GECKO CONSTRUCTION

We just completed a major remodel of our house, and our general contractor was Gecko Construction. We selected them for three main reasons – our engineer had dealt with them and recommended them, their quote was the best that we received, and we were very impressed with Louie, one of the partners in the business. The work was complicated and challenging, as it involved removing walls and structural beams, pouring new footings and replacing the beams and channeling the cement slab to an exterior wall to bring power, gas and an oven downdraft vent to a new kitchen island. all without harming the structural integrity of our two story house. It was made more complicated by the fact that every time we opened up a wall, new problems appeared. Ours is an older house (built in the mid seventies) and this was not the first remodel, so we found unconnected gas and water lines, water leaks, and at least one structural deficiency where previous workers had cut through support structures in the wall. Through it all, Louie remained upbeat, calm, professional and reassuring. Louie is definitely a can do kind of person. He is also a perfectionist – when he undertakes a task he worries about it all the time, sometimes losing sleep over particularly difficult problems. That attitude shows up in the results. Even the little things that you might not notice are done well because he insists on getting things done right. The subcontractors that Gecko hires are of the same mold – highly competent and careful workers. The plumber, electrician, concrete guys and the drywall guys all were excellent. They were also fun to work with. There’s something about Louie that naturally generated a friendly, enjoyable work environment. We had issues with the various permits. I decided to save money and obtain the permits myself rather than have Gecko do it. Bad idea. However, when I encountered problems, Louie and his partner Dave did a great job of solving them by coordinating their efforts with those of our engineer, the Clark County Building Department and various other experts. The project is finally complete and we couldn’t be happier with the result. We would strongly recommend Gecko Construction for anything from a remodel to a custom home
