+ -1 moreI would not recommend One Hour A/c aka Quality A/C to my worst enemy. There workman ship is extremly poor.
Description of Work: Quality Air aka One Hour Air Conditioning installed a new A/C & heating system at a cost of $7,966.00 in my home after I was informed by a One Hour A/C representive that the 16 year old unit I have will be difficult to service due the age and also with the new 13 sear changes I may have problems obtaining parts and service on a unit that old. Then later I was informed of a seasonal cleaning charge for apprx $147 annually entitled me to have then inspect my unit twice a year. Service for 2007 was problem free, 2008 the compressor was replaced then in 2009 I was due for my seasonal cleaning and was informed the pigtail caught fire and breaker did not trip as it should. To correct problem at a cost of $700 I needed a new breaker for the furnance, a dedicated electrical line and a prewired power surge protector, other wise the unit could catch on fire again. At this point I asked these technicians to exit my home immediately. I contacted One Hour only to argue with the technicians on why my unit was installed incorrectly. I am a 54 woman who has battled cancer twice and I decided to crawl in my actic and look at what was wrong. Besides what I have previously mentioned I found four air ducks leaked, the a/c unit leaked cold air, two of my roof joices where cut and one was sawed in half, the a/c unit was hung uneven that water drained into the overflow pan then on the attic insulation, also, the unit was hung with material that resembled an over sized threaded coat hanger which was attached with the smallest wood screws ever seen.

+ -1 moreHe came and checked it out. He said it needed to be replaced and had him do it. Within an hour and a half we had hot water. He had a replacement on the truck. It was pleasant experience. He cleaned up after himself, which I really liked.

+ -1 moreI think they could charge a little less. They do good work, they show up very close to when they say they'll be here. The professionalism is a little lacking sometimes, it just depends on what tech comes out. Most of them have been okay, but not superior.
Description of Work: This company has performed one of the twice yearly certification for protection program, check-ups, and cleaned an airfilter.

+ -1 moreWhen they completed the job, the relay switch would not work properly. They told me that the relay switch would not work with the furnace by the time this winter came around. When I told them the work was unsatisfactory, they said they would have to rewire the entire system, in order for the relay switch to work. I also, thought the price was very expensive considering the fact that the actual part itself only cost fifty dollars. When I decided to have a new unit install, I got several estimates and they were substantially more expensive, than the company that I ended up using.
Description of Work: They repaired my old 3 1/2 ton heating and air conditioning unit. They replaced the fan motor on the air conditioner and the relay switch on the furnace.

+ 0 moreI can say that I am very happy with the service men that did the work. They were very neat and even wore plastic booties while going through my home. The problem came in their timeliness and the person who they hired to clean out my air ducts. I had to wait over a week for him. It really was no fault of this company for that though. I did have them come back and check my furnace as the door was making a rattling noise. That again was no fault of this company as they have had that problem with this particular model. They were able to stop the door from rattling.
Description of Work: We had them install a new 14 SEER heating and air conditioning system in our 1800 square foot home. They removed our old system and also disposed of it for us. They also cleaned our air ducts by vacuuming them out after the new system was installed.

+ -1 moreI have a contract with Quality right now that I pay for on a yearly basis. They are great people. When they came out this time, they did just as wonderful as they always have. Everything is in working order and I do not have a complaint. One time when our unit went out we called and they said that they were so booked up but they still came out that same evening and fixed it. It is nice to know that they are reliable.
Description of Work: Quality Air provided my annual check up on a three ton heating and air conditioning unit.

Description of Work: The furnace and A/C unit I purchased from this company started to malfunction. I called them early Sunday morning (11/19/06) and in 10 minutes Beau Copening called and said he could be here in 30 minutes. He was on time. He diagnosed the problem but had to get a part. I still had heat so I could wait. This evening he arrived and in 5 minutes he had the new part in and all is well. I would highly recommend them and was satisfied with their excellent service. There was no charge as I purchased the unit from them January 2006.

+ -1 moreWhen I realized there was something wrong with our A/C I thought for sure it would take days before I could get a repairman as this is the middle of summer (August). I was pleasantly surprised that there was an opening within 1 to 5 hours. Right on time, Mark showed up, climbed on the roof and found the problem. Within 30 minutes cool air started flowing into our home that by that time had reached over 90. Thank you Mark and Quality/One Hour A/C! Will recommend you to everyone. :)

+ -1 moreWhile my air conditioning was repaired and now works good. I have to give this company an overall grade of F. I would certainly not recommend this company. They do have up front pricing and I was aware of what the total cost was going to be prior to any work being started. The cost of the diagnostics was $89.00, which is not included in the repair cost. It took less than 5 minutes for him to determine that my repair was a Categoty 4 repair $690 flat rate. It took a total of 35 minutes to complete this repair. My invoice does not include the amount of refrigerant used. If refrigerant costs $60 per pound, and 4 lbs was used then it would be $240 for materials leaving $450 for labor not counting the diagnostic charge which was separate. This is outrageous, considering the time that it took from beginning to end. I did get a discount for signing up for a monthly charge of $11.95 for them to come out and service my a/c, which I have written to cancel.
Description of Work: My air conditioner was blowing hot air. Tony V. came out and diagnosed the problem (which was a tiny leak in one of the lines which required welding/soldering and a recharge of the system). You should call this company only if you are stupid. They WILL rip you off.

+ -1 moreI made a service call to Quality because my heat pump was leaking condensation during the winter. The technician showed up, spent 5 minutes looking at the outside of my unit, diagnosed it as "old", proceeded with a sales pitch for a $5,000 replacement unit, and charged me $80. I insisted that he at least open it, look inside, and give me a more specific problem. Reluctantly, he did (even though I'm pretty sure he made it up). This was over a year ago, and I'm still furious that I paid $80 for a sales pitch. Be very, very wary of this company.
Description of Work: I called Quality because my heat pump was leaking condensation. The technician performed no work, opened the unit only at my insistence, told me it was "old" and needed replacing, tried to sell me a $5K replacement, charged me $80, and then left.

+ -1 moreMike the service man was early within the time frame arranged for. He stuck to the job while being polite and pleasant. He suggested some other things to watch for as the unit is getting old, but did not give a hard sell. The air conditioner works now. The company and repair man are up front about the costs before work begins and don't add things on later.
Description of Work: The service man checked all components of unit, diagnosed and found problem, replaced parts (the parts were with him on the truck), cleaned up, tested. Parts replaced were fan motor, contactor, and capacitor. The job took about 3 hours.

+ -1 moreI was told that if I wished to get a whole new air conditioner that this amount would be applied to a new unit. I was told that the 500 was an utterly exorbitant amount to play for a motor and that this was done to encourage me to buy a completely new unit from them.
Description of Work: They replaced a blower motor on the outside of my house after a while it failed and they replaced the second one free.

+ -1 moreQuality Air did a good job I guess. It does not seem to make much of a difference for me, but, it is included in my plan with them so I have it done regardless. I purchased a plan with Quality Air where I pay them $12 a month. This gives me a free air duct cleaning and a free maintenance check on my heating and air conditioner. I am not sure how much it would cost without the plan. I seem to be satisfied with them; I have been on the same plan for 3 years and have never had a problem. The workers tend to work rather quickly, they clean up their mess and they are always at the house as scheduled. They are also very polite upon arriving.

The only thing I didn't really like was when I first started using them, they would come out twice a year to check my unit. Now they only come out once a year. They still charged the same price. That was why I gave them B's instead of A's. The price reflects the annual fee.

+ -1 morePersonally, I think this was a total waste of time. My wife insisted on having this done, but, I told her it would be a total waste of money. She agrees with me now. The workers did a very good job, so I would not give the company a bad reputation. I just do not feel this type of service is necessary. Considering my feelings, the pricing was ridiculous. I highly doubt that I would ever have this done again. Thank goodness my wife agrees as well.

+ -1 moreI have been with Quality for three years, and so far it has been worth it. There has been freon added on one occasion, and the system has run well because of the attention paid to it. The technician lets me know when he plans to come over, and he has been prompt every time. He also explains things to me, so I can understand. I plan on signing another contract when this one runs out.
Description of Work: Quality Air Conditioning Service performs maintenance checks on my ventilation system. The system is checked for leaks, energy efficiency, and freon is replenished when necessary. They are also responsible for labor on all repairs, except for compressor replacement. This is done on an annual basis.
