+ -1 moreBEWARE!!! McKay services came out to our house. Said they needed to pull the pump out and clean the cage, then clean the sides of the well casing. They scrubbed the casing, which actually made matters worse, as we lost approximately two feet in depth. They then said we needed to dig a new well for appx. $25,000 to $30,000, and did not include trenching to the house. Very close friends put their house on the market, and the buyer had McKay come inspect the well. The McKay rep told the buyers that they had been out to this house "several times" for well problems, and that the house needed a new well. McKay (or any other well service) has NEVER been to this house, and there was absolutely no problem with the well, as determined by another well company.

Description of Work: The company did a well inspection for us as we were negotiating to buy a home. While I understand that may not be a simple thing, the inspection report contained inconsistencies and left many unanswered questions. It seemed to be as much a sales tool (offering expensive, unspecific repairs and improvements) as a report of the condition of the well, pump, controller, and other parts -- which is what we needed. After talking with the man who wrote the report, I still don't have a good idea what they would do to upgrade the well. I would like to determine how much of that I can do myself, as I am an experienced home electrician. He was friendly on the phone, though, and I'll try again to speak with him when we're both in the neighborhood.

Description of Work: They were excellent at helping me solve my sand issues on my well. They did a cleanout on a 340 ft well, replaced my pipe couplers with metal ones, tested my well head, tested my water flow and depth, and didn't sell me anything I didn't need. I asked them about installing a constant pressure controller compatible with an single speed 1.5HP drive. They had a great recommendation which would slow start my 20 GPM well so I wouldn't suck up sand. I was a little concerned when I got the bill about the controller. They undercharged me for my well cleanout and my pump tested out good so replacement wasn't necessary. The controller I found on the web for 50% cheaper. They negotiated a little off the bill when I mentioned this. In the end, they are a great service and I would highly recommend them. In the future I will install my own controller. Pentek PID-20

Description of Work: Checked for sediment fill-in, were only able to clean 2 feet of sediment, found that well isn't as deep as stated in our documents. Replaced casing and pump. They were here when they said they would be, and were courteous and professional.

+ -1 moreThe two man crew was hard working and knowledgeable. The repairs have held so far. Both crew and office were easy to work with. There was a disconnect between the office and the crew as to what work was to be done. They exceeded the scope of work, but I was able to negotiate a settlement. They charged a lot for materials. For example, they wanted $1800 for the pump; I found an identical unit for $800. I would use them again, but make sure there is a very clear understanding of what is to done and what it will cost.
Description of Work: Replace pump, wiring, and corroded pipe.

Description of Work: They removed a well pump that had fallen to the bottom of the well. Removed and replaced all pipe and wire. Installed our well pump.
