PERFORMANCE SOLAR

I had to call California to arrange for this service to be completed by a local technician, who would come out within the week. Upon his arrival a couple of days later, he confirmed what I already believed that the Solar Pool Controller had failed. The technician said that he would report his findings to Californioa and they would call me back. A couple of days later I received a call from California telling me that my leak was fixed. I told the woman that I didn't have a leak and that my Solar Pool Controller was faulty. She told me that it was no longer under warranty. I told her my Installation and Operation Manual stated that this device was covered under a three-year warranty. She called back the next day and told me that the three-year warranty was a manufacturer's warranty, not a company warranty, but that they could replace the Solar Pool Controller for several hundred dollars. I told her that I wanted to exercise my rights under the three-year warranty and she said that they couldn't help me. Upon researching the manuafacturer's warranty, I discovered that Perfomance Solar did not appear to be listed as an authorized dealer for this piece of equipment. This completely contradicts the representations that were made by the salesman, who told us that serviced and provided warranties for all of our equipment when we agreed to purchase this solar system. Likewise, Perfomance Solar doesn't appear to have any interest in providing customer service or an ongoing relationship with their customers. It also appears that their presence in Las Vegas is superficial at best and I remain profoundly disappointed with this company. Given that Performance Solar no longer warranties any of the equipment in my solar system, I will take great pleasure in patronizing their competitors with all of my repairs.

Very impressive presentation at Home Show and equally impressive sales-pitch by salesman a couple of days later. Unfortunately, installation and subsequent contacts with the company were a nightmare. First, salesman recommended a new ditch for piping at an additional cost. Installation folks recommended using an existing open trench, so the additional charges for digging a new trench were unnecessary. Upon completion of the job I was presented with a bill reflecting the original quote, yet everyone involved acknowledged that the trench, which was never dug, was included in the original quote. I subsequently spoke with several company representatives in an effort to resolve this dispute over several months and eventually settled for a minimal refund because it was obvious customer service was not their priority. Worse yet, given that this system was installed in the winter, I have no idea if it actually works or not, but I have pretty much decided that I will have nothing further to do with this company. I sure wish I had been a member of Angie's List prior to entering into a contract with this company.

They promised me that they have 3-year warranty plan for me with: "Bumper to Bumper" service. There are standard plan is one year, but they promised me three to win my business once I showed them offers from 3 other competitive companies. I was naive not to ask for that in writing. Of cause when I had a problem 18 month latter with the sensors they told me that they never promised me 3 year warranty, and that the sales representative who promised me that was not working there already. (I wonder why?). This company practices "got you" business, preying on naive people as me. Also they were bad with installation. They left a mess in my back yard and disconnected my pool light. Then they refused to come back to connect it, because it was a weekend. As for their service fee after the warranty was over: They charge $125.00(!) just to came over and have a look what is wrong. Bad company!!!

I am not happy with Performance Solar. They came to my residence & initiated a service call without my authorization. Now they are billing me for it. All I did was call them to find out if a prior service was under warranty. When I found it was not, I told them I would fix the problem myself, which I did, with three turns of a screwdriver. I do not recommend them to anyone.
