the installation. It was $700 per window. It was a kitchen window, one on the west and one on east side and with neither window have we had any difficulties what so ever. They will try and get in touch with you to find out if there are more installations that they can do for you but the work was all done. The men who were installed it were courteous and clean and they got their stuff done. They were on time.
Description of Work: They installed two windows and took out the old ones. These were plastic certainly not aluminum and this was a double pane installation.

cont. from above: I reminded him that my house had vaulted ceilings. He told me that I was wrong…. When I convinced him that my house had vaulted ceilings, the insulation was off the table and the price immediately dropped $1,000.… BE AWARE: when one gets a quote AT YOUR HOME, you are protected by a law regarding that quote. In a store, the rules change. I said I'd think about it and left. When I arrived home, I found a message on my answering machine left by a woman from Debell telling me that I was late for my appointment. The call came while I was physically IN THE STORE. Then I got a second call from her. I told her we'd spoken just 30 minutes earlier at the store….. Then the calls kept coming. I called them once to ask 2 questions: 1) was there a warranty? Yes, on parts only. If something broke, the manufacturer would send the replacement parts, BUT one would have to buy a labor warranty- I don't recall the exact amount, but it may have been $1,000. 2) was financing available? Yes, for a price. Others offered 0% for the first year, but not Debell So, the original estimate didn't include much and the price kept rising. It was too bad, because I really liked the windows. I made my decision to purchase windows elsewhere, but continued receiving calls from Debell at which time I told them I'd purchased windows elsewhere. The frequency of the calls slowed down, but 2 years later, they are still calling, hence the date of and quot;last contactand quot;.
Description of Work: I called Debell to get an estimate for windows. The man came on time, but only to measure, not to offer a price. I had to make an appointment to go to the store for that. At the store, the wheeling & dealing started. I was shown a demo on insulation. Then the windows. The windows were good. Then, before giving me a quote, he asked me what other companies had bid & what their bids were. I gave him one # & then he gave me a verbal quote, which was just a bit less & with full ceiling insulation included…. cont. below

We worked with this contractor about six years ago when we had them install six new windows in our old brick house in sw Reno. We wanted to complete the job and add the remaining eight windows. DeBell's bid was twice as much as the one we accepted and that contractor has an excellent window product and did an outstanding job of installation. Remember to get more than one bid!

They were horrible. We had a lot of problems from them. It took forever to get the door. They promised to put one of those little teeth window things in so you could see who's out there but they never did that. The door is fine but it took months and we have to fight with them to get it. We never get the teeth window thing. I wouldn't use them again.

(This is the 3rd time I have written this, btw. Why won't you just paste the review?) Again, I praise the workers. They did their job, put in the windows and then told us a receipt would come by email. We are still waiting for paperwork, and receipts that say we are paid in full. It is the first week of May, now and no paperwork from DeBell Windows. I have called again and again, but there is always an excuse for why something is the way it is. Hopeless company with good workers. gh
Description of Work: Please note: We had 4 windows installed. That was at the end of March. It is now the end of April. WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR A RECEIPT !!!! I called in April and was told that the owner was sick. (So what has that to do with sending a receipt?) The workers when they finished said that we would be emailed a receipt/ That never happened and st5ill has not happened. Oh, and their fifty year guarentee???? Well, it is not what was implied. You have to go to their website and see for yourself.. Yes, the windows appear to be of good quality. The paperwork involved is a joke. It is April 29th and still no paperwork, saying I have paid them. AVOID DEBELL WINDOWS AT ALL COSTS!!! gEORGIA HEDRICK gOLDEN VALLEY nv

I signed up for a free home demo at the Rib Cookoff in Reno. Several weeks later, they contacted me to do the demo. I said sure and took off work to be here for it as they ONLY come to Carson City once a week. 2 people showed up, 1 to do the demo and the other to have me sign sheet after sheet of paper. I was told that all this paper I was signing was to say that they came out and showed me all the products I was interested in and so they could get paid for doing the demo. They slipped in a contract to replace 2 windows and a door into all the signing. The demo was occurring to one side of me and the signing to the other so I lost track of what I was signing and they seemed in a hurry. Boy, I should have NEVER signed up for a demo, and I NEVER will again. Several months later, I got called by them and told the windows and door were ordered. I asked what they meant and they said I signed a contract to have them do this work. I tried to put the brakes on this right there but they said I signed a contract and would pursue legal action if I tried to back out now. I told them I didn't have the money and they said they that that was okay they would refer me to lender. I finally told them I would find the money somewhere and withdrew it from my retirement account. Then, two months later, I was told the product was in and ready to install and they wanted to do it right away. Well, this was late February and the temps here were in the teens and didn't want the whole inside of the house exposed to those temps all day, as this was an all day install. They harassed me over the next few weeks and finally broke me down on the install to be done in late April. The day of the install, was cold and stormy. While they installed the windows, my young son and I went someplace warm to wait. We came back late in the afternoon and they were finishing up. After the installers left, I turned my heat on and waited hours for my furnace to warm the house back up. They should do this stuff when the weather is mild, versus hounding people to get it done right away. Well, they didn't have the paint for the trim, so I ended up painting the trim as they didn't call me back with an expected time to come back by and paint it till after I painted it. And since then, the door frame has warped into a curly and quot;Qand quot; pointing out into the yard. The products, from Barricade, are substandard, didn't perform as promised, and I will NEVER use them again. As for DeBell, they are a bunch of lying, thieving cheats who are untrustworthy in the least. I don't recommend these people to my worst enemy let alone my friends. I did report them to the BBB, but it was closed when DeBell told the BBB that I was just and irate customer. Any calls I have received from them since the install, which I have repeatedly told them to STOP calling me, they have INSISTED on arguing with me. Customer service is non-existent. That is why they got the grade of and quot;Fand quot; from me.
Description of Work: I had 2 windows installed. 1 large living room window, approx 108" long by 48" high, 1 garden style kitchen window, and the front door.

The entire redo took one week. The workers were here when they said they would be. The job was completed to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: The latest service we have had from DeBell is redoing our master bath with a jacuzzi walk in tub. This required relocating the toilet, repainting the bathroom and replacing the door with a wider door. The Shower and wall surrounding had to be removed first, and new flooring was installed. In 2011 DeBell replaced the roofing on our house with a metal roof. We went to DeBell because we liked the thriple pane windows they had put in in 2000. We have had a good experience with everything DeBell has done for us.

Description of Work: In June of 2010 DeBell Home Improvement Center installed the Bristol double-pane beveled patio door and in October 2010 they installed the Bristol triple-pane windows in my home in Elko, Nevada. The quality of these products is outstanding. Bill D'Andrea, the owner of the company, told me he went all over the country to find a window/patio door that would meet his expectations. These windows are made in Pennsylvania and they are exceptional. The installers are experts in this field since they have worked for DeBell for years. The windows went in smoothly and correctly. They even cleaned the areas with a vacuum cleaner and washed all the windows. Before they left, they demonstrated how to open and close the windows for cleaning and then gave me the opportunity to have a hands-on experience opening and closing them so I would know how to do it. They were respectful, polite and professional. What has impressed me the most about this company is their customer service. Phone calls are made to schedue a date they would be in the Elko area and then a window of time is given for the appointment. If there is a problem with the time frame on the day of service, they call to adjust the time and they are always there when they say they will be. All of DeBell's products come with a warranty and it is honored. I did have an issue with the film failing in my patio doors and they were replaced in a timely fashion with no hassel. Bill D'Andrea makes sure all his customers are satisfied! I would highly recommend DeBell Home Improvement Center for any services they offer. You won't be disappointed.

After signing up for a free estimate at the Rib Cook-off, we had a salesman come to our office and give us a estimate to replace the siding. We signed a contract that day with a deposit. Three weeks later a man from Debell came out and remeasured. Six weeks later and it had not been installed. The seventh week, after I had called twice, we got a call back saying they are refunding our money because the manufacturer says it will cost more money. I asked Michael how much more would it cost and he didn't know but would refund our money. At this time we have not received our refund. Not a Happy Ending

In September, 2005, when we first met with Paul and Robert of DeBell Windows, we were impressed with their sales pitch and with the perceived quality of their product. The windows sounded particularly ideal for us because we live on a busy street and liked that these triple pane Barricade windows would give us more protection from "street noise". After several months and a few delays, the initial installation was finally completed and went okay. The installer failed to arrive with the hardware which required another service call and installation, but the doors accomplished our desired goal of noise abatement, so all's well that ends well. Or so we thought. Late last summer (five years after installing the patio doors), 3 of the 4 glass doors failed, with moisture appearing inside the triple panes. These windows failed within days of each other. We called DeBell about the problem and they sent someone out to inspect the damage. DeBell said they would have to order new doors and that it would take about 3 months to reinstall. So far, so good. We were then informed by DeBell that there would be a $100 charge to install the replacement doors. I questioned this charge as there was no mention of this on the contract we had signed. That seemed odd to me and I was informed that we had subsequently been sent a letter regarding their policy. I immediately went to my files and found no such letter. It was clear that the referenced letter had never been sent to us. (I question the legality of this practice, but nonetheless, we agreed to pay the $100 fee.) So, back in late September, 2010, we were told the new doors were ordered and we could expect to have them installed before we left the area for an extended period of time in late December. Well, unfortunately (although not surprisingly), the doors WEREN'T ordered and the installation was delayed until our return, which brings us to where we are now. On April 27, 2011, the installer showed up with instructions to charge us $100 PER HOUR for installing the new doors, which took him three hours. Keep in mind that we had paid over $6,000 for these doors, which carry a 50-yr. warranty, barely five years ago. (Note: The manufacturer's 50-yr warranty is restricted to a one-time only transfer of ownership.) Ultimately, we did not end up paying $100 per hour, as the owner finally agreed to charge us only the fee of $100 (total) that we had been quoted back in September, 2010. However, this whole situation concerns us a great deal as we have very little confidence that these patio doors will not fail again. Who knows what DeBell will decide to charge us to replace the doors if they fail in another five or ten years from now? We were told that the doors failed because the seals on the glass windows were bad. (This defect was easily discernible when the installer showed us what the seals should look like.) That being the case, doesn't that sound like a factory problem? And perhaps DeBell should be reimbursed for their time, but wouldn't it be more appropriate for the supplier to incur that cost, as they manufactured the faulty doors? Additionally, does DeBell bear no responsibility for inspecting the windows they order to ensure that they are not arriving from the factory damaged and that they DO NOT INSTALL defective windows in the first place? Is it really appropriate, or professional, to charge your customers for trusting that the product they purchased from you will perform to the standards you have represented in the sales pitch?? While we had originally received a bid to purchase all of the windows for our home from DeBell, we will not EVER consider using them again. We, also, were told, IN WRITING, that we would be entitled to a $1500 tax credit for purchasing the windows, which we later discovered was untrue. It seems that these people will say anything to make a sale. Over the past five years, DeBell has continually phoned us (almost to the point of harrasment) to set up appointments to go over our current needs, and has then consistently failed to show up or call to cancel. I don't know exactly what is wrong with the management at DeBell, although I have heard rumors, but this has been one of the worst experiences we've had with any contractor in Reno. For us, this company's management lacks the honesty, integrity and professionalism we look for in choosing service providers.

We are happy to report that our manufacturer stands behind their lifetime warranty, and did remake the glass and ship it free of charge. Unlike a cheaper window manufacturer who might be out of business, where the homeowner's would have had to purchase brand new products. In the window industry there are two warranties. First, the manufacturer's. Second, the labor service warranty. All replacement parts are free and labor to install those parts has always been $100/hr, which is a very minimum service charge.

Description of Work: DeBell put in windows for our house for 23,000.00 3 years ago. There were several things that needed fixing and they did get them done in the first few months. We have a 100% guarantee on all parts, which is why we were willing to pay so much for the windows. Six days ago, a window stuck and I couldn't get it to close. I called Debell and they said they would get back to me within 48 hours just to schedule an appointment to fix it. FIVE days later, a person from DeBell left a mesage on my phone while I was working, asking if they could come the next day. I didn't see the message until this morning. I called them to tell them that nobody would be home today, but I would be off tomorrow. They said they would call me back to tell me if they could come tomorrow....still no return call. If we didn't have the guarantee with this company there is NO WAY I would ever call them again. ---Update: I thought I would add to my previous report. Though scheduling was a nightmare, when they DID come, they were thorough, meticulously tidy, and didn't leave until they had the problem fixed.

The crew arrived on time and did an excellent job. There was no damage while they were removing the old windows and installing the new ones. They kept the house and yard fairly clean during the job and cleaned up before they left. If I had more windows to install I would definitely buy these windows from this company.
Description of Work: New replacement windows installed.

Description of Work: I have a Manufactured Home with 7 windows. The Salesman painted rosey pictures of high efficiency (triple paned) windows with savings from monthly bills for usage and government energy subsidies ($1500) for installation. At it turned out, my monthly utility costs are HIGHER and I don't qualify for the energy tax write-off. The "guarenteed" operating savings of 47% is not from DeBell but from the window supplier and is for a miniscule $500. if that saving is not realized. The Salesman's claim was that the installers were "men of character, certified, licensed and dependable". When a complaint was sent to them it took 2 weeks before they responded in any way; when I requested verification of the installers because of problems with the windows & mildew, they first sent me the Installation Managers certs when he wasn't even there, then grudgingly sent me a cert on one of the installers that was undated, (the other had apparently been let go). The acid test will be if they process the $500. refund for which I'm not eligible until 1 year after installation. This apparently is a door-to-door scam on older folks which I fell for hook, line, and sinker. Once they have your money, good luck.

DeBell Window Systems, Inc are licensed contractors since 1990. Licence number 31905b. We have installed thousands of jobs in the Northern Nevada area. However, we do not manufacture windows. We simply install them. Any and all discrepancies you may have should be directed to the manufacturer on their website address or by telephone. Their number is 1-724-639-3551.

The sales presentation is fairly high pressure (discounted price is only good for today scenario), but the sales presentation was very thorough and impressive. We were concerned about the house exterior (just painted it 6 months prior) and their installation does not destroy any of the exterior molding. All 14 windows were installed in two days (single level house) by a very friendly and professional crew. (They are also bonded). It was in the early spring and was unusually cold, so the crew was nice enough to replace only a couple of windows at a time to reduce the chill factor. Some issues arose after the installation (a couple of the vinyl pieces around the lock mechanism had hairline cracks. It took a couple weeks to get the parts and have them installed, but it was a cosmetic issue, not functional. About two weeks after installation one of the inside panes cracked on one window. We told them which window, they ordered a complete replacement window section, and installed it within two weeks at no charge. We later had them come back for some minor adjustments at no charge. We are very happy with DeBell's service and product. A little pricey, but well worth it!
Description of Work: Replaced 14 windows with dual hung, triple pane, gas-filled vinyl windows. We had these windows in a previous house and loved them. They are the best windows on the market (as far as we are concerned). Our heating and cooling cost have dropped substantially, and cleaning and maintenance is super easy.
