+ -1 moreThe GFI was popping off in one of my bathrooms whenever it was rainy and windy. I explained the problem over the phone and the owner asked several questions relating to the circumstances. He then ventured some opinions as to what the problem was--the outdoor plug was connected to the indoor GFI and moisture was getting under the cover, causing the GFI to pop off. When he showed up (on time), he checked the outdoor plug, then checked the GFI. He suggested I caulk around the outdoor plug and replaced the GFI, explaining that they sometimes go bad and would cause it to pop off more often than needed. Everything was cleaned up nicely and away he went! He explained the situation easily and simply. He was on time, and wasted no time getting the job done. I understood what he did and why. That is always a plus--I was not left wondering if I really needed the work that was done.
Description of Work: Tested outdoor plug and indoor GFI, replaced GFI.

+ -1 moreOur appointment was set for 11:00 AM. Craig called around 9:00 indicating that he had finished with a job early and if we would mind if he arrived early. No problem there; I'm used to service people arriving LATE. When he arrived, I pointed out the problem with the GFCI. He asked how old the device was (15 years or more) and stated that it was probably just worn out. He replaced the outlet as well as another outlet elsewhere in the hosue that was loose. All of this was accomplished quickly (around 30 minutes) and in a cheerful, friendly and professional manner. After the job was finished, Craig asked where I had heard about his business. When I mentioned that I had found them on Angie's List, he applied a 10% discount to the $140 bill. WOW!
Description of Work: Analyzed problems with and replaced a GFCI outlet as well as an old standard outlet.

+ -1 moreOriginally I hired a so called "handyman" to do the work. He charged me $300 and just wired into the existing circuit. D C Electric showed up on time to bid on the work and explained to me what I needed done to accomplish what I wanted. I accepted their bid a few days later. Craig and Bruce showed up 1/2 hour before their scheduled appointment and started right to work. They tore out all the work my handman had done and started from scratch. They added a circuit to the garage for my three 4 plug gang boxes. Fixed the garage so I could control the lights without shutting off the freezer (the handyman hooked my freezer up to the lights so I had to run the lights to run the freezer). They installed a new circuit with an outside plug beside my garage, and they surge protected my whole house. I thought the price was a bit high, but obviously you get what you pay for. They left the job site clean. Craig explained everything to me. They gaurantee their work for 2 years and the surge protector protects and gaurantees all your electrical, including the appliances. I will call D C Electrical for all my future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Added an outside circuit and outlet beside my garage. Demolition to electrical work I paid $300 for to a handyman inside the garage. Added a circuit with three 4 outlet boxes in the garage. Surge protected my whole electrical service.

Description of Work: My wife and I moved from CT and recently bought a home in the Somersett area of Reno. Our inspection uncovered some electrical issues,(i.e. bad circuits breakers, faulty thermostat, ground faults and no lights on certain switches). We had some serious concerns. After replacing the breakers, the thermostat and fixing the faults, Craig and his helper throughly went through the house to make sure every switch worked. In addition, Craig also installed a surge suppressor. Craig eliminated all our concerns and are now very comfortable in our new home. I rank Craig in my top 3 of all the electricians that I've dealt with as far as personality, knowledge and professonalism. In the future, he will be my go to guy for all electrical issues. Greg C.

I was told that the issue sounded more like something that the power company was responsible for and that I should have them take a look first. I was asked to keep him informed of any and all updates and he assured me that if need be he would be at my house that same day to get things up and running. It turned out that the issue was in fact the responsibility of the power company. I am so glad that I called DC Electric, while many companies may have sent someone out and charged me just to find out they couldn't do anything, these guys gave me help and advice all for free and were genuinely interested in making sure things were set right in my home. I will certainly be using them for any and all electrical needs I have in the future.

Electrical our in that group.Our house still has a fuse box and we will be changing it to a circuit breaker. We will have Craig and his crew doing the job.
Description of Work: Craig was running late and called to apologize and rescheduled for the next morning. Him and his crew got here checked all the outlets and narrowed it down then fixed the problem.

+ -1 moreOverall, from the time I called Craig to the time he and his partner opened the electrical panel it was a fast and efficient job done with the confidence of knowledgeable professionals. I have nothing negative to say about the experience and would recommend this company without hesitation.
Description of Work: We were having problems with a circuit breaker tripping repeatedly, which started about 10 days before we decided to call an electrician. I used Angie's list and decided on DC Electrical, because they had over 30 reviews all of them rated the compnay very highly. I called the number provided and Criag called me back that night, scheduled for the next day, Friday, 6/1. They had a job or tweo ahead of my 10 am appointment, but when they were running late, he called and said it would be a little closer to 11 am. In my experience whenever you get an exact time, rather than a 4-hour window...is is a plus to me. Craig and his partner arrived a little before 11am, got right to the business...made sure all of the computers were turned off and proceeded to switch out a Arc protection breaker with a regular breaker...the arc breaker came with the new house and, accordsing to Craig, only really last about two years and when they start to go, you get the repeated tripping of the circuit breaker. We have had no futher problems since his visit. Craig and partner were very efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. We are new to Reno from Southern California, but we now have a reliable electrician that we will DEFINITELY use in the future and would strongly recommend to friends and neighbors.

The only thing is that the bid was done over the phone and that the owner couldn't remember the bid amount, so I would be sure to right this down. They cleaned up well after the job and removed the old fans as well. Overall very good experience and I would be sure to do business with them again.

+ 0 moreAfter receiving a bid from Craig which I felt was very fair, I asked him to schedule the soonest opening he had to do the work. His response was, "Will 9:00 am tomorrow morning work?" The crew arrived on time and finished the job quickly. Their work was first rate and, despite having to run wiring and install switches, the project looks as if the work was done at the time the home was built. As a bonus, they re-caulked around all of the exterior light fixtures and outlets around my home! These guys are great!
Description of Work: Craig and his partner installed coach lights to the exterior of our garage to light the driveway. It was necessary for them to run electrical connections to the place for the lights, as the house had not been perviously wired for these. Additionally, they installed a double switch inside the house to operate the exterior and inside garage lights.

+ -1 moreCraig and his assistant showed up promptly at the correct time, and went over with me what work was going to be done. Then Craig left his assistant here to work and ran to the store to buy some supplies. His assistant did a great job, and when he returned they finished everything up.
Description of Work: They installed a fastmac U-socket in the wall. I have an older house, and the existing socket was not larger enough, so they put another box in the wall near the previous one and transferred the electrical stuff over. I would have liked them to install a fancy fan/light switch in my bathroom but, because the switch box did not have a 'neutral' wire they would have had to get into the attic and run another wire. I chose not to actually do that at this time. They also added 2 sockets(actually finished up some wiring left over from the previous owner) in the garage and wired them up, as well as converted the garage door opener to use a closer socket, instead of using an extension cord to the wall.

Description of Work: I called Craig on a Monday mid morning and got an estimate for swapping out a ceiling fan we set an appointment for 1:30.....Craig and his Helper showed up Early and were ready to get right at it.....About halfway through the install Craig took a few minutes to talk with me about another prodject I have for the near future....The job took right around 45 minutes to complete and was done to the highest standards.....Thanks guys well done
