Very quick turn around between quote and sod installation. They did an excellent job of installing the sod and cleaning up. They even adjusted the old sprinkler system so a new one wouldn't have to be installed. It's been about 3-4 weeks and the grass looks great.

Rick and his men of 5 or 6 were professionals and punctual. A very nice guy with a good work attitude. He gave us a very good price compared to the others we have asked. Open to suggestions and was willing to give his. During the time his men were working, he was there to supervise. He even took extra time to assemble our store bought still in the box gazebo and bolt it on the stamped concrete. He and his men did a great job our backyard looks great! It was a total transformation !! ( I wish I could post some pictures with this but I can't find anything that says I could make an attachment). Can't wait to have our friends visit us this summer. He's reachable and replied to my queries even after the job was completed. Will definitely recommend him to our friends! Great job Rick. Thank you!!! Rodora

I called on Monday to ask for a price. Rick called back on Tuesday and set up an appointment. He came out told us the price gave us a piece of the synthetic lawn. We decided to go with them, they came out two days later and did it all in one day! They did a great job, very respectful. Rick was great to work with, they even gave me a small piece that wasn't in the deal but it made it look way better so he had his guys do it.

Rick came out to our home in Boulder City on two separate occasions for a landscape consultation. He is extremely knowledgeable and very receptive to our ideas, offering practical solutions to fit within our budget. Unfortunately, due to some unexpected costs with our interior remodel, we were not able to proceed with the landscape project. However, when the time comes, we will definitely consider using Rick's to complete the work.

Rick was responsive and provided the documents necessary to submit to my HOA. The work was performed on the promised day and went smoothly. There was some confusion as to plants to be left in place but Rick corrected this without additional charges. Some of the new plants did not take and were replaced free of charge.

It was just laid, but the work is guaranteed. He returned my call timely. Something that frustrated me about other people I had phoned. He showed up as planned bright and early and even took care of some areas we hadn't discussed. His price was reasonable and was very understanding of my situation and my fears due to 2 previous landscapers. I'm looking forward to the spring to see that my lawn has returned to its original state. I certainly would recommend him to anyone who was looking. He was very professional to me.

Rick contacted us in a very timely manner and made arrangements to survey our property and inquire about our wants and needs in order to provide a comprehensive estimate. This estimate was provided in writing. It was a very professional looking, comprehensive and easy to understand document. Other provider's verbal estimates were given verbally on the spot, were much higher and were incomplete and open-ended. The day we contacted Rick to accept his proposal arrangements were made for services to be provided. Rick and his team arrived and began work promptly. The job was completed in a timely manner and we are very pleased with the outcome.

I have updated this review as it is 3 months since backyard installation.... The end result initially was wonderful, turned my small backyard into something I am proud of, clean and bright. I liked Rick's creative thinking, he helped me visualize the end result. It is still nice overall, 3 months later, but I lost several plants and missed the experience of have my concerns "looked after". The process was a bit lengthy to get to the job happening, initial meeting for quoting job was in September. Had to be patient, most correspondence via email and his iPhone, and it often took a couple days to get a reply, over a week to get a client referral to see his work in person. I had many days where I thought about backing out, worried something was wrong when there is dead silence in response to a question. Finally job was scheduled for November 12th. Then rescheduled for the 13th. The job did not start until noon on the 14th. Finished about 3pm on the 15th. Small concern just before job started, when a large dumpster was unloaded at 7am on the 12th...had no idea it was coming (Rick did not mention it). On the 13th he brought debris from another job to put into the dumpster, but left half the debris in our street overnight. I asked it to be cleaned up that night, they came over to do it and forgot shovels, so there it sat. But crew cleaned it up early the next morning. Plant availability was also an issue, as part of the job was to fill in some blank spaces in a privacy hedge. I paid for (3) 15-gal texas rangers bushes, but they were out of stock. So they planted (6) 5-gal size very close together. No change to contract price. Rick's crew were very skillful, and we are very happy with the work they did. Pruned existing plants, got everything placed well. Totally removed ugly gray rock in areas specified, so new yellow rock is fresh and clean (no gray peeking out). The crew listened to music, not too loud, kept busy working, a very good-neighbor policy. While Rick was not around most of the time, the head of the crew was available to ask questions, though language barrier made it hard to get ideas fully shared. Cleaned up thoroughly after the job was done. Some things were promised that did not happen. I was told we could pay with credit card, but at time of payment Rick said there was something wrong with his QuickBooks or something, so could only take a check. He also promised to provide care information on the plants, but when I asked about that he simply replied "what do you want to know?", followed by "don't do anything, call us in March". I'm inexperienced at gardening, and perhaps it's true that there is nothing at all to this, but expected something in writing about each plant as to watering, pruning, fertilizing, etc. The next step promised, a follow-up to see how the plants are responding. Rick never initiated this step. Within a week after installation, lantana plants started to disappear. Asked Rick if it could be rabbits? He said no, they do not eat them, but my friends and neighbors said yes, indeed, they will eat young lantana in a drought. Okay, Rick was surprised by this, but maybe this is the first time it's happened to his jobs. I caged the young plants to protect what was left, no offer from Rick to help, and his 3-month plant warranty does not cover rabbits. Another week, and the powis castle and golden euonymous were getting broken and strewn about the yard. He had no idea what caused that, they also are rabbit-proof? So caged those up too, problem solved. A few weeks after installation, we had a week of frost in the early morning hours. As we were warned, I emailed Rick about how I should protect the plants. He said there was nothing to be done, everything would be fine in the spring. In early February, I requested Rick to come out and look around to see how the plants looked. The lantana were nearly gone, but he assures me they will be fine. The vines were completely gone, no evidence they ever existed except for sticks coming out of the ground, so he suggested I might like another type of vine (that I would buy and install myself of course). The 24" box carob tree does not look good. He thinks it might be okay, he would come back in March to look again. I asked what his 1-year warranty on trees would cover...he said that I would have to buy another tree, but he would replant at no charge, because the warranty does not cover frost. The original plan was to have him do the front yard project also. But based on this experience, I went with another company this past week. I know there are different opinions about how to work with plants, so take advice with a grain of salt and make my own best guess at which opinion to go with? Decided to replace the carob tree in backyard because it would potentially struggle for years over the stress from frost or whatever ails it...the new landscaper said that possibly it would also struggle because of the root barrier confining it (I know there are pros and cons to those). So the tree removal and replacement was an additional cost. Also wanted new landscaper to replace the vines...but as they dug it was apparent that the wall footing left little space for more roots to grow. The vines that Rick had planted were put in about 6 inches of soil, with concrete footings underneath, so they never stood a chance (either Rick's crew didn't bother digging deep because they were just 1 gal vine sizes, or decided to just put them in knowing they would not take). I also worried that putting the smaller texas rangers close to each other (less than 10" apart), when they grow, would be a crowded ugly mess (remember it was a substitution to do more 5-gal instead of fewer 15-gal as per contract). So had 3 of them removed, and that's 3 that I paid for unnecessarily...I would recommend that if you make plant decisions with sizes, consider carefully whether substituting more-but-smaller is a good solution for your plan.
Description of Work: Backyard landscape improvement, replaced 9 tons of rock, added (2) 24" box trees and lots of 1-15 gal shrubs and plants, irrigation and lighting adjustment

Final product was outstanding and exceeded my expectations. The project kept growing so we exceeded the original budget but that was due to a growing list of upgrades we asked for. One of the subcontractors took quite a bit longer to finish his part than was originally expected but this was due in part to his materials supplier. Some things needed corrections or final touches but they were all done to satisfaction

Rick was amazing to work with. Always on time, did the schematic and was very easy to work with any changes I wanted, pricing was very reasonable. His crew came and quickly went to work, cleared out all rock and stuff that had accumulated in this yard and it was transformed in a little over two days to a beautiful new area. He also made little changes to make it look better without changing the price, and when I asked (after they were done) for something to be fixed they came right out and took care of it. I am thrilled with his work ethic and the results and would definitely use his services again!
Description of Work: Landscaped dirt front yard including driveway, planter, pavers trimming the driveway, concrete patio, rock filling in the rest, including a sump pump installation.
Everything went even smoother than I had expected. After dealing with 3 other contractors I had become sceptical of all landscaping contractors. After only a few minutes with Rick I knew that I had stumbled onto a gold mine. His staff were the most polite and acommidating guys that I have ever encountered. Never did they once act as though they wished that I would get my ("stuff together). They worked at lightning speed but were so methodical about it, I could tell that this was not their first rodeo. Always punctual and willing to stay overtime. I heard Rick tell his guys that it was time to "rap it up for the day". Their response was "why"? I was impressed. What a great bunch of guys. Rick really knows how to pick them. Although Rick's estimate was the highest that I got from a total of 4 contractors, I knew he was the guy to do business with. Money well spent. Since the job was completed I have had neighbors actually walk to my home and compliment the way my home now looks. I see vehicles passing our home so slowly to get a good look at the work that was done. My wife was so excited about the end product that she took pictures to her office (Dental) and actually had, not only staff asking for his buisness card, but patients also. I am a 100% disabled veteran and after all was done I had a great sence of gratitude that there are still people that care about QUALITY and not so much QUANTITY. Rick will be coming back in about 2 weeks to check on the plants, shrubs and tree to make sure there are no problems. He is not afraid to guarentee his work. He is on site most of the time, except when he needs to fetch some of the products, but always clues the staff in on what needs to be done before he returns. And they can handle it. My home was left as clean as they found it at the end of each work day. I am proud to say that I no longer feel like a squatter in a forclosed home and my neighbors no longer have an eyesore to look at and I am sure that they appreciate that this just brought the value of their homes up....as well as mine. Thanks Rick and thanks to your staff. You will certainly be talked about for some time to come. Not only by me, but my neighbors as well.
Description of Work: Ricks crew completely landscaped our front yard which happened to be dirt. It was a forclosed home. My wife and I felt like squatters in a forclosed home for 3 years. Rick actually listened to our concerns and ideas for our design (something that the other 3 companies didn't seem to want to do). He was willing to meet with us at a local nursery to pick out plants, shrubs and a tree. We had no idea what would thrive and what would not.....but he did. He gave us tons of info about each plant, shrub and tree that we decided to go with. Ricks knowledge and experteise was most impressive. He actually performed more tasks than he had estimated and was happy not to charge an additional fee. What a wonderful man and crew.

The reason why we liked Rick's Lawn & Landscaping was he could come right away. The highly rated ones at Angie's List couldn't com right away. He set-up the appointment, he was running early so he gave us a call and said that he would come earlier if somebody was home and somebody was home. He checked out the system and everything was good, that was good because he saved us a lot of time. I wasn't there but somebody was there who reported it back to me and they were very happy. Mostly we were happy that he could take care of it right away because the water was leaking. We were very satisfied. He took the time to explain it.

I called to request a yard clean-up and scheduled a time for Rick to do an estimate. The estimate came back and I received a confirmation email with an agreement. While Rick was here, he did warn that he probably couldn't do the work for a couple weeks. I had interpreted a "couple" to mean 2. It wasn't until about 5 weeks that the work was completed. They did do an excellent job with the clean-up. There was a lot of waste to haul away, and they took it all. I can't complain about the work done; it just took a while to get here. They did highlight a problem with the irrigation system; however, didn't have time to fix it at that time. I did call with a follow-up question about how to turn off the water, and Rick walked me through that and was very helpful. So, really a great experience, but not if you're in a hurry.

Rick and his entire team were prompt, courteous and hard working. He worked with us to decide exactly where to place the new plants so the end product would be an attractive layout. The boulders and chunky rocks he proposed were a nice addition and arranged in an eye-catching, natural way. He seemed knowledgeable about the trees and plants we chose as well as their maintenance. Rick promises a follow-up visit to see how things are doing, although not enough time has gone by for that.
Description of Work: Our front yard needed almost complete relandscaping. Rick came out once to hear our ideas and supply his own suggestions. He then provided a written estimate and came out a second time to fine tune it with us. We met him at two nurseries to choose together the specific trees and larger plants, although the smaller ones he chose for us. He and his team worked for almost two days to remove existing trees and plants, place and dig holes for the new ones, modify the irrigation system, add boulders and larger chunky rocks and clean the existing rock cover.
