Palapa Depot LLC

Palapa Depot performed rethatching of two large palapas that I had purchased with my home. I looked around for other vendors before using them and they seemed the most experienced. They did an excellent and professional job.

Called on July 7. Palapa Depot had my information on file as they installed the palapa in 2007. Gave a quote over the phone of $1400. They required a $200 deposit which I paid with a credit card. I accepted the quote and we scheduled the installation for July 10. Crew showed up on time at 9am and worked until 5pm. They left twice because they didn't bring enough thatch or roofing felt paper. (My palapa has a waterproof roof.) The work was satisfactory, but not done as neatly as the original installation, even though this is the same company. The workers also broke a ceramic dish that I had left on the counter under the palapa. I didn't discover this until a few days after they had left. The broken pieces had been placed behind a support pole where they were not visible from the house. I received a call the following day for final payment. To my surprise, I was told that the total cost was about $1580, not $1400 as quoted. I questioned this, and we agreed to a the amount of $1400 plus about $80 in sales tax. I requested a copy of the final invoice for my records and gave my email address for it. I had to call four times over the subsequent two weeks before I finally received a copy of the invoice.

We were very impressed with Palapa Depot. Carlos came out in February for an estimate and we followed up with him in April to have our palapa rethatched. The work was done quickly, on time, and looks great! Palapa Depot actually did the original installation of the palapa back in 2007 before we owned the house, so when it was time to get it rethatched we were happy that they were still in business. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again, but hopefully won't need to for a few years!

They're quick and efficient. I got no complains about them so far, because they're just about to start next week. They're very good!

Carlos and his team of professionals were awesome. I just had a palapa installed in my backyard and now I'd like to do another one. Definitely the type of people the world should be doing business with.
