In the highly competitive marketplace of name brand window fashions and window covering products, it is crucial to have a savvy, well-seasoned team strategizing, coordinating and implementing your window decoration ideas.
"First let me say that the front desk staff and Rafael were amazing. This rating isn't based on my experience with them. This rating is based on the installer and the continued lack of communication and delay in installation. I ordered 3 shades for my home and I was told that they would arrive in about 3 weeks. They arrived on time and we set an install date and time. The installer, Pedro, came to my home to install the shades. First, he blamed the fact that my windows weren't the same size throughout (they tell you to measure in 3 different places on a window so I told him this), then he blamed the manufacturer for not cutting the blinds to the correct size. Which one is it? That did not sit well at all. The best part, he actually asked me if he could cut part of my wall encasing the window to make the blind fit. I'm serious. He wanted to cut my wall to fit the shades. Why is this person installing shades? One shade allegedly fit, it doesn't. He argued with me that all of these shades are short (they are not, I've been to other showrooms and asked other installers) plus the cassette is more than half way jutting out of the top. It's a horrible install and the product is too short. I once again call and I send pics. I'm told that as soon as there is an update I will hear one. It has been about 2 weeks since the failed install and I have absolutely no resolution. It's really poor customer service and I'm really unhappy that I paid 100% upfront. I see this is why they have no sense of urgency in fixing this nor improving my satisfaction with this experience."

"The sales call was late October, 2022. Problem #1 was the "take it now or lose the price" sales pitch. I should have walked him to the door. Two weeks later I was told 2 windows were "not possible" to make as promised. A change order was done with a more invasive installation. The 8-12 week delivery promise meant new windows by mid-February. I heard nothing from their office for months. 12 weeks became 3 months, 4 months, 6 months and NO windows, no communication. My sales rep turned this over to a service rep and didn't tell me. Calls and emails went unanswered for days and weeks. In April, I posted on their facebook page, receiving a response installation had been scheduled, even tho I had not been called! Early May 2023: Installation day comes and 4 of the first 6 windows off the trailer were made wrong. It includes one of the 'not possible" windows built as originally promised. There were 10 days of unpleasant phone calls to hash this out, with a reminder that I had signed a contract and owed them payment. They also signed a contract and didn't deliver as promised. Late May 2023: After a discount offer, I allow them to install what they have and reorder the remainder, with a 4-6 week stated delivery. 6 weeks later, they say they have 2 of my 3 windows, yet I'm owed 4! Late September 2023: Four more month yields three good windows and one still incorrect. This crew fixed 3 of the prior window installations, which were very poor. Several exteriors had caulk that pulled away. One interior window had a tape wad filling a gap behind caulk and trim. November 2023: The final window arrives and is installled, 53 WEEKS after the original sales call. Bottom line: Universal used high pressure sales tactics, is really bad at keeping promises, bad at communicating with the customer and bad at talking within the company."

It’s usually better to repair damaged interior doors and replace damaged exterior doors, but it depends on the type and extent of the damage. Damage to interior doors won’t threaten your home’s security, so if a repair or partial replacement of only the door (not replacing the door frame) is possible, that route should save you some money. Damage to an exterior door can compromise your home’s security, so it’s often better to replace it entirely, especially if there’s frame damage. You can ask your door installer which course of action is best for your situation.
The average cost to install a door is around $1,100, but you could pay anywhere from $150 for a hollow-core interior door installation up to $2,000 or a high-end exterior door installation. There are a few cost factors to consider to get an accurate price, including whether your wall opening exists, the type of door, the quality and security of the door, whether you need to replace the frame, and the door size. You can expect to pay $150 to $700 for a standard 36-by-80-inch door and between $400 and $1,600 for an 80-by-48-inch door.
If you’re replacing an interior door, it’s best to get the work done in the summer or winter, as door installation professionals are the least busy during these seasons and might charge lower labor costs based on the decreased demand. You can also potentially save money by hiring a professional to install your exterior door during these seasons, but most homeowners wait until the spring or fall so that the extreme temperatures don’t put added strain on their HVAC systems while the door is being added or replaced.
Door installation usually takes three and four hours, including removing the old door and frame, fitting the new door and frame in place, shimming it to make sure it’s perfectly level, and making adjustments to the hinges and locking mechanisms to ensure proper functionality. A door-hanging professional can replace an interior door in between one and two hours. Door installation will take significantly longer if your installer needs to create a wall opening, and it can take less time if the existing door frame remains.
It’s possible to install a door yourself if the wall opening already exists, but the work is rather complicated, and a professional installation is usually well worth the investment. For your door to work and close properly, you’ll need to shim and level the door frame in your wall perfectly, which can be difficult. Additionally, we recommend you always hire a professional door installer to place an exterior door, as mistakes during the installation process can lead to poor security for your home.
