The installation went fine, however, after the installation, I found out that Polar substituted less efficient and lower cost air handlers which did not meet Energy Star requirements as specified on the contract. When I called them on it, their manager told me "I got what I ordered" even though a licensed HVAC contractor has to know that even if I asked, they should never install such a mixed system since it would be a waste of money.

We once called on a Saturday night because our air conditoning had gone out. They came out on a Sunday and changed the compressor. They are always here on time, they are very reliable, and they have a 24 hour service line. We have been so pleased with the company that we have used them for years.

So far, so good. I dealt with the owner primarily, he took it over from the family, a younger generation. He was good.

I called Polar at 4 PM after I noticed that the house was too warm and getting warmer. Nick arrived within 2 hours. He determined that the motor was burned out in the 11 year old AC unit. I decided to have the AC unit replaced and he offered to install the new one after 9 PM when he obtained it. I decided to wait until morning. He arrived promptly the next morning and quickly installed the new unit.

We noticed the house was getting warm about 7PM. After some investigation I deduced that the blower was not working. I called several companies and none were able to come to the house until mid-morning the following day. This was not an option since we had a 5 month old child in the house and the temperature in the house was at 85 degrees and rising. I called Polar Air and Heating, who has 24HR service, and the technician named Nick was at the house within 30 minutes. He did some trouble-shooting and explained to us that basically the unit was shot. The house was built in 1987 and the A/C was the original unit. It was very inefficient and rusted out. Nick explained that he had a new Trane unit in his truck that he was to install in another place but it was too large physically to fit. It was a $5000 unit but he said he can give it to us for $4200, which we agreed to do. I asked what time in the morning would he be back to install it, and he said he would do it right then. To say we were surprised would be an understatement! Nick worked until midnight to install the A/C to ensure we had cool air for the night, despite the fact that he had to wake-up at 5:30 AM. Since we replaced the A/C unit we also decided to replace the condenser with a larger and much more efficient Trane unit. Nick returned the following day and installed the new condenser and digital thermostat, once again working until 9PM, and he had another job to go to after he was done with ours! I can't say enough good things about this company. I will definitely use Polar Air and Heating in the future and recommend them to anybody needing an HVAC company.

They were good. He checked everything and seemed to be very thorough. I didn't need any extra work. He said everything should be fine and it was.

Polar Air and Heating were prompt, on time, and courteous. You are at the hands of the professional on these types of things. I guess if I had to come out and get in my attic in July I would probably charge a lot too. They were courteous, clean, came when they said they would, and they did what they said they had to do. I hate to ding them on price, because I just don't know.

Contractor made a temporary fix to get the A/C system working for another 24 hours while they were obtaining the materials. Spent most of a day replacing the indoor and outdoor unit to get the new unit functional as quickly as possible. The contractor needed to repair damage caused by another contractor. Due to freon standard changes and the age of the unit we opted not to replace the compressor for $2,500 and install a new unit which was 17 years old.
