+ -1 moreI need to pay to have someone come and landscape my naked back yard. I can GUARANTEE you that Star Nursery will NOT be called and allowed to bid on that job. Even if their hands were tied by my HOA and Pardee Homes the design in my front yard was the work of Star Nursery and it reflected VERY POORLY on them. I'll never do business with them. Please learn from my experience and put your dollars with someone else.
Description of Work: I just purchased a home by Pardee Homes in the Durango Ranch sub-division. The home cost more than $400K and is all that we could hope for> Pardee subcontracted with Star Nursery to do the front yard landscaping on these homes and I could not be more DIS-satisfied with what I received. From what Pardee Homes tells me they contract with Star Nursery and have only a few standard designs that are pre-approved by the HOA. Sorry to say this, but their design work stinks! My front yard had more than 60 shrubs in it ... which means it was horribly cluttered. There was no discernable design at all. The plant were evenly spaced throughout. Each plant was the same height and several of one type of plant were grouped here, several of that kind were grouped together over there, no thought went into my "design" at all. The only word to describe it is UGLY. To add insult to injury a full one-third of my plants died in the cold snap (Jan 2013). These dead plants were allowed to stay in my yard for two full months before Star Nursery came and removed them. I was told that the only thing I could have to replace them was the same plant in the same location. Well, if I hated it the first time I certainly didn't want it given to me again ... duh! I told them to tear out the old plants and leave me with bare gravel. Seriously, the design was so ugly that I opted to have nothing rathen than have them touch my yard again.

+ -1 moreThere was one point in the winter where we noticed that all of the leaves on my tree were gone. We went there to get a new tree and spoke with one of the managers. She was the regional manager of all the star nurseries. I went over the problem with her and got a new tree in which they told me the leaves would only fall off once a year. I then took the tree home, planted it and about a month later, the leaves were coming out. I ended up with a different tree that looked like the one I wanted. I then went back there and saw the regional manager again. She was very apologetic and made the situation right. They refunded my whole entire purchase and sent a guy with a truck with the same tree. The guy came with about 7 or 8 of the same kind of tree and told me to pick the one I wanted. I was really happy with the way they handled the problem. There are people over there at the information desk that really know what they are doing. I think that if anyone goes there they need to make sure whoever they are speaking with knows what they are talking about. I think they have really good customer service.
Description of Work: We go here a lot during the summer. In the past we were looking for a new tree that didn't lose it's leaves and I also purchase many plants from there.
