 + -1 moreI called this company with a very specific service in mind. If you are a complete novice and know nothing about your computer then he will be of help to you. He seems like nice person but $100 an hour for a guy who knows only the basics of computer operation is very pricey to me. He basically updated the software on my computer I.E. browser, Adobe, Java. He seems to know very little about the equipment side I.E.(Servers, Switches, Routers). Some of what he told be I have since found out to not be true after investigating.
Description of Work: I needed help with setting up external hard drive to be accessed by two computers.

 + -1 moreI was very nervous because I was so worried about my computer and having to hire a stranger to work on it. But from the moment he walked in, I knew I could trust Mark. Again, for seniors, this is so important because the one thing we learn as we get older is how many scams there are out there waiting for us. I just can't recommend Mark highly enough.
Description of Work: Based on angieslist ratings I made an app't with Mark Cobb, the owner of Computer Techs, to fix a very sluggish, almost unusable, laptop, transfer files from another computer, and set up a very complicated all-in-one printer. He arrived exactly on time and worked solidly for 2-1/2 hours, answering my questions during the entire time, and explaining everything to me. Here is an important point for seniors: Mark is quiet, soft spoken and calm - he is infinitely patient and very kind. He was able to do everything I asked of him, and more, within 2-1/2 hours. His original estimate was 2 hours, but that was before I asked him to set up the new printer and take the hard drives out of two old computers. Mark also gives one-on-one lessons, in addition to his computer newsletters which he sends via email. I scheduled a lesson with Mark for the following week. Before that date, I called Mark to ask about increasing the memory in my laptop. He determined what I needed, brought it with him and installed it when he arrived (ontime) on the 30th. He spent another 2 hours answering my questions and teaching me how to scan with the new printer, how to create new folders and files on my laptop and in general, taught me how it would be possible to create computer storage for the amount of paperwork I have to keep for my small property business. He charged me his regular hourly rate (75.00) plus aprx 50.00 for the 2 memory cards he installed. It was very fair. I give Mark the highest ratings possible and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

 + -1 moreThat guy was just super. They come to your house and they are very reasonably priced. If you mess up you can call them back and they will work with you over the phone and help you. He was great. He was on top of Angie's List, people were praising him so I called him up and I was very happy. I made out fliers out of the goodness of my heart for some friends who are always looking for someone to fix their computers. We were all wondering who we could get and we could trust without charging an arm and a leg. This guy was great. The price was really within the reason of reasonable. He took about an hour at the house straightening out the problems and he explained the errors and he told me I needed to defragment my computer. He told me it would take about two days and he was right. He showed me where to go, how to do things and how to make it better. I thought $75 was not bad at all. Other places charge you $150 just to come to your house and then they start on your computer. This guy was very sensible. I called him when I had issues and he helped me to know how to make it go away. They are available, understandable and very reasonably priced. They back up what they've done. Basically, they walk on water. They are real people, not a big corporation and he was there the next day after I called. I will use him again and again.
Description of Work: Computer Techs fixed my computer. I was having a lot of messages pop up and I couldn't understand how to make them go away and he made them go away. I was also having trouble getting into programs that I normally get into and he showed me how I could get into them when I was having those problems.

 + -1 moreI called Computer Techs on Monday Jan 25. Ron Seagraves was at my house within 30 minutes to pick up my PC. He performed his magic and returned my PC on Friday the 29th. I would have been sooner but I had conflicts in receiving it at home. He did a supurb job. Viruses are gone and pop ups are gone.
Description of Work: My PC was infected with fake viruses, worms, etc. causing pop up windows every 15 seconds wanting me to buy software to repair it.

 + -1 moreThere were more problems than I think expected and it took a little longer than I hoped for, but overall, Mark does excellent work and troubleshoots very well.
Description of Work: Mark switched our 2 PCs locations and dealt with the problems that became of that. He put new spyware on all computers for us and helped remove anything that was making them slow. He networked our 2 PCs and laptop to our one printer and got data off of an old broken PC so that we can now recycle that computer.

 + -1 moreSuper. Mark also takes the time to help me understand my computer system. He's very, very patient and understanding. I always consider him a great value.
Description of Work: I was having several problems that seemed related to not having enough RAM memory. Mark gave me a great website to use to determine what type of memory upgrade I needed and what would be best for me. We were able to discuss the plan over email easily. Mark has done several calls to our house and always is prompt and reliable - really a delight to have work here. He installed the RAM, went over some changes to the system that he'd made - asked me first, of course - and then gave me some great tips to make my system work smoothly.

 + -1 moreI emailed Mark on Friday I think and he emailed right back suggesting how I could determine just what additional memory upgrades my system needed. He's always very prompt in getting back to me, and often we just fix things that way, since we've been working together for a couple years now. Since I figured that another 1 gb RAM would do the trick, having taken his advice which was spot on, he was out on Monday morning and had it all done in no time at all. The additional hints and tips he gave me about the limitations of MS Outlook, a new defrag shareware program and several other little things really helped get my system running at an optimal level again. Mark never, ever makes you feel like an idiot, even when I have those 'duh' forehead slapping moments. I've recommended him to other friends and they are still using his services.
Description of Work: I was having terrible problems with MS Outlook, Photoshop Elements 6.0 and the overall slowness of my system. Mark came over and installed 1 gb more RAM, did some cleanup and maintenance on my system, taught me a couple new tricks and I'm up and running again.
