They were OK the first year but the quality of their work declined rapidly after that. Eventually the quality declined to the point it was unacceptable - for example, the automatic pool filler (that they supplied!) suffered a chronic leak that the clueless laborer they sent to service our pool would not or could not fix. The result? A giant pool of algal slime that discolored our pool deck. See the picture! Dirt and leaves everywhere. When we brought this to the owner's attention, he very rudely and unprofessionally dismissed us as clients. He texted: "I'm going to discontinue your service thank you for the business hope you find a company half as good as us TAKE CARE". A more disgusting, unprofessional, rude response to a legitimate complaint would be hard to imagine. If you adore sloppy, unprofessional service and rude, unprofessional communications, Royal Blue Pools is perfect for you. If you're like most people, you should run away from them at the highest speed of which your legs are mechanically capable.

terrible....sometimes did not show up, did not brush or vacuum...I left a $20 bill in the timer box with a note saying "if you found this, it's yours and thanks for your service" ...I retrieved it 3 days after the scheduled service day

I contacted Paul because we bought the house and all I knew about a pool was how to do a cannonball. The water was low in the pool and hot tub and there was a temperature fault on the display of the flux capacitor or whatever it was called. It was supposed to get very cold that night so I called Paul and asked if someone could evaluate the health of my pool. I didn't want my inaction to damage the most expensive addition to the home. He came out that day, looked over everything, turned a couple things, cleaned some stuff out and said I'll be fine. He really could've taken advantage of my ignorance of pools, but he's not like that. I love the fact he built pools for many years then started his own business and has been successful for years now. I have absolutely NO concerns about my pool or the care that it will receive. This is the kind of quality business that I expect Angie's List to have.

They did an OK job, but suddenly they just dropped us as customers without warning because they did not have enough customers in our part of town.

There's a monthly fee of $110 a month and they come once a week. It went just fine. They could be a little more proactive on the status of the actual operating pool equipment. They could be more proactive in letting us know when something needs help. They have a fairly decent window. They always show up within their window of time.

We were preparing our house to be put on the market. We have a very large pool, with elevated hot tub, several different waterfalls and the system has all the bells & whistles, so rather complicated. Our current pool service company didn't know how to do a lot of things, was doing service improperly and charging a great deal for poor service. I was in a panic because the professional photographer was coming out in 2 weeks to take the realtor images. We got a hold of Paul at Royal Blue and he sent out a service tech THAT SAME DAY. The pool tech found the water was 'dead' and needed a drain & refill - Paul quoted $300 (prior pool service quoted $750). They started draining same day I called! They came & checked on it regularly, Paul was in constant communication with me via text checking on the progress. When the pool was filled, service tech came right out & had it sparkling and perfect for a swim & a photo shot in no time. He didn't have anything unnecessary done (i.e. acid wash) because he knew we were selling our home that it would be lost funds for us - an honest, straight-forward company that has the customers best interest in mind! These guys rock!!

.We trust Paul with our pool completely-we have never had a problem with any repair that he has done. He always responds right away when you text him (he responds faster if you text rather than call) We feel that his prices are fair and that he is always honest about what we need to do to the pool or if some things are not necessary to do to the pool. He will always answer any questions you have

Read this review to the end...In fairness to the company, I think they are fairly reliable... pool was cleaned pretty consistently..however definitely had some unusual policies about holiday schedules which left me feeling like I didn't get proper service for a month that I had paid for. That being said, my primary concern and what I think people should be aware of is the fact that after a visit, we had our excess pool supplies missing which equated to a few hundred dollars of merchandise. We were suspicious of the company and asked them to return the supplies and they did not admit to taking them. I would not recommend this company as I find it a little too much of a coincidence to believe that on the same day as their visit a random person broke into our backyard and stole our supplies. Beware that the pool filter you buy from them is probably stolen from someone's supplies. Disappointing.

Hired Royal Blue Pools to do monthly maintenance. The agreed price was $110.00 a month for weekly service. His guy showed up once a week, spent 4 - 5 minutes doing pool service, which amounted to the following: he skimmed the top of the pool for leaves, checked the skimmer filter, checked the water. Once in a 3 month period he checked the main filters and was remarkably able to clean four large filters in 7 minutes which included removing and reinstalling the filters. If you look at the time he spent on the property this guy charges more than a new york lawyer per hour!! What he didn't do was secure the pool gate upon leaving, would not brush the side walls of the pool which were dirty all the time and once in three months he vacuumed the pool. The only thing this company is good at is up-sales. It seems like about every visit he would find another reason why something was broken or needed replaced. When he ran out of things to up sale and charge for he approached me and wanted to charge me to change the water in the pool. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I called this provider out of despair, my previous provider has allowed my pool to become overrun with algea, so I called Royal blue and Paul came out and told me not to worry, he would have my pool back in shape in no time. True to his word, in a couple visits my pool looked much better and it now looks better than ever! These guys know their stuff and will make owning a pool a pleasure and not a burden.

When I learned that the pool had gone green and needed draining and cleaning I called Royal Blue because I saw their ad in the Angie's list magazine. I left a message and Paul called soon after. He sent one of his techs over right away. Paul then called with a cleaning plan at a good price. He texed me in the evening that the pool was clean and ready to be refilled. I stopped by the house early the next morning and 2 of the guys were refilling the pool and cleaning the filters. The pool looks great and in only 24 hours! This is a very pleasant company to deal with, both professional and affordable. Thanks Royal Blue!

First visit was with TJ; very friendly, punctual, cleaned our filters, tested chemicals, brushed pool, added chemicals..Great service!

No hidden fee. They came faster than expected. Walked us through everything as we are fist time pool owners. Fixed a few minor issues got everything set up so we could swim and were really nice to top it all off! The owner answered the phone and emails within moments. It was nice because I had emailed and contacted several other providers and they didn't bother to contact me within a week or more of my calls and emails. I would so recommend them to anyone that asked who we used! Great price and no hidden charges like other places seem to have. They also don't require a contract which I liked as well.

I called Paul Stone of Royal Blue from California to set up an appointment. A Chlorine wash was done 2 days after we arrived, and they were punctual. After that initial service, his helper would come once weekly and skimmed the pool, sometimes empty a trap basket and add some chlorine. These were the only services provided, on their Angie's list ad of 'Services Include'. I have a Goldline Aqua Rite Salt system on the pool. The Turbo Cell attached was inop, so after some communication ( BY TEXT OF COURSE), I purchased a new one @ $444.00 w/tax. Buying the unit was NOT the problem. The problem was Royal Blue not knowing what to do with it. They installed it ok, which was a matter of screwing on 2 unions, one on each end. Initially they gave me the project of adding 7 - 40lb bags of salt to the pool. This apparently was the correct amount, because it kept the system from getting too much salt initially. Once the salt was added, there was NO mention of a water analysis, which might have helped, as they kept coming up with a chlorine deficiency when testing with their paper test strips. At that point, we all thought that the unit purchased was defective. They had NO knowledge of how to deal with a Salt generating system. These problems were totally eliminated after consulting with an outfit that had the answers I needed. P.S. I did get one phone call, asking me to pay a bill of $387.50, which had been paid even before any services were performed. Apparently, a bookkeeping error.

After an awful experience with another pool company (Passick Pools) I hired Paul and his team to fix our green pool. His recommendations have worked to clear the pool and repair faulty gaskets in the pump area. Paul answered all of my questions and was patient and understanding considering all the frustrations I was having with the stress of moving and a green pool. The tech assigned to my home (Brent) even showed me how to vacuum the pool and helped me understand the valves at the pump. This company provides outstanding service and is worth the higher monthly service price. They are still servicing my pool today. 3-29-15 I just cant speak highly enough about these folks. I was having a wedding last weekend and when turning on the fountains for the pool in the morning our filter exploded. I called Brett and Paul and told them what was going on. After sending them pictures via phone, Paul showed up within an hour and replaced the filter housing. The wedding went off without a hitch thanks to Royal Blue. My weekly service is excellent too. A few weeks ago, I caught Brett playing with my dog. Excellent!

I contacted the owner Paul in November 2013 after reading all the good reviews here. During that time period, I was in the middle of having big issues with my contractor who kept postponing the job of replacement of my spa tiles and towards the end, he would not even pick up either my nor my realtor's calls. (Note: I am a long distance landlord. I was stucked with the contractor because I hired him to fix everything after I purchased a short sale house. ) I met with Paul and told him my problems with my contractor. He has since not only been doing my regular pool maintenance, he has also taking care of other jobs for me too. Paul provides very good services with reasonable price and is very reliable. I am very happy with all his work and I highly recommendate him.

Paul was extremely friendly, prompt, and helpful. He gave me a basic "how to" for maintaining the pool, and advised me on a couple of things to watch for, as well as telling me what needed to be repaired and or replaced.

fix several leaking valves and pipes and did preventive maintenance We have used Paul several times, We have always found him to be on time and very informative regarding what is going on with the repair. I would not hesitate to use him in the future and he is always good about returning calls.

I am not a person who wants a lot of hassles. They clean my pool. Keep an eye on the equipment and call me when there is a problem. They do a good job at a reasonable price. And their nice to my dog.

They are excellent, the services is good. The pool has never been in such good shape. That's the best service that i have found on Angie's List. You get a consideration if you a senior and also on Angie's List.

Paul and I had a rocky start because when we made an appointment in early January for an estimate, he didn't show and didn't call. When we spoke the next morning, he explained that he had an emergency, his son had taken ill, and that being a single father, his son is his first priority. I decided that I would give him another chance, where I normally wouldn't, only because I can respect his position. I'm glad I did! I like Paul and I like his attitude toward his employees. He explained how he operates and answered all my questions. I started with Royal Blue Pools in January and am very pleased with the work that Alex, my poolman is doing. I was with another company for five years and had become increasingly dissatisfied with their work. Even after having my pool drained early last year, my pool seemed to always be green. Alex has my pool blue again! Even with bi-weekly service, my pool is cleaner than it's been in a long time. Bi-weekly service is also a big help to my budget, and being a senior citizen, that says a lot. When summer comes, it'll be weekly service, and the charge will go up to $110, not much more than I was paying before, but with much better service than I was getting before.

Contacted Royal Blue Pools a month ago. Couple days later, got an email saying to call them back. I responded back via email and phone. Went unnoticed, called one last time a couple weeks later, still never answered. Left a voicemail to call me back and had to end up going with someone else. For having such new reviews, they almost look bought, because there is no way this company's service could ever be that good if they can't even return phone calls to set up service for new customers. Would not recommend.

has trouble shooted & helped with light, motor & other problems.. referred us to someone who could help with what he could not (they were good too). His employees are knowledgeable, polite & professional. We are a very pleased & will continue with our ongoing service.

Responded quickly after my call. Cleaned up my pool, and set up regular weekly service at a reasonable price.
