Contacted Mr. Lane to paint on Monday, March 16th via email. he responded within a couple of days and apologized for not getting back to me sooner. He met me at my new residence on March 20th to give me an estimate - 650 for the job and he would provide the paint. He gave me some paint samples to review and to let him know which colors I wanted. He would do the work on Saturday March 24th. I emailed him my color choices on Thursday and waited for his response. He did not return my email. I called him on Friday and left a message, asking to confirm he was coming on Saturday. I didn't get any response. On Saturday, I was at the property, and Mr. Lane was a no show. I called him again late that afternoon, got voice mail, and left a message. By Monday, I still had not heard from him, so I emailed him to see if he still wanted to do the job. He has never contacted me to apologize or re-schedule. I hired another painter, for less money, who did a fabulous job, so the work did get done. Fortunately, I was not moving into the house until the 30th, but had I not found someone else quickly, I would have had additional costs for furniture moving, etc and the inconvenience of having to live in the house while the painting was going on. Mr. Lane had said his mom was ill when he gave me the estimate, and I asked him to let me know if he wasnt going to be able to do the work. Bottom line, he should have called me to decline the work, so I could have moved faster on a replacement. He is again advertising his services on Craigslist. I believe Mr. Lane took a higher priced job, and blew mine off without notice. Hopefully, he doesn't do this to anyone else but his business ethic will be a problem for him if he plans on working for himself.
