They were very friendly, experienced, and helpful! They were good about calling when they were on their way.

The day of the move they said not everything would fit on the truck even though it looked like they had more room. We had to get everything out by that evening for the closing. I had to threaten the President of the company, Roger Shenfeld on the phone that I would have our community's private security guards prevent his truck from leaving the development if they did not take everything from the house. So they took the remaining items from the house, but then had no room for the items they were to take from our storage unit. We were assured repeatedly by our Moving Coordinator Berna Casali that the rest would follow soon on a second truck. When we arrived we were told our cost for "everything" did not include unpacking. That cost us $1,278 extra. Other unexpected additional fees brought the total paid to $23,180.56. Over the past two months we have called repeatedly every few days looking for the rest of our belongings. We were told they would arrive as soon as the next truck with room became available. After two months of complaints we unexpectedly received another bill for nearly $4,000.00 and were told that we are now also liable for local transport charges to their warehouse and for storage fees. This company is engaged in the criminal activity of not honoring price quotes, conviscating your belongings and then extorting even more money based on how much they think you can afford to pay. We complained to Allied and found they are no longer affiliated with Allied, and that the Moving Coordinator Berna Casali who promised to deliver our remaining belongings is no longer employed there. They are now apparently part of Atlas Van Lines. We have filed complaints with the Las Vegas Metro Police, the BBB and have disputed the charges with our credit card company. This company is engaged in the criminal activity of extorting money - pure and simple. They rip off consumers by jacking up prices, giving fake estimates and holding consumers' belongings hostage.
Description of Work: The sales person Mary Ciaramitaro of Slater quoted a price in writing not to exceed $20,000 for our March, 2013 move from Las Vegas to Pennsylvania including transport of our vehicles.

Description of Work: Our experience with Allied Van Lines/Slater Transfer & Storage was very positive, including the original phone call, the in-home estimate, loading and unloading. Ryan came to our home for the estimate. He was very professional and courteous. Berna phoned me several times to inquire if I had any concerns and to notify me of timelines. Ben, the driver, and his teams on both ends of our move were also professional. I enjoyed working with them all. I was impressed with the detail they took in wrapping all my furniture so that nothing would be scratched or damaged. Door frames were protected with pads and floors and carpets were covered. They work quickly and carefully. Totally good experience ! We would definitely hire them again for another move, even though I hope to never have to move again.

The packing was horrible. I've hired movers several times in the past and Slater has to be the worst ones I've ever experienced. The first day of packing they were an hour later than was expected. They did not arrive with sufficient packing materials so they quit working the job at 3:00 p.m. One packer who did my kitchen took the entire two days just to do that room. And, he broke 3 pieces just packing. When the driver arrived the next day, most of my second floor had not been packed. I ended up packing a 6' cupboard, and a linen closet. That was in addition to all of the books, which we have many, were already packed by me. Where I went wrong was that I should have submitted to them my hours and charged them back to Slater. And, I used my own boxes that I had purchased. Because the 2nd day took longer than planned, all day, I was cleaning out my home until 11:30 p.m When my storage was delivered a large number of the boxes were not marked so I did not have a clue what rooms things were to be in. The sales rep never checked on the packers while on the job nor did he ever check in with me. I contacted his cell several times during the packing process to complain and he did not return my call directly to me - he contacted a packer. A positive: The driver and the delivery people were terrific - they should be working for a better company than this one. This company was listed as #1 on Angie's List when I searched for a mover. This was the only local company that would provide me with storage. They should not even be on Angie's List. Do not consider this mover unless you are planning on doing half of the job yourself. We spent a great deal of money that I truly regret ever writing a check for. If you are looking for a mover in Las Vegas or St. George, bypass Slater Moving.
Description of Work: Hired them to pack and store my household goods for several months.

Excellent experience overall. The move began with an initial estimate provided by Allied Moving Company (the name-brand affiliate that contracts Slater to do moves for them). I contacted Allied, Allied sent a rep to my home to calculate the estimate, and then Slater did the actual move within a week of the estimate. I think Slater can do boxing, but the Allied estimator gave me a tip and said I could save some money by getting the boxes at U-Haul and doing it myself, so that's what I did. The move began at 10 am. Kelly and his tall friend (we'll call him Mike) were both extremely polite and always referred to me a "sir," even though I am about 10 years younger than either of them. They were very careful handling all of my furniture. I was planning to use them for just the heaviest items, but we ended up moving everything since Kelly insisted that he could help me to do it quickly. Kelly requested to follow me over to the new house in my car so that he wouldn't get lost. At first this didn't seem like a problem, but driving on the freeway proved to be treacherous. Kelly simply won't go above 55 mph in the interest of protecting my belongings. I can appreciate that, but other drivers on the freeway simply won't understand this. They'll just get angry with you for puttering along at 50 mph for no apparent reason at all. They can't see that you're leading a big heavy truck. If a driver insists on doing it this way in the future, I will definitely insist that they take the lead on the freeways. I can relate to their needing guidance winding through surface streets and neighborhoods, but they should have no trouble taking the lead position if they know the exit that they need to take. Once we arrived, the move in went pretty quickly (since everything was on the first floor). They were especially accommodating in helping me to arrange my furniture. They did not mind trying an alternative scenario in both the living room and bedroom since the initial move-in didn't take more than about 2 hours. Once done, the initial estimate was the final price. I will definitely use these guys and recommend their services to my Friends in the future.
Description of Work: Across-town move: from a 2 Bed/Bath Townhome to a 3 Bed/2.5 Bath single-family home. Standard bedroom, family room and dining room furniture; and a 50-in LCD TV and stand. No major appliances moved.

The three guys they had sent out were pretty rude from the very start. First off, I had paid in advance and had even purchased them lunch. I was kind of stuck in the situation and had to keep their help. I had overheard them talking among themselves about how they had other things to do and wanted to get things done and go. That did not fit very well with me. They went ahead and packed up the truck and then ended up refusing to move my big screen TV, three other TV's, my washer, dryer, two refrigerators and stove. That was the main reason I hired them in the first place. I got a hold of their boss and he said they would reimburse me but that never happened of course. As you can guess, I would never even dream of calling them again.
Description of Work: Allied Van Lines helped move my things just a few miles to my new home.
