 + -1 moreOverall, the installation and the products were fine. The plumber explained and showed me everything he was doing and why he had to replace the products. I did not have a problem with nor what he did. I understand about paying and being professionals but for 10 minutes worth of work I think it is kind of ridiculous. If I did not have my Angie's List coupon it would have cost me over $200.00 for 10 minutes worth of work time.
Description of Work: The toilet fill valve water squirts up from the bottom of the tank which was leaking out onto the floor. The plumber installed a new fill valve for the toilet, flapper and toilet supply line.

He gave his advice on other repairs that might be considered in the future , but did not press for the repairs at the time just for the extra buck. He arrived promptly and performed the work quickly and efficiently.
Description of Work: Plumber was initially called out because the master bathroom toilet was clogged. He pulled the toilet seat up and replaced a part that fixed the clog, replaced a water valve to the toilet and leveled off the flooring around the toilet so the toilet would not wobble and caulked around the toilet to finish the job.

 + -1 moreThe Plumber (Jim) arrived on time and was very friendly and knowledgable. He fixed my initial problem (pipes leading from the water softener to the wall were leaking) and then asked if I would like him to inspect the house while he was there ( I had just purchased the home and was unsure of the condition of the plumbing). Jim found that the angle stops in both bathrooms needed to be replaced and suggested that I have the water heater flushed. He also installed two new shower heads that I had recently purchased. I would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: Replaced leaking pipes, flushed water heater, installed new water stops in bathrooms and new shower heads.

 + -1 moreAfter a recent freeze we noticed a leak around what looked to me like a double check valve in our front yard. After a recommendation from a neighbor and looking on Angie's List, we called Rakeman Plumbing and they were here within 24 hours. The technician, Jim, verified the leak and quoted a price to replace the valve. The work was completed right away. Being new to town, we had a few questions about the placement and function of this valve, called a PVB, and Jim was very knowledgeable and helpful. Rakement has great customer service and I'm sure I'll call them again for any plumbing needs.

 + 0 moreOur 75 gal gas water heater tank was beginning to go out and the water heater was out of warranty (we were seeing rust when we ran our hot water). We saw Rakeman on Angie's list and they sent Corky out. He was very thorough and gave us an estimate there on the spot (no cost for the initial service call). The estimate was a bit higher than our second estimate however based on Corky's explanation of the work he was going to accomplish- what he would replace, how long the job would take and what parts he could reuse- we decided that Rakeman would probably do a better job than our second estimate. After the Angie's list 15% off coupon the estimate was only a little over our lowest bid. Corky returned two days later and replaced our water heater in less time than he originally estimated, ensured our pipes were flushed and left the work area clean and told us he would return if we had any concerns with the install. The water heater works great and operates as good if not better than our old one (sound, overall temperature, time to reheat, etc).

I had used Rakemen before when I had to have remediation done on a different bathroom and the service I got at that time was great so called them again. The plumber was knowledgeable and professional. He checked out the toilet and recommended a service to look at some mold he found. Then he fixed a leaky showerhead and a leaky faucet in another bathroom. (He also told me how I can get free parts if those ever break again.) Overall, the experience was satisfactory.

 + -1 moreThe kitchen sink would not drain. I attempted to clear it by using a plunger, but this did not work. I then tried drano, again without success. I called Rakeman Plumbing on a Sunday morning after the drain had remained clogged for a full day. They had someone at my house within the hour. He quickly found the outside cleanout, and snaked the line. The problem was cleared in less than 30 minutes. He indicated that the clogged drain was due to grease in the line. The service man was very professional, and even took the time to remove his shoes before entering the house, as it had just rained. I would use them again for future plumbing needs.

Tommy showed up at exactly the time that he was scheduled, started a thorough inspection, found a few possible causes which he corrected. He was very professional and friendly. I now have no more problem and have a good flow of water, especially the hot water.

The next day, our renter called and said that the freeze had caused a leak in one of her pipes, so Rakeman went out to that property, and we noticed a crack in another one of our pipes, so they had to come back... Yesterday, we noticed that the original pipe they replaced was still leaking, so they had to come back again...

 + -1 moreThere was no mess, no muss, no fuss. All I had to do was remove items from under the sink. Ralph, our tech was ok with our dogs so I didn't need to have them crated. I will use them again!
Description of Work: I made the call based on AL reviews. DIspatch said someone would call within an hour and I had a call back in less than 15 minutes. Less than 30 minutes after that Ralph arrived. He got right to it, made the fix and we've had no problems (knock wood) since!

 + -1 moreThe plumber arrived within specified time frame. He fixed my wobbly toilet first, then the frozen cartridge in the shower. He explained how the cartridge probably became frozen (lack of consistent use). He also did some trouble shooting on a sink faucet and tightened a loose fitting on another sink. I have used Rakeman for over 20 years and have always found them quick and capable. My present home was built in 2004.
Description of Work: I had the wax ring replaced on a toilet, cartridge replaced in my shower, and another faucet diagnosed. He also fixed a faucet in another bath.

 + -1 moreI had a clogged shower drain in my bathroom. He checked the sink and toilet to make sure there were no problems there before he proceeded with his work. If there would have been problems with either of those along with the shower, he would have used a different plumbing tool and would have also checked the pea trap. At first, it seemed like he took a little longer than would be expected to get the tools for the job, but then he proceeded to unclog the drain and showed us the hair. He recommended to get a hair trap to prevent this from happening in the future. He was a pleasant man and did an excellent job!
Description of Work: I had a clogged shower drain in my bathroom from hair. He unclogged the shower drain.

 + -1 moreWe initially hired Rakeman plumbing to fix a leak in the PVC pipe of an outdoor hose outlet in our back yard. When Rakeman arrived to fix the leak, we discussed the possibility of moving the fixture to another location on the back wall where it would not get banged around by the dogs when they play and we also talked about putting a shutoff valve on that specific connection. We decided to have Rakeman relocate the fixture to a corner in the yard and we had to schedule a 2nd visit to get that job completed. In retrospect, the $100+ we paid Rakeman to fix the initial leak on the first visit was a total flush down the proverbial toilet because they tore down that unit and then relocated and rebuilt it 3 days later. In retrospect once we decided to have them relocate the leaking pipe, we should have either just attempted another band-aid fix ourselves to get us through the next 3 days or Rakeman could have just put an end piece on that pipe and saved us $100 for fixing the leaking pipe. However, Rakeman did a really nice job relocating the backyard hose unit. They also attached it to the wall so it wouldn't get jostled around by the dogs or the wind. They added a shutoff valve on a faucet that comes directly out of the house and they wrapped everything in insulating foam so we wouldn't need to deal with it this winter. We are pleased with their work.
Description of Work: Fix leak on outside plumbing fixture, which morphed into a project to move the fixture to another location.

He came in for a problem that should have taken about half an hour if my plumbing was set up correctly but turned into over two hours of work on his part. He never got upset or impatient even with my children pestering him with questions and comments at every turn. He was fair with his pricing and did not up charge the hour and he even cleaned up the carpet when his machine dripped!! I will definitely use this company again for any and all plumbing needs!!!
Description of Work: I had a drain issue with my toilet draining into my shower in my master bathroom (very gross!!!).

 + -1 moreMy overall experience with Rakeman Plumbing was fantastic. Very professional and knowledgable. They arrived as scheduled. Great pricing with no oversell. The previous company, YES Plumbing, told me that the water heater, all the valves and the toilet hardware had to be replaced. When I posed this question to my plumber he explained to me why it wasn't necessary to replace all those items. He checked out the water heater and said it was operating just fine. Of course he couldn't guarantee the condition of the valves and toilet hardware until he removed and cleaned them. He only found a problem with one valve and the repacement cost was only about $20.00. It was nice to work with an individual and company that was honest. It has been over 3 months since the work was done and everything works great.
Description of Work: My problem was that the water conditioner broke and as result small plastic black beads had clogged up the valves and faucet screens throughout the house, significantly reducing water flow. I originally had YES Plumbling give me an estimate and they wanted $4,400.00. YES Plumbing used all kinds of scare tactics to get me to sign. I was in a rush to get the work done so I called Rakeman Plumbing at about 9:30 PM and an actual plumber answered the phone. That plumber told me what had to be done. All the faucet valves had to be removed and cleaned, the toilet guts had to be cleaned and the water lines flushed. He told me that they get $108.00 an hour and for my size house it would probably take about 4 hours to do the work. To some $108.00 an hour may seem high. I had worked in a related business, underground utilities for over 30 years, so I know what it costs to operate a similar business. Not only does the company have to pay wages and benefits for the plumber, there are vehicle and tool costs, office help, building mortgage or rent, insurance, etc. Their hourly rate was very reasonable especially since there were no added service call or travelling charges. Again, since I had experience in a related field I knew that Rakeman Plumbing's evaluation and fix made sense. Unfortunately, I don't recall the actual plumber's name who came to the house but he was friendly and professional. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction and it was obvious he wasn't there to sell or do work that wasn't necessary. He worked steadily, without taking any breaks. He even cheerfully put up with my yappy little dog. My house is about 15 years old so I figured that with our hard water some valves may be frozen. I was told that only one valve wasn't operating properly and it needed be replaced. It was priced at about $20.00 further proving to me that this company was trying to fix my problem economically and quickly. The plumber spent a little more than 4 hours in my house but only charged for 4 hours. To my surprise he also gave me a senior discount so the total bill, including the new valve, was around $420.00. That was a very good deal. In summary I was exceptionally pleased with this company and it's people. Having an actual plumber answer my original phone call, late at night, was a nice touch. If I have any future plumbing issues, I will call this company first.

The only area of opportunity for the company was a newer employee working dispatch that pushed my job later in the day than anticipated. Once the job was assigned, help arrived very quickly, which is why the rating was lowered for responsiveness rather than punctuality. The work itself was performed quickly and efficiently and the installer, Junior, explained everything he was doing in advance. The price was exactly what I was quoted. The company even notified me of a possible rebate w/ SWGas and left the applicable forms for me to complete. I will certainly use them again.
